Great reporting, quick data rendering, and excellent GUI
What is our primary use case?
Using Qlik Sense, we created many CXO & Senior Leaders dashboards. Qlik Sense is really helpful to leaders to get insights on time, and they can see granular level data easily. UI is superb and easy to navigate from one sheet to another.
Our company has a plethora of source systems, and providing a single source of truth via a common platform was a challenge. There was also a need for a self-service analytics platform that allowed businesses to make decisions on time using any device.
We needed to build a Common Reporting Platform that talks to multiple source systems and are:
- Visually intuitive
- Integrate Analytics with Mobile App
- Set up Data Governance and create an enterprise data warehouse
Multiple products were considered, but we chose QlikSense.
How has it helped my organization?
Initially, data was kept in silos and business users were reporting at their business level. It was a really cumbersome process to collate data at the company level. After Qlik Sense, we prepared data in one place and transformed it to create Qlik UI.
The company has a plethora of source systems, and providing a single source of truth via a common platform was a challenge. There was also a need for a self-service analytics platform that allowed businesses to make decisions on time using any device.
Proposed Solution
We worked to build a Common Reporting Platform that talks to multiple source systems and is visually intuitive, integrates analytics with mobile and has Data Governance.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable aspects of the solution include the :
- ETL and visualization, user stories, and insight advisor
- Self-Service - a clean and modern user experience with Global Smart Search, Associative Exploration, and Advanced Navigation
- Data Visualization or rich charting, visual interactivity, and smart visualizations
- Data storytelling
- Rapid API development
- Embedded analytics
- Custom extensions
- Powerful, multi-source data integration
- Direct discovery
- Qlik admin from the Qlik Management Console
- Qlik Sense Monitoring
- Deployment Console
- Data Governance
Qlik Sense brings in the concept of shared libraries where one user can create custom dimensions (even with drill-down functionality), measures, and even visualizations and save it to the "Master Items," from which the other users can simply drag and drop to use it for their analysis.
What needs improvement?
We are planning to move to Qlik SaaS to mitigate the below issues -
- The app performance is a challenge for all users
- Section access and other security parameters are complex
- Managing the environment is a major task for company upgrades are not being leveraged to the recent releases
- Regularly maintaining all the environments with the same version and implementations
- Auto ML is a need as this will help businesses make data-driven decisions.
- Use cases about salesforce embedding is critical
- Real time data ingestion and automaton of the ETL are becoming important
- Alerting and reporting for the business users for their analytics requirements is needed

It was complex migration process - Qlik Onprem to Qlik SaaS.
What about the implementation team?
Through Qlik Services, we migrated our dashboards to Qlik SaaS
What was our ROI?
We are able to save many manhours by automating the solution.
What other advice do I have?
Qlik Sense is excellent for Leadership reporting purposes. Its specialty is quick data rendering, and data drill-down, which has been quite useful. The GUI is excellent.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Private Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Learning Qlik
What do you like best about the product?
Qlik is user-friendly in the sense that most functions are drag and drop. Personally, I had limited experience with the product but since moving to using Qlik I doubt there will be any different program I'll use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much to dislike in my experience so far, I think that the only small thing I might suggest is for a quick way to see the source data more clearly but again this is splitting hairs nothing that breaks the experience or usability of Qlik.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Qlik has a diverse community, and they are constantly posting online to not only ask questions but answer them. The representatives of Qlik are all quick to reply and there are minimal wait times.

It drives the data driven decision making process.
What do you like best about the product?
Users of every skill level in my company is able to access insights on Qlik Sense. Very importantly for me though , is how Qlik Sense unifies all of my data sources , regardless whether they are app based data sources, traditional databases or cloud based services.
The above contributes to my ability to have a comprehensive view of my organizations data and generate broader insights, devoid of tunnel vision analytics.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is currently no way to analyze data live from the database side, without having to first upload the data into Qlik Sense. I have always thought this does slow down my workflow and I still feel the same way years later.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Qlik Sense takes me beyond mere query based analytics , by providing me with faster , broader interactivity and retainance of unrelated values in my queries, allowing me access values and insights which do not show in my original query results. Thus, I am able to spot hidden insights with less effort and less time.
E2E analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is a tool with multiple parts that allows you from the extraction and processing of data in real time to the automation of actions according to the data obtained, not just showing some graphics from a dashboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I like least is that some of these tools are licensed separately, greatly increasing costs, and that most of the improvements are only being implemented in the cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It unifies in a single tool almost all the needs of analytics. In addition, now with AutoML it also provides you with AI to make projections of the data you enter.

The date representation is very good and very easy to read for all levels.

Self service BI tool for modern world build on a true data platform
What do you like best about the product?
The most liked feature is the power of green, white and grey. Qlik Sense has the power to show not only what you have filtered, but what you are missing, showing and unearthing the hidden insights. The Qlik associate engine is one of the most powerful engines in this domain and has been a true leader in the BI/analytics space for years. It's very intuitive to use for end users and with the power of Augmented intelligence, you can get insights much faster. Furthermore, with alerts and Qlik applications on top, you can drive actions based on data, putting users in the proactive seat, rather than reactive ones.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of anonymous sharing of chart/dashboard feature. Other than that I can not think of anything that I dislike about Qlik Sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Qlik Sense allows you to pull data from multiple disconnected systems and build a data model that provides a holistic view of your business and unearth hidden insights.
Best BI Tool on the market
What do you like best about the product?
Having used Qlik for past 7 years, 2 Qlikview, 4 Qlik Sense Enterprise, 1 Qlik Sense Saas, i find the product amazing. Over the years they have been at the forefront of development and truely take on board their customers thoughts, opionons and feedback. Qlik Automations has been a game changer and we are moving more and more of our MS Automations over to Qlik. The new Qlik Authouring experience is fantastic and brings the overall feel of the product to a standard simialr to PowerBI but goes beyond.
What do you dislike about the product?
Qlik Mobile/Table App
Whilst usable i do feel is behind that of Power BI - more investment in terms of time and development here would go a long way. Access apps on the go is the way forward but i find when using it via the mobile/tablet, having to wait for it to render, to then expand a chart or table for it to re-render takes time, then you need to close that expansion to navigate elsewhere and in my opinion will put alot of users off using it.
Qlik Automations
A fantastic addition to their product offering and i use it ALOT. One of the drawbacks is whilst data can be read using blocks, Sharepoint, Dropbox, and OneDrive, i feel Qlik is missing a trick, they havent allowed or built yet the ability to read existing or store out to QVDs on the tenant
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MS Dynamics 365 Business Central Connector, we are currently one of many users of this financial system but Qlik hasn't yet developed a connector to thie system, the lines of PowerBI, Powerautomate and i think Zapier all have connectors. We have overcome the issue with use of the REST API connector and Qlik i believe are developing a connector but i think they need to do more in this space.
