Best RAD Platform
What do you like best about the product?
The speed of integrations, architecture management and backed capabilities are outstanding. The capabilities to iterate on front-end are increasing a lot and its getting easier for Tech Leads to have discussions with Product owners and immediately iterate on the solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing has become a bit unclear, however the platform is growing a lot and there are a lot of learnings that will help the company reach a good outcome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Full replacement of our old ERP system, from B2B to B2C applications. Mobile and Web.

Great promise, but with the possibility to create a an architecture of chaos if not governed right.
What do you like best about the product?
Speed of development, good overview of applications, good automated suggestions to improve code. One thing that's absolutely great about outsystems is that everything seems to be connected and actually works... example: changing a column name in a table will be reflected immediately across all forms, queries and logic where you've used that table. I've seen many flow editors, and outsystems is one of the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that this speed comes with a price of bad architecture in the absence of a Domain Architect. It's too easy to create dependencies across modules, without a proper API Manager interface. Point to point connections can be created almost unknowingly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Invoicing, Payments, Mobile apps, integration API's. All with great speed. Last thing we've implemented was a paypage, that calls an API from a credit/paypage company. It took 2 days to implement, including UI. One other thing that's important is that litterally any developer (front end, back end, database etc etc) is able to use outsystems in no time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have an architect present at all times. It's too easy for developers to make a mess that is disconnected from the actual Business Domains. It's too easy to create point to point connections, even if outsystems does provide all the right tools to create a good architecture.
Refactor Oracle Apex applications into Outsystems
What do you like best about the product?
In developer studio I really like the intuitive way of creating a datamodel. I also like how quickly you can make validations. I used to do this in PL/SQL which is doable, but Outsystems really helps me with making complex validations simple with visualizing it. I am used to drawing business logic before I start coding. In Iutsystems I can draw and I am done, I do not have to transform the drawing into syntax afterwards.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am originally an Oracle developer and I am used to work from repositories (SVN/Git) which allows me do deploy delta's. My experience in Outsystems is that a single change is always a full deployement. I would like to deploy delta deployments as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am rebuilding Oracle Apex web applications into Outsystems web applications. With Outsystems I can prototype all the time with me end user. So my end result is better than the original Apex application. I can't wait to use the Experience Builder as UX is apart from Outsystems at the moment in my team. With this way I prototype even faster than I do now.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start building a platform strategy, don't just do a PoC.

What do you dislike about the product?
BPT could be more advanced and i look to be able to debug server actions in servicestudio without having to call it from another one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
faster business value. Can develop at least 2 times faster compared to tools/platforms used before
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using BPM take a look at BPT before using it because at the moment it is not a good subtitute for BPM
Quick up and running app

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its really very good but the price is too high in alot of cases if you are not going to have a few teams on it.
Easy to learn, fun to use
What do you like best about the product?
Outsystems takes away the boring parts of programming (missing parentheses and semicolons, missing dependencies) so that I can focus on what's important: building cool solutions for my clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. I am not too great with css though, so when I want to adjust the standard look of things, it can be a bit of a struggle.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making data from our DB2 legacy system available for internal and external use. Made a mobile app for chartered trucks.
Leading -code application platform
What do you like best about the product?
Speed, time to aggregate data and integrate to different data respositieries. Time to implement first version of user interface i.e. how application should look like. Good built-in user interface libraries. Continues integration and deployment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Response time from Outsystems support services. Some bugs with the platform and development tools. Some limitations with native android and ios apps. A lot of manual work needed to manage native mobile app publishing, ios certificates and android keystores.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Manual business process automation and visiblity to overall data. Benefits have been realized in about 30 different applications due to having a mobile optimized user interface to legacy many legacy systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Currently leading platform, not meant for citizen developers. True software development professionals can get full value out from it.
