Pain-free, effective tool
What do you like best about the product?
In general, system is extremely simple & hassle free. Also reliable: essentially never experience the annoying little issues that pop up with other such tools. New account manager has been tremendous as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Last year, one connector broke & took months to get to sufficient resolution. From the outside it seems they overhauled the organization to prevent issues like this in future. Oh and pricing model changed from connector-based to consumption based :(
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Large portion of our ETL runs through Fivetran, including some customized pipelines. Also use it to upload ad hoc files (csv etc) to DW extremely easily

Great ETL tool
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran is very easy to set up and get going. I've used it to try out new data sources and do one off data pulls. It's generally reliable, emailing the admin team when there are issues. Overall, it's the best ETL tool I've used to get data into my warehouse.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have a complicated advertising MCC that links up to Fivetran. Since the data in that MCC is often bad, it tends to delay the sync sometimes. That's the only issue I've had with the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As someone who works in Business Intelligence, but isn't a data engineer, Fivetran has helped me easily get access to the data I need to create reporting. I've been able to test new sources of data and run sample analysis in a very short period of time. It makes my overall process easier and faster.
One of the best cloud data integration/pipeline tools
What do you like best about the product?
Quick data replication with minimal lag. Very straight forward and easy to follow setup. Automated notifications if data is out of sync. Saved lot time integrating data from various sources in our environment to our data warehouse (Snowflake). Fivetran's incremental syncs work seamlessly and uses lower overhead and provides consistent replication of data. Fivetran works on the product improvement very rapidly and keeps us updated on the new features and improvements. Overall, a great product!
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasional delays happen with our connectors due to some changes done by Fivetran developers, without our knowledge and full resync times take really longer (1-2 days) for some connectors. Customer/technical support can do better job. Expensive in terms of cost when compared to other ETL/data pipelines available in the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We saved lot time integrating data from various sources in our environment to our data warehouse (Snowflake). We can manage data syncs/ETLs without having to write/keep the code/jobs. Very quick setup process and is fully managed 24*7. Documentation on the connectors is also good...along with troubleshooting steps in case of any failures. we use different connectors that Fivetran offers and makes it easy for our reporting data preparation. Connectors which we use include...Oracle/SQL server/MongoDB/S3/Salesforce/Google analytics etc.

It just works
What do you like best about the product?
It works with little intervention and time from my team to manage
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation could be a bit more detailed
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data replication from source data to our data lake. It is easy to maintain
This tool became a game changer for our company
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of connecting the data sources and the transparent pricing model
What do you dislike about the product?
Previously one had to pay per connector, but now this problem is solved
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replication of data from the various systems (production database, LinkedIn, Google Analytics) to Snowflake
Easy ETL
What do you like best about the product?
- Fivetran offers a strong selection of data sources. During our time using Fivetran, we haven't encountered a time in which a data source that we needed wasn't already being offered as a connector.
- There is a great interface for fine-grain selection of which tables within a schema to sync. It is easy to see which tables have been selected, and for some connectors, individual columns can be selected to be synced with the warehouse.
- The health of each pipeline is visualised clearly and it is easy to set up alerts/manually trigger updates. Monitoring is an important element of any ETL tool, and so far we've found it easy to stay on top of it with Fivetran. The UI itself is very easy to read and understand, whilst the automated alerts let you know of any issues that the pipelines are encountering.
- The customer service team have become far more responsive than when we initially joined, and the service has now become a big plus. A few months ago, one of our connectors ran into an issue - during this time Fivetran were incredibly helpful in keeping us up-to-date with the progress being made to fix it.

What do you dislike about the product?
Previously I would have said the response time for any queries, but this has improved drastically during our time as a Fivetran customer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran allows us to pull data from a number of different sources into our data warehouse efficiently. The transformation layer allows to perform additional data cleaning before exposing it to the end users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a strong option for handling the ETL process.
Fivetran helps us stay focused
What do you like best about the product?
We don't have to spend much time thinking about Fivetran and that's a great sign it's doing what we need it to do. Hooking up new connectors is typically quick and straightforward to do with solid documentation, then beyond that it's usually hands off from there. When we need to go in to check something, the dashboard is simple, yet provides all the information you really need.
It's handy that they take care of the modeling side in the data warehouse, which they then provide well-maintained and nicely detailed schema diagrams for. We've also gotten solid response times from support and they've helped push through some connector changes for us with reasonable turnaround.

What do you dislike about the product?
The recent change to usage based pricing has added an additional aspect we have to consider and watch, although they've done a pretty good job keeping it transparent (i.e. fivetran_log connector). However, I do wish we always had granular control of what data we want to pull in from every connector (currently only available to some) as that can play big part in costs.
Generally positive experience with all the connectors we've tried, but as you can imagine, some are more mature or stable than others. It's probably a good idea to thoroughly test them out first especially if you're going to be highly reliant on one or two of them.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Fivetran to help us pull in data from other vendors into Snowflake...so our engineers don't have to. This means we don't have to worry about API integrations, deprecations, changes, or outages that can come up anytime. Ultimately, Fivetran helps us adapt to changes when it comes to vendor data. Whether those are changes vendors make to their API or new business requirements that brings in a new vendor, they're often able to take care of it for us so our team doesn't have to be distracted.
Fivetran made it incredibly easy to get the data we needed.
What do you like best about the product?
Working with the team at Fivetran was awesome. They made it super easy to get our data project over the finish line and helped us with every step of the process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. There was only one hiccup in identifying the right data source from our advertising platforms, but because we were able to get all the historical data it really wasn't an issue once we located the right source.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team was looking for a solution to funnel advertising data into our data warehouse so we can analyze our marketing campaign data in one centralized location.
FIveTran made our data pipeline easy to get up and running!
What do you like best about the product?
They have a broad range of connectors that should suit most businesses and their support is excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Re-syncing complete datasets can be costly under their new pricing model, but overall using FiveTran is cheaper for our company than hiring full-time data engineering staff. For our size and scale, their solutions work really well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using FiveTran to power our Data Lake - we make use of the Google Analytics, Webhooks, and Postgres Connectors to bring in all of data into one location that we can then use to run transformations against. FiveTran makes all of this very simple and we haven't had any problems with the solution since we set it up.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the cost of FiveTran against hiring your own Data Engineering team - for us FiveTran was significantly less and our existing engineering team could support it quite easily by comparison.
Fivetran is magic--transports what you want, all the time, with very little effort
What do you like best about the product?
Works with everything I want to bring data from, delivers it consistently (to BigQuery for me), and just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not the simplest thing to write your own functions to integrate from APIs that aren't natively supported, but at least it's an option, and it works well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We funnel all of the data we need (from SFTP sites, from Google Sheets, from DynamoDB, from Cognito, from Zendesk, from Five9, etc etc) to one place to query. It's the magical data lake transportation engine that you need.
