IBM DB2 is the best RDBMS used to store, analyze and manage data efficienctly

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing which I like about IBM DB2 is that much larger database files can be accommodated in it. As big projects require this kind of database as large amount of data can be stored in it.We can easily change the view of query window.We can manage a large data with Db2.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing that makes me to dislike it is that there is no real information value in messages and statistics pointing out the plan name, because there is only one plan. But this does not affect much.There is no debugging feature provided in DB2. It's not available for free users if your are integrating it with your web application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM DB2 in my project as it is has SQL compatibility along with Advanced storage optimization which helps to optimize large queries.Also DB2 product is extended with the support of Object-Oriented features and non-relational structures with XML.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd strongly recommend DB2 because of its secure features when we are working on a sensitive data set.We can easily manage the data and reference can be easily established between created tables.

Powerful SQL
One of the best query optimizer
Flexible (to use and to manage) functional architecture
Flexible product hierarchy (editions and licensing)
High level of automation for maintenance tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no powerful management tool like Oracle OEM
No built-in "lightweight" management tool (like SQL-developer)
IBM Data Studio requires significant system resources with not enough functionality
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I took part in migration of banking system from Oracle to DB2 (Linux) that reduced cost of system (support and evolution) for our customer.

Invite consultant from IBM or their partner to show you how to easy use/support this product
and which advantages does it bring.

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of using ibm data studio is you get an easy interface to work on both backend and front end platforms. I n a single tool you can work on java as well as databases
What do you dislike about the product?
Well there is not much to dislike about the tool. One thing i recommend the should improve is the workspace collapsion
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am extracting big data sets with the help of this tool. I can perform complex sql queries and get the results.

Start Up of the Db2 is very slow
Cannot use other query language to solbe problem

Different from other Database management tool in the market shifting from other Database can make it difficult.

What do you like best about the product?
good to use to learn sql, run queries on a small data sets.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software is hard to debug sql queries and the database is hard to view through command prompt.

Worked on assignments in school to write queries and create databases.

To much stable and robust database !

What do you like best about the product?
I started my career on Mainframe technologies and for database was DB2. Initially I was bit reluctant to learn and felt little cumbersome as we are more comfortable with GUI/ UI interfaces. It was black and white screen with CUI interface. But our product was insurance and very complex one with huge data in it. Whenever we fired any SQL command expectation was to return almost immediately. And to process the batch jobs, security features. So eventually when I realized those points I started lovin DB2. And those products were developed 40-50 years back and that time DB2 was very popular. Amazingly today also it is working without any issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
May be the interface, installation, maintenance cost and process. It was not very fancy. Menus were to give command by interning the options. No usage of mouse. Again I think that is not the limitation of the RDBMS (DB2). DB2 point of view may be many commands are not there if we compare with today's Oracle one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I started working on the product which was designed, developed in DB2. Benefit I can say the reliablity, security, capability to handle huge data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If looking for a secured database capable to handle huge data you may consider IBM DB2. It is quite stable with outstanding support systems.

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to work with, takes little maintenance, has lots of tools readily available to access the database.
What do you dislike about the product?
I truly can't think of anything that I dislike other than I think many more should hear about and know about Db2. I've worked with a lot of databases and by far Db2 is my favorite.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I consult and many of my customers use Db2. I greatly appreciate seeing continued advancements to improve Db2. The most recent updates were the biggest since the intro of AS400.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is easy to work with, reliable, low maintenance, easy to learn, lots of tools available to work with Db2.

What do you like best about the product?
Db2 is a rock solid database offering lots of functionality. IBM provided an XML data type early in the market and provides now temporal tables and time travel SQL since years again being one of the first offering this. The optimizer has always been cost based and was improved over the years. With BLU also column oriented tables are supported providing great speed for analytical front ends. The community edition is free and can be used in production enviroments - a good point to start.
What do you dislike about the product?
The market penetration and the reputation is not reflecting the real product - that is a pity. The educational material is limited and it is hard to get people trained on the current version of the product. Getting people with Db2 skills is hard as a result of the things mentioned.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Db2 is used for many data Warehouse solutions providing a solid base for analytical queries and applications.

Be open minded and give it a try it is definitely worth it.
