Accelerating Application Delivery with Flexibility and Control

  • September 08, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
OutSystems makes it incredibly easy to build and deploy enterprise-grade applications at speed. The low-code approach allows both technical and non-technical teams to collaborate seamlessly, reducing delivery timelines without compromising on scalability. I particularly like the visual development environment and built-in integrations, which cut down repetitive work. The platform also provides strong governance, version control, and security features that give confidence for mission-critical projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
While OutSystems is powerful, the initial learning curve can be steep for developers who come from traditional coding backgrounds. Some advanced customization still requires coding, which may surprise teams expecting purely drag-and-drop. Licensing and scaling costs can also add up quickly for larger organizations, making it less accessible for smaller teams with tight budgets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OutSystems has helped us address the challenge of delivering applications faster without sacrificing quality. Previously, development cycles were lengthy, with frequent bottlenecks around integrations and UI consistency. With OutSystems, we can rapidly prototype, iterate, and release applications, which has significantly reduced our time-to-market. The platform also helps in modernizing legacy systems by connecting them with newer digital solutions, ensuring business continuity while still innovating. This has resulted in improved team productivity, reduced technical debt, and faster response to business needs.

Outsystems: Accelerate your business apps

  • August 04, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is very robust without compromising on customisation or pixel-perfect. It is also developer-oriented: it facilitates all steps of the application lifecycle from a technical and management point of view, unifying the tasks involved in development and ensuring optimal technical quality with its own tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest concern with Outsystems is the new platform, ODC. There is no clear plan to migrate to the new platform. In fact the company itself has announced that they are going to give up on their idea to stop supporting OS11, as the new platform is not yet ready to support all the functionalities that we already have and work perfectly on OS11.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Right now, Outsystems allows us to mitigate a big gap that exists in our company: The adaptability to new requirements in a business-demanding way. It is common for our businesses to have to adapt to new requirements due to changes in the environment, regulations or market environments, and therefore they need a sufficiently flexible solution that favours time-to-market.

Global grocery retailer embracing the power of low code

What do you like best about the product?
OutSystems in Carrefour is highly valued for its speed in application development, enabling teams to build and iterate quickly with minimal hand-coding through a user-friendly, drag-and-drop interface. It supports robust integration with legacy and third-party systems which is beneficial in our landscape, offering flexibility for complex environments. The platform enables cross-platform development, allowing the creation of web and mobile apps from a single codebase, and provides enterprise-level scalability and security. OutSystems’ strong community, extensive documentation, and marketplace, empowers my development teams to innovate efficiently and respond rapidly to changing business needs which is exactly what we need
What do you dislike about the product?
We at Carrefour believe the main drawbacks aboutOutSystems relate to cost and platform limitations. For enterprise-grade projects, the pricing can become prohibitively high, especially for larger teams or projects with heavy integration needs. Additionally, while OutSystems is great for rapid development, the low-code approach can limit customization, which can be frustrating for experienced developers who want more flexibility and control over the code. Some of our developers also note that the performance of OutSystems apps may lag in highly complex applications or where advanced features are required, and it may not be ideal for apps that need frequent, intricate updates. next we also have the ODC roll out which is pushing us back since a shift in focus and finally, the learning curve for understanding OutSystems’ specific logic and architecture can slow down teams unfamiliar with low-code platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
the main problem is time to market. with outsystems we are managing to outpace our competitors with time to market for new apps giving us a big strat benefit.

The easyness to develop applications and the way you can structure your architecture.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price. It's quit expensive to run Enterprise applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the past we had to hire serveral developers to create and update software. With the migration to Outsystems we can handle those actions with internal colleagues.

Significantly reduces business application development time, costs and simplifies the process.

What do you like best about the product?
With about 9 years of expirience with using OutSystems platform in TBC Bank I can say with confidence that it significantly reduces business application development time, costs and simplifies the development process.

With power of low-code language of OutSystems development team is focused on key business feature implementation and important architectural consepts rather than on technical details and bring value to business in shortest and easiest way. Platform simplifies business fieature implementation on all levels of software, integration with external systems, data, logic, user interface, business process. Single developer can cover development of all parts of the solution, therefore OutSystems developer is full-stack developer.

Fundamental parts of entire SDLC and CI/CD processes are easely managed with platform tools. LifeTime takes care of entire application deployment process from development to production and also privides rich API to customize deplyoemtns with custom CI/CD pipelines.

Platform allows you to extend its capabilities with custom .NET code, therefire giving almost unlimited possibilities.

Has sufficient versioning and collaboration functionality for cuncurent development.

OutSystems out of the box provides all cababilities not only to implement business application, but also tools to monitor and manage them.

Platform is used daily to by approximately therteen dedicated agile teams to deliver new features to mission critical solution.

The customer support service meets our expectations, we are getting help we are expecting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Actually there are few thing that I can list here.

First, relatively it is more complicated to find competent OutSystems developer or motivate existing one to switch technology, the last one is more related to mindset. During my practive best way was to tech traditional developers.

Second is challenge with implementing listeners to integrate with message brockers on the server side, like RabbitMQ, you can implement pull requests but not subscriber. Similar applies to UI communications with the server, it is not possible to use web sockets like commonucation.

Third issue is related to more advance source control features like branching to support isolated, idepended parall development. Because of the nature of the platform it uses different approach rather than branching - Feature Toggles, but this forge component is not supported.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
WIth OutSystems platform we have implemented Loan Origination Solution for all lending domains and succesfully achieved goals with less resources that in case of traditional technologies.
