Seamless cloud integration facilitates automatic account creation and real-time app connections for efficient processes

  • March 05, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Workato as middleware for cloud integration within my organization. It is employed to integrate systems such as ERP and customer planning systems. The automation capabilities are particularly useful for onboarding a new employee, allowing for their access to be automatically set up across approximately twenty systems such as payroll, training portals, Salesforce, and SAP ERP.

What is most valuable?

The main benefits of Workato for me are that everything is cloud-based, eliminating the need for installation or maintenance. It allows app-to-app and real-time integrations, which significantly enhance process efficiency. When an employee joins, accounts are automatically created. Moreover, AI automation simplifies integration development by understanding requirements from prompts and creating the necessary automation.

What needs improvement?

The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) capabilities could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Workato for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find Workato stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In my experience, it is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I reach out to the professional services team or customer success team for technical support, and they provide immediate responses.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am working with a Boomi solution alongside Workato.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup process is straightforward for me as there is no need for extensive setup, allowing direct development.

What was our ROI?

In my experience, we have seen a return on investment, with results visible within a week.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Workato is a SaaS product, and its pricing depends on usage.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I also work with a Boomi solution.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Workato for even small customers who may not have a large IT firm, as it can be used as an integration product to automate business processes. Overall, I rate it nine out of ten.

Efficiently integrates customer data and reduces development time through automation

  • February 25, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

When I was at HighRadius, I was leading the integration team, and we were using Workato to integrate customer data from their systems to our systems. We needed to integrate data from various data points and bring it into HighRadius systems for client projects. This was the main use case for Workato.

What is most valuable?

Workato reduces total development time as it generates code seamlessly and integrates with SQL databases or APIs through configuration. This automation facilitates efficient integration of customer data from their systems into our systems. It effectively handles real-time data integration with moderate volumes, and development time is significantly reduced by its automation capabilities, which are beneficial for both SQL databases and APIs.

What needs improvement?

The data flow and debugging processes need improvement, especially for tracing issues. Additionally, Workato struggles with scalability when handling high volumes of data, such as terabytes, requiring chunking for initial data loads. While it works well with moderate volumes, it requires enhancements to handle larger data volumes more efficiently.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Workato for about one and a half years recently. However, I had used it previously when I was at Saeronlabs.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

For daily runs, Workato is stable and there is no latency issue. However, during the initial data loads with large volumes, Workato was unable to handle the data effectively, which indicates stability issues under high loads.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are scalability limitations with Workato. The solution could not handle high data volumes during initial loads for one of our clients, which required us to break the data into smaller chunks for processing.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and technical support from Workato were good. Whenever we faced issues with data volume, the support team helped us by suggesting solutions like breaking the data into chunks.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate Workato an eight out of ten.

While it has a lot of potential, there are areas like scalability and debugging that require improvement.

Easy to use for a low-coder like me, but powerful too!

What do you like best about the product?
Workato is easy to use once you get to know it. The ability to connect my very focused multimedia asset management tools via APIs and webhooks is super useful. I am a post production project manager and we have a number of systems that need to be connected to enable our remote users to get their work done. A lot of whats involved is sharing links to videos, updating google sheets and updating Monday.com boards - often with the same information. We are almost finished desigining a system where both the google sheets and Monday boards are kept in sync via workato recipes that map the data by column, and in some cases the changes to the google sheet are automatically triggered by events in our Media Access Management system - via webhooks and another recipe. Workato is making it easy for us to transform the RAW json data coming from the webhook into actionable data for google sheets, then remap that data the columns and sync it to Monday.com!
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve was pretty steep, but starting with a simple recipe helped. Initially I found the error handling logic difficult to get my head around. But a combination of using AI helpers and support from Workator developers allowed me to understand it's importance. From there I was able to move onto more complicated data transformation recipes and build my own error handling into it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workato helped me to work out how to use webhooks to trigger workflows (which I don't use that offten). Previously I have used tools like IFTTT but I progressed pretty quickly from the simple logic that they provided. Workato has all these great data transformation features that helped me to shift data around and map differing fields so they play nice together. A great example was connecting Monday.com boards to google sheets and automatically upding column data based on changes - in both directions. This is important as some other workflow tools only connect sheets and Monday in a single direction.

Top iPaaS in support options and updates

What do you like best about the product?
Workato's recipe editor is fluid, intuitive, and easily customizable when you need something more than an out-of-the-box solution. Upgrades and updates are frequent and the company is full of friendly, helpful people.
What do you dislike about the product?
If it can be considered a flaw, Workato's support infrastructure is a bit complex: they have a knowledge base, forums, CSRs, QA developers, and in some accounts a Solutions Consultant. Who/what to turn to for which issues one may have can be its own learning curve and/or frustration. Additionally, there is a class of error (Workato-side resource overage) that will not show an audit trail for the end user to troubleshoot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The heaviest lifting Workato does for us is orchestrating video conferencing scheduling for our clients while updating our CRM and cloud storage services across multiple disparate platforms. We also utilize Workato as a source of truth determiner, propagating data from a master platform to all relevant subsidiaries. Both of these functionalities result in significant reduction in hours spent, as well as human error.

Automative

What do you like best about the product?
Workato is a easy tool/platform to use for those who have no prior knowledge in tech or those who have some.

It is easy to create integration of different platforms easier by using features like API Platform, Custom connectors, Embedded Solutions etc. provided by Workato.

The feauters I like are Custom SDK, API Platforms which helped me a lot in creating and maintaining different integrations.

The customer support is also good, they are very responsive and quick in resolving issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
In some areas it is not very dynamic. Like switching different connectios and use of some libraries in SDK Tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Workato for integrations of different platform by using either SDK or API platforms. By using those features I can create automate synchronization between two platforms.

What do you dislike about the product?
The number of features for HTTP calls could be further increased.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I need to pass data from my ERP to a vendor in JSON format. Workato is able to be the middleware to get all this automated and formatted.
