Very opaque pricing / billing practices, unhelpful support
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to spin up ETLs from various data sources straight into data warehouses. It works really well for low-volume data sources such as Google Sheets etc. effectively cutting the engineer in the loop from these data sources.
It is easy to spin up sources from high-volume data sources like Google Analytics, Meta Ads etc. but be extremely aware that this is very cost ineffective usage of the platform.

What do you dislike about the product?
Extremely opaque billing practices. Our bill shot up about 5x month over month with no notice because of very loose usage of "free historical syncs."
The initial trial period for connectors obfuscates billing for connectors and the platform does not provide any control over your spending (such as maximum spend limits or accurate spend forecasts). In conjunction with how the usage is calculated - effectively, you will get charged 80% of the usage for the month on the first day and the rest throughout the month; this means that you do not have any control over your spending throughout the month.
On top of this, the support for billing is extremely thin and our experience is that Client Success team has a very limited understanding of billing and usage and even less agency over it.They will hop on a call when you want and they will act emphathic etc. but in our experience, they never follow-up on their action items. Extremely unhelpful and patronizing attitude in general.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used fivetran to extract data from various sources and sink it in our data warehouse. It does this job relatively okay but the billing practices make the tool effectively a very low ROI investment, I'd recommend just going the traditional ETL route.

Amazing integrations
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of connector use and variety of connector ecosystem. A lot of their connectors have really good schema which naturally fits the use case. Also whenever in doubt the documentation is very good, I refer to it
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is pretty confusing and its a bummer that their logging feature is only available in a paid plan. They should really give solid examples on their website.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Google Ads, Bing, Yahoo Search data. Also GSC Data is super useful.
Great Product, but Beware the Cost
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran is almost unbelievably easy to configure and use. The free initial sync is an incredible feature, and MAR is pretty transparent and easy to work with. Fivetran support is also terrific.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost can be prohibitive, and new users really need to pay attention to what they're planning to ingest. Expense can get out of hand quickly, which means you may end up supporting multiple pipeline tools anyway.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Extremely easy to use--basically replaces half an FTE for us.
No-code, low fuss Extract Tool
What do you like best about the product?
- It is very easy to get started and ingest data. There is no infrastructure or code to manage
- There is a huge catalogue of connectors available which covers the requirements of most of the enterprise customers
- Fully managed service - that means you can set it and forget it without much maintainence

What do you dislike about the product?
- The pricing model is not very good. Pricing based on the monthly active rows is confusing and difficult to forecast the pricing
- Enterprise customers with a large amount of data might not find the pricing model very attractive.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Fivetran replaces inhouse data extraction python scripts and provides enterprise grade data, managed connectors that can pull data from a variety of sources.
- WIth this data engineers can focus more on delivering insights and data to business than spending hours writing customer extraction scripts and maintaining infra needed to run them

Fivetran is a useful service for optimizing your data organization and ELT processes
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran makes data engineering processes easier by replicating and automating our data warehouse complete with historical data. Using Fivetran's tables accelerates our time to publish data visualizations and help our chief-level staff perform using data-driven decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some services Fivetran offers - particularly with historical data and data warehouse tables - can be costly to automate and track. In some cases, there are accessible alternatives to track only a subset of this data for barely a fraction of the price.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we used Fivetran, it helped our organization track events and event history across our platform in a way that is enabling us to efficiently organize and visualize data even with a limited amount of team members. With Fivetran's data replication and automated table production, data analysts can pick and choose which fields they need for stakeholder data visualizations without having to wait for the data to be prepped, cleaned, and organized by a data engineer. This massively increases our time to publish Tableau dashboards and quickly have access to data and data history that we may not have been able to utilize previously.
Fast, easy data pipelines
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to add new connectors and get things up and running quickly!
What do you dislike about the product?
So far nothing. It's made things much easier and faster on our end. The ability to add connectors quickly and move our data has been really helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving data from various places into a single location.
We're using Powered by Fivetran for our customer experience
What do you like best about the product?
We love the range of connecters and destinations, the security (we work with investment managers) and the ability to embed Powered by Fivetran into our customer experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've certainly needed some help getting our connectors and processes set up and we had some onboarding issues but resolved now. Very help account manager and support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran provides us with the ability to connect to our clients data sources and bring that data into our benchmarking product - with our clients being comfortable that Fivetran is managing the process and the security.
Good product when it works
What do you like best about the product?
Connectors are great for speeding up and keeping our schemas up to date.
What do you dislike about the product?
The connectors often break or are missing information. They often do respond quickly enough unless I, a C-level exec, ask why they aren't fixing it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily ingesting our 3rd party and 1st party data
Great tool that get's the job done
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran connects to a variety of sources that are used throughout multiple industries. Usage of these connectors is as simple as being provided the correct credentials to the application and select what data you'd like to sync.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support could be better - it's really hit or miss on which support agent you get if a connection isn't working as expected. For example, I was having problems connecting to a connector and needed to go to the vendors (connectors) support to get a better work around; this kept my case open with Fivetran and still awaiting help further downstream from Fivetran Support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting data into the environment quickly and in a repeatable fashion for further transformation, analysis and ultimate consumption by end users.
Fivetran for Donuts
What do you like best about the product?
The integration between my POS data and anything else I might want to do with it is seamless
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing is a little higher than I wouldve hoped but ultimately, worth it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Projecting how many donuts to make each day using historical data extracted through Fivetran
