What do you like best about the product?
It helps to make smarter decisions across the whole business and also quickly adapts to changes. You’re able to consider all of the possible options before responding in real-time, giving both you and the entire organization access to everything you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan can further work upon the usability, support, limited layer of information to provide a delightful end-user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using Anaplan for 6 years now across multiple use cases and it is always a pleasure to hear from our clients how useful it has been for them in terms of widespread planning across the organization which means that they have comprehensive information to continuously adapt plans as they sense changes in the market.
Powerful planning and modelling engine
What do you like best about the product?
* Anaplan is reliable, fast and guarantees consistent calculations are applied across very large datasets.
* A cloud base collaborative platform means there is no need to email files to colleagues and everyone is viewing real time data
* Easy to learn and intuitive platform with natural language syntax and a customisable user interface. With no particular IT background, I found it easy to learn as an experienced Excel user
* All the data in Anaplan's hyperblock is like a giant pivot table meaning reports and tables can be repivoted with different dimensions in a few seconds
* A cloud base collaborative platform means there is no need to email files to colleagues and everyone is viewing real time data

* Anaplan has a limited (but fast improving) range of formatting options
* Anaplan is a sophisticated platform and it can be tricky for end users to drill-down through some calculations
* Model building requires skilled and experienced resources which can be hard to find, although the Anaplan community is growing fast.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in finance and have implemented Anaplan for FP&A, overheads cost allocations, and long-term contract accounting. It is an extremely flexible tool with a large number of potential use cases beyond finance. The key benefits realized are shorter model turn-around times, primarily made possible through less manual intervention and less manual error. With much greater confidence in the results, this frees up time to interpret results and have better conversations with the business.

Model sizing limits and lack of alt hierarchy
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Excel-based models are slow because of their size and interlinked, meaning that forecasting has to occur at a higher level and is a genuinely manual process. By using Anaplan, the worry of speed to forecast and sending sensitive information over emails/slack/webchat goes away, while having a codified view of the calculations brings everyone onto the same page as to how we get to a number.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great tool to deliver time to value in forecasting models. Still, I'd be wary of the cost of the product, concerns around the sizing of the model, and no ability for alternate hierarchies.
Given that, I'd say many products out there have similar issues in some way, shape or fashion, however Anaplan does bring a modern maturity to the forecasting real of tooling.

When creating forumlas the system feedback can be vague when it doesn't work

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is highly customizable and Excel-like enough that it is an intuitive switch for business users. Building models doesn't require a heavy technical background which is key in empowering the business to lead their transformation. In memory calulation gives ability to have an end user's input seamless flow through to generate P&L impact, eliominating the need for batch processing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Large scale models may not be highly efficient and require breaking down components into spokes which then eliminates the power of real-time calculations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creates a structure to connect related planning concepts - margin planning, expense planning, etc. and centrally enforces data integrity through shared dimensionality. The ability to capture versions and scenarios is a clear advantage to excel based modeling.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have dedicated internal model builders from Day 1, do not wait until after your initial implementation to start skilling up your center of excellence. You will want to leverage the capabilities once you realize the power of the platform, and having a dedicated internal team from day one will help you to do that!
Flexible and Robust Planning Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility of the tool allows for every nuance of the business to be accommodated for. Although there are many similar processes across organizations, every business has unique needs. Anaplan's customization allows for all of these nuances to be reflected, and the connectivity of the tool simultaneously allows for instant collaboration within one system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Without a proper understanding of how a model within Anaplan is built and best practices of building, it can be easy to lose the simplicity and logical structure within a model.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Financial planning and analytics are often segmented across different teams within an organization, and this consolidation to a single system allows for these teams to communicate and view outputs in real-time. The elimination of communication lag allows for shorter cycle times and greater agility across the organization.

Reliable Cloud-Based Planning Platform
What do you like best about the product?
As a cloud-based planning platform, Anaplan has strong release management that, from my experience, there is no major problem encountered after scheduled platform updates. It underlines the benefits of having a cloud-based solution.
Training materials are great as they are built around different use cases to emphasize the Connected Planning message.
Anaplan Community is strong where one can post questions/ideas and expect responses from peers.

Business logic transformation during data load is not available that it needs to be done at the source system.

Building drivers-based operational planning which provides real-time insights. One source of truth shared among multiple uses cases.
Great Planning and Modeling Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is a cloud based technology that is used for planning and modeling . It is versatile and different planning needs can be fulfilled by using this .You can do you Supply Chain Planning ,Financial Planning ,Merchandise Planning ,Territory Quota Planning and what not !

What do you dislike about the product?
Since its a cloud based technology lot of Model builders can work on this at a same time .But the problem is if anyone does some error while implementation the system freezes for all .Sometime the error time even exceeds to 15 minutes .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am currently working in Supply Chain Planning and using the power of this tool we have implemented the requirement quite significantly and it has helped the clients to save quite alot revenue

Anaplan is very flexible and easy to change to suit the business requirements.

The revision tag sync process is difficult for multiple developments at the same time. Because partial changes can be synced along with an urgent fix.

Anaplan was implemented to allow for a single supply planning process. This standardization makes it easier for planners to cover each other.

Start small and build up. Don't try to tackle every single business requirement in the first implementation.
