Fivetran has helped me in two different SMB startups now jumpstart our ETL/ELT pipelines.
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of integrating a new data source with Fivetran with limited data engineering resources helps tremendously. We use a stack of Snowflake and Domo to collate and present findings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes connectors are not fully explained ahead of time to show what will be received from integrating them. The excellent news is Fivetran allows you to test new connectors for free.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralizing all our vendors and in-house data sources. Enabling reporting and data democratization.

Easy to use and great support
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran was an easy choice because it connects with all of our marketing platforms and database solutions we use across several different clients. Setting up new connections is effortless.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compared to other tools we have used for marketing data ETL, Fivetran doesn't offer as much in out-of-the-box aggregations. It's really just a straightforward method of getting raw data from sources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are now able to implement more robust analysis on marketing data and compare metrics between different sources easily. Having all of our data stored in a centralized BigQuery repository has been helpful in moving beyond the limitations of Supermetrics connectors in Data Studio.
Great ETL Tool to load data into Snowflake
What do you like best about the product?
Setting up most of the connectors is easy and they have lots of documentation available. The integration with dbt Core to power transformations has been very powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unable to do any kind of transformations or changes before the data is loaded into the destination.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unable to connect to a few data sources
Not dependable enough
What do you like best about the product?
Less expensive than main competitors for the most part.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not reliable enough.
FiveTran constantly fails to update connectors before API updates, resulting in very random and steep spikes in charges as their system continues to ping API over and over again when it continues to face errors due to calling depreciated version of API... as well as very unreliable flows of data.
Highly recommend testing any and all alternatives before proceeding with any tests with fivetran.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
just a data pipeline in place of having to manually maintain ETL scripts in Bigquery
Nice no-code ETL solution
What do you like best about the product?
Flexible table schemas if the API allows. Setting up most of the connectors is straightforward and they have heaps of documentation on the others. I appreciate that they're leaning in to dbt to handle transforms instead of trying to write their own UI. That might be less approachable for some teams, but if you're already converted to dbt it's great.
What do you dislike about the product?
I thought I wouldn't run in to anything it couldn't connect to--but it turns out I do fairly frequently. There are also some undocumented features that are a little frustrating. More than once I've had a customer service rep say they could enable something for me--but if I had not contacted them I wouldn't know that feature existed. Finally you are locked in to schema and table names very early in the process, so if you are going to be connecting a lot of tables in a lot of databases you need to be conscientious about naming conventions early on because changing is a pain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data aggregation for a host of marketing clients. We connect mostly Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Ads.
The fastest way to get operational data into a data warehouse.
What do you like best about the product?
The interface and user experience are straightforward and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not cheap and the pricing scheme is opaque. It also can get incredibly costly quickly if you don't scope your contract correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's great for federating data across operational platforms.
Quick and Easy but very expensive
What do you like best about the product?
The ease and the people who helped me throught the process.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is so very expensive. Also you can't set a hard limit on the amount of euro's you want to spend.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Extracting data from various sources to a datawarehouse. The benefits are that I have to invest less time to build it myself. Also it is less error prone
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it only if you want to get it up and running like hell. But it is very expensive.

What do you like best about the product?
The API is easy to use and integrate. I was able to in less than a day create an application that embeds FiveTran into our product. The APIs in postman was straightforward and made sense.
What do you dislike about the product?
There seem to be a lot of options in the API, but it is not documented very well. It would be great to have more detailed information about the options available and all the combinations for connection cards. It would be great if the connections cards walked the customer through the schema and column setup after the connections were made.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We allow customers to send us real-time data to monitor and track their ESG activity. We are now able to give customers more accurate information to help them make decisions that impact the environment in a positive way.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy adaptors that help in getting various different data sources connected quickly enables easy engineering in the data warehouse development. This is helpful!
What do you dislike about the product?
The limitation as many data sources like AppsFlyer which is the most commonly used tool is not supported. Also the support from the team on any such cases are very poor. We really are chasing every day to get this response but support is very bad!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bring data from various different data sources to our platform without having to write custom adaptors /additional engineering efforts to develop adaptors or maintain those are the benefits.
Great software to start an organizations data platform
What do you like best about the product?
Great how many sources it plugs into, and how easy it is to get setup (very helpful documentation)
What do you dislike about the product?
Has missing elements of a general marketing stack... the types of integrations Segment leans heavily into
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sourcing data from all departments of our company. Fivetran syncs with all of the major sources of information.
