A versatile platform with robust query capabilities
What do you like best about the product?
What I really like about Starburst is how much better it makes managing our scattered data. And we’ve integrated it with S3 and Snowflake to move data in a way that’s not manually moving data. This is incredibly user friendly, and enables us to run SQL queries with minimal hassle which saves us so much time. And just its broad feature set one in particular is that its real time queries ability also keeps our work flows efficient and responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Starburst’s biggest drawback, for small teams that are scaling, is the cost. It’s also a little more technical to setup and configure than some teams have readily available expertise for. Some of our projects have slowed down due to these challenges as we become more dependent on IT help. While it’s well integrated it can be more complex from a technical perspective so onboarding new team members can take longer and be more difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Breaking down data silos is one thing I love about Starburst, because we can query multiple sources all in one place, e.g. Google Cloud and on premises databases. We’ve spent tons of time manually merging data and it’s saved us that time. It’s easy to manage the large datasets because of its smooth integration and features like the SQL based system. This has been a game changer to decision making as it helps us make decisions across departments more efficiently, and work quicker on complex analytics.

Efficient solution for data queries across multiple sources
What do you like best about the product?
When it comes to what I like most about Starburst, I believe that one of the greatest benefits is the ability to run highly complicated queries on many data sources simultaneously, and the fact that it can do it without having to shuffle the information. This makes our analysis work much easier. Integrating with reporting tools like Tableau improves our reporting by adding rich visualization on top of the provided data. The ability to quickly and effectively process complex questions further enhances the value of detailed data analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue that may be associated with using Starburst is the relatively high cost structure that may not be sustainable for teams and businesses of a moderate size. Due to this, it becomes quite challenging to justify the cost against the benefits that come with using this device. Additionally, although it is robust in many ways, there is always the issue of slow query speed when dealing with very large datasets. This occasional lag can cause havoc for data analysis and decrease the overall efficiency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Starburst has revolutionized the manner in which I am able to process data from various sources as an organization. Before, consolidation of data was time consuming but today the queries that would have taken a lot of time can easily be run across different databases. It has enhanced effectiveness and expedited decision making. Another advantage that has emerged from interconnection with BI tools for additional reporting is the enhanced refinement of the strategic plans and analyses of data.
A true game changer for many data querying processes
What do you like best about the product?
One point worth considering is that Starburst is designed to work with various data sources which means that data processing is a lot easier. The plethora of features it has especially on querying large is quite helpful in enhancing our work progression. We have connected it to other applications such as our BI tools and the data lake and no problems have arisen from it. This integration capability is a game changer because it eliminates the difficulty in managing data from multiple sources thus enhancing our workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall, the main drawback of Starburst is that it is not very easy to set up, particularly for first time users. This resulted in some discrepancies in our work schedule as we anticipated in our project plan. Furthermore, owing to our rarity in its application, it took extra time to familiarise ourselves with it. The customer support is also not up to the mark at some times, they take more time to reply and on occasions this delay has messed up our working schedule as we needed immediate help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has been advantageous for Starburst to revolutionize the case of managing data across multiple sources. Before, on the other hand, acquiring data was quite a task and made our operations very slow. Now with Starburst, I can query the data from different platforms without moving and this has enhanced our working rate and decision making processes. Besides, it has positively influenced our team’s efficiency and helped to prioritize more important strategies rather than spending time on such matters as data processing.
We fixed many issues with efficient data access and querying solution
What do you like best about the product?
I personally favor Starburst for its enhancement on the query aspect and the numerous features it brings to the table. The ability to work with several sources at once is very useful and simplifies the process of querying data a lot. It has many features and I like that I can always get help from customer support when I need something explained to me. It has only been used more frequenlty in our team due the reliable and fast results it produces making it one of the most useful tools in the team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing that I do not like with regards to Starburst is the fact that its interfaces are very confusing. Many of its features are not immediately obvious and can be confusing to a new user, therefore, making it take a steep learning curve. These make our onboarding time consuming occasionally leading to usage blunders. In addition, documentation is not as detailed as they ought to be, making it hard to address problems as soon as possible. These problems contribute to the decreased productivity and longer time taken to train new employees.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Starburst addresses the problem of organizing data available from various sources and querying them. Indeed it has eased our working by providing insights which enable us to make good decisions within shorter time. To me and my colleagues, it translates as less time on waiting for data and more time conducting data analysis. This efficiency helps us in managing our projects better and complete our work in the time that is set for it. The compatibility with other software creates a strong and well coordinated environment in data processes.
Discover the ultimate solution for data querying
What do you like best about the product?
One thing that strikes me about Starburst is that it can issue queries across many different sources of data quickly without having to stream the data about. This has reduced my time to prepare the data and our efficiency has improved greatly as a result. Besides, the customer support is great, they are always available when we have issues. The software work is rather efficient and is not fraught with failures or crashes, thus, our tasks are solved effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
One disadvantage apparent with Starburst is that, it is quite complex to set up and this needed a lot of time and technicality to accomplish. This affected us in the sense that it slowed down our productivity especially in starting the activities of the day. Furthermore, the large number of features is a bit challenging for newcomers and may increase the time learners need to understand the product fully. These challenges we identified delayed our first implementation and training cycles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Starburst makes the challenge of data fragmentation easier to address because we are able to query the data across different sources and types without the need to move the data. This has enhanced the data availability and also cut the time taken in data integration mechanism drastically. Besides, it adds value to our team since there is an opportunity to perform analyses and provide reports that contribute to faster decision making.
Supporting, tunning multiple workloads in production
What do you like best about the product?
Great support, awnser every question, very fast awnsers for first request. Great product, meet almost all ours needs. Delivery high quality and very acurate. It needs to improve on some points, but nothing that discredits or leaves something to be desired.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometime we expirienced some delay in ticket loop. Should invest efforts to make some features toggleable, make it more flexible. FTE, mult-tenant, and add some query history in console, with statistics , would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
After we make starburst (trino) available to all company members, changed the way they see data. Due to the nature of Trino it can connect to multiple databases/datastores we have no more delays to delivery information.

What do you dislike about the product?
Only nitpicky things here, like lack of autocomplete in the UI. Also, using the same Hive metastore across multiple catalogs results in all of those catalogs showing every schema in the metastore in every catalog that uses it. Would be nice to filter those.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Like I said in the beginning, it feels like we have unlocked our data for our data analysts and anyone at the organization that needs to get to some data that was previously difficult to access. Being able to query across several databases of different types is incredible and working seamlessly. Hard to imagine working without it at this point.

What do you dislike about the product?
The public facing documentation does not quite cover all the nuances of installation and configuration. We encounter a couple of scenarios where the documentation didn't go far enough with instructions. However, the account team were able to fill in the gaps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our challenge was allowing a single interface for data consumers and production processes to query across our established data warehouse and our lakehouse. Allowing us to link data that could not be linked before.
