An excellent database, but difficult to study...
What do you like best about the product?
It is a robust, reliable database designed to support large workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
Extremely difficult to learn. All companies I've met that use DB2 use it in Mainframe environments, which is practically impossible to replicate on a small scale to study. And all training I've seen for DB2+Mainframe, are absurdly expensive, because the professional who can teach is expensive and the environment to study too. That's why I see few professionals working with this technology. To be honest, I don't remember any DBA my age who paid to learn DB2; the few I met, already worked in a company and received the training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The last project I worked on directly with DB2 was in 2011. As I couldn't learn the technology, I focused my studies on competing databases such as Oracle and MSSQL.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You have to calculate very well the financial cost of using IBM. When I had access to the costs, compared to Oracle and MSSQL, it was the highest.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Back end for apps, handles large volumes of data with ease, adapters to connect with other technologies
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use db2 if you are looking for a scalable multi user , fast and secure db.

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing much for now. Every edition is designed for a particular kind of user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this as a backend data system used in our application integration process where frontend application interface deals with the customers or users and this Db2 use to store the data in bulk
Low performance compared to other databases.
What do you like best about the product?
easy to use, syntax similar to other DB platforms
What do you dislike about the product?
Low performance compared to other databases.

Great for IBM integrated software
What do you like best about the product?
The transaction speeds are high and it is good for targeting ibm specific systems, however, is outdated and less flexible than newer offerings in the market.
What do you dislike about the product?
Less scalable for more modern apps, which is why most people are going away from traditional rdbms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Java applications use this for the backend data in legacy applications. Helps with generic functionality and workflows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would steer towards oracle or MySQL for traditional relational DB systems, and consider db2 a little outdated.
