You can extend the platform to fit your needs using Extension Attributes, custom scripts, and custom deployables.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maintaining an on prem sever environment had been a challenge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing macOS and iOS devices. Grouping devices and batch operations have proven invaluable.

Plan everything ahead of time. Keep in mind the interactions between smart groups and policies and make sure to use other built in scopings before relying on a smart group.

Extensibility with Jamf Pro

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to extend Jamf Pro with EAs. We use this feature heavily to gather information that otherwise wouldn't be available. No experience with other MDM solutions, so can compare.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost of using Jamf Pro. Being forced to move to Jamf in the Cloud. While worthwhile, feeling forced. I understand the value of being the cloud and we're working to get or organization to adopt that model so that we can move forward and manage our devices at all times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping devices properly managed - patched and secure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't be afraid.

What do you like best about the product?
Great product for managing MAC devices. Self deployment is very easy for the end user to perform. Allows for self-enrollment of MAC devices. You can deploy iPads to end users without any IT personnel needing to put hands on the devices. Desktop . Laptop devices can be handled in the same way.
What do you dislike about the product?
Requires managers to keep up with the product to stay fluent in operation. Some functions are WYSIWYG but some require programming knowledge to accomplish.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deployment to users. Management of software updating and deployment. JAMF Pro has allowed a small staff to manage large deployments.

On boarding! Handing a new user a Mac and it setting itself up is priceless!

Take the online classes they help a lot

Using Jamf to manage macs is great

What do you like best about the product?
The community. So many other macadmins smarter than myself who always blogging and answering questions in slack and the Jamf forums.
What do you dislike about the product?
The constant push to try to move everyone to cloud and converting us all to subscription. From a business view I obviously get it, but don’t forget about us smaller customers who want to save money to run Jamf on Prem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing macs. Enforcing policies. Reporting on macs for audits.

Strait forward tool, but some things not easy to understand

  • November 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can distribute app inside organization and it is pretty straightforward. Moreover, I can create user groups not to distribute for everyone. Also, feature or Self-Service is pretty nice.
What do you dislike about the product?
Several things:
- I can not simply put a txt file on the device at specific location. In order to distribute app with a license, the license key is needed to be placed in app support folder. But some apps (like Setapp4Teams) requires updates of the license file. In order to do that, I need to create a .pckg file or create a file with script. It is hard.
- when I distributed an app (Setapp4Teams) using JAMF, I forgot to sign it. But self service just tells “Error occurred” it was hard to understand what was the problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don’t need to manually distribute apps and manage licenses.

A necessity for any company that uses Mac

  • November 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JAMF provides indispensable insights into our Mac fleet and allows us to keep things up to date and secure. It is super customizable and has a robust community of other admins sharing knowledge and experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
GUI needs an overhaul. It is a bit clunky and cumbersome to use. Also some things that you would expect to be built-in features turn out to not be built-in and require third party products/software to implement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to quickly push out security patches, new software, etc. Also we have much better understanding of our computers in terms of OS version, applications installed, and other software and hardware analytics.
