Good GUI tool to work with a plethora of databases

  • July 28, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is very intuitive and easy to get up and running even for someone who is completely new to the Dbeaver application. Supports opening multiple query script files side by side and even connected to multiple databases at the same time. The commit mode can be set to Auto or manual modes. Easy access buttons to disconnect or reconnect to a database. One can even configure the maximum result set size so that the database connection doesn't hang up if the result of a query was too big to process.
What do you dislike about the product?
The community edition does not support certain databases such as Apache Cassandra and MongoDB which is a big bummer when considering DBeaver as a default database management and interaction tool. Toolbar icons are not intuitive of their purpose. For example, the icon to execute the current SQL script/ query is not easy to guess from the toolbar unless you hover on top of it when you see the tooltip. The graphic on the icon is somewhat misleading.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dbeaver is a versatile database manager and querying utility tool that I use for connecting to a database, form queries, run the queries against the database and analyze the result of the query. Dbeaver provides very well defined and standard user interfaces to perform these functions with ease. Dbeaver is also used to query a database connected with and check for queries that are long-running The export option allows us to export the dataset of a query into a file.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
DBeaver is a good tool to get up and running with querying databases. There isn't much learning curve involved for someonce who is completely new to Dbeaver. Checkout if your database is supported in the free distribution of DBeaver.

An excellent (and FREE) database administration application.

  • July 16, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Supports a wide range of databases and connections.
- It is constantly being improved.
- Has syntax highlighting for SQL queries, which helps a lot.
- You can easily run SQL scripts with multiple SQL statements.
- Supports NoSQL databases
- Works on Windows, OSX and Linux.
- It is FREE to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not have anything against it, actually. At least nothing that could prevent me from using it. My experience with the application has been great (at least for what I need to do).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my case, I was using different free tools to be able to connect to different databases types, but since I use DBeaver, I can have all the database types in just one application, which saves a lot of time.

Also, I needed something that could work on Linux, since it is the OS I use, and since DBeaver is multiplatform (since it uses Java), it was a great find.

And the best of all, it is FREE.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should give DBeaver a try. It will not cost you anything and you will not regret it. It is constantly updated, runs fast and it is easy to use. It is free, but has features that you usually find in paid apps.

Best IDE for databases, great NOSQL support

  • July 11, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Has community edition which has alot of features, NOSQL support is great but a while ago was was transformed only to business edition ( but you can search for dbeaver-ee-4.0.5-win32.win32.x86_64 only for windows when NOSQL was still free).
What do you dislike about the product?
Little expensive for Enterprise edition, has issues with driver downloads from Maven some times, you need to google it to fix it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Interact with Oracle databases and Cassandra NOSQL databases

A Great and Powerful Database Client

  • July 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very, very easy to navigate around DB tables, write/save/run queries, export to CSV, and lots of useful features like that.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the query autofill options are not what I would want, which takes me a bit of extra time to enter and run the queries.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's been critical while we set up our new customer database to troubleshoot and just dig through data. There are times when using DBeaver is more useful as a BI tool than Power BI.

DBeaver is a powerful tool for managing large databases

  • May 22, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about DBeaver is that it works with the most used databases that are Oracle, MySQL, SQLite and PostgreSQL. Another feature that I like is that it is possible to directly install DBeaver in Eclipse through a plugin. I also like that it has a really powerful SQL editor and Git integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a database administrator, I do not find any disadvantage in using DBeaver. I think that its free version is of great help to the community, since it has excellent import and export tools, as well as being software available for multiple platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using DBeaver to connect and manage multiple databases simultaneously from our website, so I consider that that is its biggest benefit. Previously, I had to connect separately to the different database managers of our organization's hosting. Also, this software provides an excellent visualization of the relationships between the tables.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
DBeaver is a tool with a free version available to the community. It is compatible with the databases most used by organizations. I recommend it.

Easy to use but low functionality

  • November 07, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use and also easy to set up and install. The tool is self-explanatory and has a very good usability. It's very good for small projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Making multiple connections to different databases is painful and selecting a main database to use can create problems. However what's by far the worst about the tool is that it has no query compiler, meaning that if your query has an error at some point you will have to find it yourself and won't get any hint about where to find it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was handling small projects and small databases with it. Therefore it was really useful and easy to install. I would not suggest using it in a long term.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They should definitely implement a compiler that shows the line of the error in the query.

Great open-source Teradata Client

  • November 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use other Teradata clients. I like the visualizations best. It definitely surpasses other clients. Being able to see how the tables connect in the Irwin diagram is priceless; really helps with development work.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can sometimes be slow; gui layout is not very "Windows" standard; so for Windows users just be prepared to learn non standard layout
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Diving into development work in a Teradata environment that is constantly a moving target.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are needing to attach and do queries against a Teradata environment (probably all others too ... i.e. SQL, etc) I highly recommend DBeaver
