Great options for syncing databases
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use overall and to set up new connections. The layout makes it clear what the schedule is and where errors have happened.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing for flat files is not what we expected going into it. Because flat files do not have primary keys, every row in a flat file counts as a MAR every month, meaning you continue to pay for historical data throughout the year. This means the cost of some of our syncs are ~10x more than we expected going into it.
The advertised connections by Fivetran may be limited to either being a source or destination, but you do not know that until signing up and getting into the system. For example, Google Cloud Storage is currently a source but cannot be a destination.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Combining data from many different sources (flat files in SFTP, databases, etc.) into both a data lake and warehouse.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider a comprehensive list of required connections, both sources and destinations, current and future, before finding a suitable iPaaS solution.
Great ETL tool
What do you like best about the product?
It enables us to import a lot of data from a variety of data sources very easily.
Lots of different data sources.

What do you dislike about the product?
New pricing model lacks transparency and is really cumbersome
Technical support responsiveness is not the best. We often wait for days before getting an answer or a problem fixed.
Partial coverage on some data sources: for instance, you can get Hubspot CRM but not Hubspot ticket - make sure to check the data model to ensure connectors meet your needs.

What do you dislike about the product?
Customer support has room for improvement. Support professionals must be more technical, and there should be live support.
Several times, it took weeks to even get a question answered for something that could have been resolved in a few minutes.

Working with Fivetran is like choosing Comcast
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran's technical product supersedes the alternatives in features and reliability. There is a wide collection of connectors and the interface is generally clean and intuitive. I've only experienced downtime with them once over the last 13 months, which was allegedly due to a change in the Hubspot API that they weren't anticipating.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a pretty cold company to do business with. You will get worse terms when renewing your contract unless you commit to making a substantially larger purchase for the coming year. Make sure you leave ample time to work out a contract renewal before your current year is up because they won't let you pay on-demand / month-to-month while working out the details and *will* pull the plug on your servers/connectors if the contract isn't signed by midnight and make your life miserable. They also recently took away the ability to roll over credits so you now have to play a guessing game to "use them or lose them". I spent a month arguing with them that they had overbilled me in credits before they finally admitted their system had a bug. Considering they're already 5x the cost of the popular alternatives and have massive margins, the pushback I got on their billing error felt like mostly for sport. They also have interesting fine-print where your "free historical sync" isn't always free depending on the connector. Fivetran brings back memories of your 90s cell phone company or cable provider--you need them because they beat the alternative but you're also not happy about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are connecting our CRM and web traffic solutions into our data warehouse, allowing us to spend our time better understanding our business instead of writing API scrapers and maintaining infrastructure.
Great easy to use UI for ETL
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use and never run into issues trying to upload data to our cloud database
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't really use any other feature besides from the Upload
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can easily update data to our cloud database in seconds
Fivetran has multiple integrations that saved our team ton of time
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to control the synchronization updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
Admin UI is a bit too simple. Fivetran is missing a more complex permissions system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pulling data from FB and google analytics. Fivetran allows you to reduce the cost of ETL maintance.
Fivetran and ease of use
What do you like best about the product?
It's pretty easy to get things up and running with minimal dev effort. As a company that deals with multiple fast paced start ups, we need to be able to quickly gather data and not spend time on small tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
You are limited by the data model that fivetran has built out. This has been an issue when we try to scale our data capabilities. The connectors we've used usually have limits around historical information (faced this with Shopify and with Asana connectors). We've had to build and maintain our own etl tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gathering data for various sources (google analytics, Shopify, shipping partners, etc.), with minimal effort
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fivetran is excellent when you have a small data team. It allows them to focus on extracting value from the data, instead of building out data pipelines. As you grow the team, you will likely need to build your own pipelines.
Simple & Straight Forward
What do you like best about the product?
A direct and straightforward user interface to quickly jump in set up your connections. The drag and drop functionality makes it rather accessible across the board.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't jumped into the deep end yet, but I see that some logging features seem to be lacking. There were issues with Google sheets, but that may be user error, but I'm still investigating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bringing in various data sources into one singular source.
