ArcGIS, the best thing since sliced bread
What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to combine data from several sources and make something that makes those datasets into something others can visualize and utilize
What do you dislike about the product?
Picking the correct transforms. With all these data, you often end up with data from a variety of CRS's
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Too many to list, but I build a several maps that we utilize for field work and reconaissance as well as field safety and hazards planning/documentation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just do it. Worth the time and investment.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and integration with other software and hardware. I love using my trimble r2 with collector and having the data update for people in the office and field

non descriptive errors, they make me very unhappy.

I enjoy the integration with other siftware and field apps

I like that this platform continues to grow with new functionality.

That so frequently its usage requires lots of different types of support.

I'm teaching natural science students how to use the software to address environmental and science situatoins.

What do you like best about the product?
Huge number of geoprocessing options, well documented help guide and tutorials
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow reload times if using big data, it's a hog on computer memory and the network I'm working on
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Militaray related land management problems. ESRI can help our department analyzing large-raster based datasets to generate reports and maps that are helpful in decision making.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the functionality and the capabilities that GIS has to offer, as well as how it is multifunctional for many departments.
What do you dislike about the product?
GIS takes some seriously fast server speeds and very good computer equipment to be able to run effectively. Slow or older computers make GIS very difficult and frustrating to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving problems at a customer level using our current layers and city information to help customer's solve their promblems and development needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend GIS to other other companies. The possibilities and technology are endless. It is the way of the future, and something to become a part of.
Best Computer-Based Mapping Program on the Market!
What do you like best about the product?
I like that there are so many levels, add-ons, extensions to the program, it allows entry-level use to create maps all the way up to robust users who run civic institutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are so many levels, it's sometimes difficult to discern what part of the program will fit your needs. Clean data is also difficult to find.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Environmental analysis and land use planning. Easy to turn around a functioning map quickly.
Industry Leader for a Reason
What do you like best about the product?
I like that they are always adding new features and are continually trying to make their product better.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't say that all of it is really intuative, there are some issues they have with labeling and it's not necessarily easy to set a labeling hierarchy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilize Esri by creating data. I create street centerline information for our Dispatching software. I also make large Wall Maps for the Fire Stations. The benefits are astronomical. The ability to create and update wall maps for Fire Stations makes their jobs easier when planning how to get to a fire or an incident.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is a reason for Esri being number one. It is widely used by other agencies so data integration is easier when using it. There is a bunch of free data and free services you can pull in to create great maps!

the fact many of the upgrades move the commands to different locations and it takes time to figure out the pathways again.

The pace of technological change - but I understand. It's a challenge to keep up, especially for a one person shop.
