What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped us decouple of microservices architecture vai API design and allowed us to scale at individual component levels. Also created to our scalability needs at each component level with flexibility for configuring security options. We now serve around 17 million customers daily on new applications driven by Kong Gateway.
Simple to use and configure, works great and very resilient.
What do you like best about the product?
Documentation and user friendly interface and support when paying customer
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost of some features like service mesh where Istio is free and as good product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This resolved the complexity of handling and creating host addresses for all APIs that we are currently hosting. The gateway is the way to go to handle all different traffic coming in and out of the K8 cluster.
Excellent API Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Kong API is an excellent API Gateway service that allows for multi-node scaling It also grants low-level access to traffic control and monitoring of inbound and outbound traffic
What do you dislike about the product?
Kong API has been great There have been issues with support management and pricing, but these issues are minor
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
API Scaling. Traffic Monitoring
Good tools with lots of security feature and leading market on api gateway
What do you like best about the product?
Kafka API Gateway is full of security and scalability features which were the main reasons we moved to Kong API Gateway. It is cheaper as well compared to Google API GEE and other API Gateway offerings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Kafka API Gateway needs further simplification. Also resource material needs to be improved. There are not many courses available which can be referred by learner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is solving security requirements and allows me to add custom authentication which is difficult with other API gateway. Also, scalability is another advantage of Kong API Gateway.
Light, fast Api management
What do you like best about the product?
Easily deployable, lightweight. Simplest way to handle and manage api gateways
What do you dislike about the product?
Slightly expensive for small team, rest all is decent about kong
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Have few APIs in to host and manage as part of my organization, makes my task easier.
Kong API Gateway review
What do you like best about the product?
The dashboard actually makes sense now: I used to dread explaining API performance to our product team, but Kong's analytics are pretty straightforward. I can literally show them a graph and say "here's where things slowed down" without getting into the technical weeds.
Kubernetes setup was surprisingly smooth: I'll be honest, I was expecting a headache when we moved to containers, but Kong just... worked? The ingress controller picked up our services automatically. Saved me probably a week of manual configuration.
No more 3am deployment calls: Being able to tweak rate limits or add authentication without taking anything down has been huge. Last month during Black Friday traffic, I adjusted our rate limiting on the fly while sitting in my pajamas. My sleep schedule thanks Kong for this.
Finally, consistent environments: Our staging environment actually mirrors production now. No more surprises when we deploy - what works in dev actually works in prod.

What do you dislike about the product?
Look, Kong's solid, but it's not perfect:
The Lua thing is annoying: If you need custom plugins, you better know Lua or be ready to learn it. I spent way too many hours on Stack Overflow figuring out basic syntax. Would love a simpler way to write custom logic.
Documentation feels incomplete sometimes: The basics are covered well, but when you hit edge cases, good luck. I've had to reverse-engineer solutions from GitHub issues more times than I'd like.
Monitoring could be better: I still use external tools to keep an eye on resource usage. Would be nice if Kong gave me better visibility into how much CPU and memory it's actually using.
Initial setup was overwhelming: My first time setting up Kong, I stared at the config files for like an hour. A setup wizard would've saved me a lot of confusion.
