Our Experience With The Monitoring System Zabbix
What do you like best about the product?
Zabbix is a control-software for manifold network parameters, servers’ operability and status of servers. Zabbix uses a malleable notification scheme that allows users to set up alarm signals by mail for almost every event. This function makes it possible to react rapidly to difficulties with the server. Zabbix offers brilliant visualization and informing capabilities based on the collected data. That’s why Zabbix can be considered an ideal tool for scaling and modeling.
What do you dislike about the product?
We like that Zabbix functioning as a puller and trapper. All statistics, instrument settings, and reports in Zabbix are available through the web-interface. Web-interface establishes the necessary state of the network for you to be able to estimate your servers working from anywhere. It is hereto that a well-tuned Zabbix plays an essential part in monitoring the IT infrastructure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fortunately, this platform hasn’t caused lots of problems for our team. But, there are some things we are not entirely satisfied. On the one hand, the possibility of the user’s customization gives a range of obvious benefits. But on the other hand, if you don’t have a possibility to devote time to managing the program, it’s not an advantage anymore. This is the best monitoring system for me. With a great desire, you can monitor any equipment.

while it's suited for engineers, first-level support sometimes finds it not that user-friendly (too many items / dashboards per page)

What do you like best about the product?
Zabbix allows you to fully customize conditions and alerts. The screens and graphs have color coded historical usage which is a necessity in any monitoring software. Along with service availability monitoring, it provides disk space monitoring and host availability monitoring as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The maps feature is not very helpful as it is extremely complicated to configure. The implementation and configuration of dashboard is very complex. Master node can only be setup on Linux OS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps in monitoring application and network on an enterprise level. It has number of built in templates to monitor applications.

being it is in real time, it makes monitoring so much more efficient

I find it hard to use, it is a little glitchy

monitoring metrics and tracking the status of networks/services
Zabbix can be a life-saver in infrastructure monitoring!

This open-source and flexible program has been used by several of our teams for the past 6+ years. We have enjoyed how we've been able to adapt it to meet the monitoring needs in several areas.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve that happens with any new software, and Zabbix is no exception. The menus and navigation could certainly be improved to make it more intuitive to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The real-time monitoring and lightweight nature of the tools make it a staple for several teams!

Zabbix review
What do you like best about the product?
Good monitoring tool when you compare it with other traditional available in the market. Has paid support available if you need it. Its compatibility with all all platforms. Well integrated within the OS and has lot of features for pretty much all apps, tools and services.
What do you dislike about the product?
I havent tested its compatibility with all public cloud platforms but if they have a solution for it then that will be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Public cloud monitoring with all cloud providers.

I love that Zabbix is extendable. Specifically that you can write custom applications for it's database, including responding to events within the application itself.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the community is strong, I felt like some elements of the Zabbix interface did require somewhat of a steep learning curve. Once you get past that, however, it's a fantastic tool to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance monitoring and alerting. Previously we had to maintain multiple systems (Cacti/Nagios, etc), but Zabbix support many of the same features out of the box and has the ability to install agents on Solaris (a big win for us) that made adding hosts very trivial.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The fact that the group behind Zabbix offers a virtual machine to get you started on makes it a snap to get started with. Even if you need to resize based on your needs, having the basic starter in the virtual machine was super helpful.

Ease of setup, basic monitoring tool for clients servers. Customizable to any degree you want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Zabbix will go down and not create tickets. It takes some trouble l shooting then we get flooded tickets from months ago.

We provide server monitoring for clients to monitor SQL, backups, raid, server state.
Helps us ensure our clients are up and running and we can get a jump on issues that we may see arising from the alerts.
