An excellent solution
An excellent support team and great product, we are using it for VPN connections for our company and it works great.
Non Cloud
The product is not compatible with AWS standard procedure; Cloud Init, User Data, Cloud Formation. Usable only for manual configuration, which is contradicting the reason why people are in AWS (automation). No clear documentation to make it work, like people have time to guess and troubleshoot your product?!? I use the paid version. Now will abandon this product.
Excellent appliance at fair price
We have been using VyOS for standard and dynamic (routed) VPNs, GRE tunneling, NAT, Firewall and it delivers everything with rock-solid stability. The CLI is very intuitive and easy to understand even if you have never used VyOS before (of course some networking background would be required). The price/performance ratio is perfect fit for hybrid dispersed environments, making the "journey to the cloud" more affordable and easier.
A highly reliable and reasonably priced router/VPN/firewall Network Operating System
We've been using VyOS in production on our networks for about five years now, and it's provided rock-solid service. We moved to Sentrium for professional support, which we haven't had to use much - but when we did, the response times and quality of assistance were top tier, making it absolutely worth the price.
Highly recommended.
Solid appliance for terminating IPsec in the cloud
My organization uses VyOS appliances to implement a security services VPC for other VPCs in our infrastructure. We've been very pleased with the stability and performance. If you are looking to "roll your own" NAT instance, you may want to consider using VyOS. One major caveat to deployment is a complete lack of documentation for VyOS's cloud-init implementation, which was re-written for 1.2. This a big pain point for us as our infrastructure is codified in terraform. Overall, I would encourage companies with complex VPC networking requirements to evaluate this product.
