Nice IDE -- Flexible and easy way to write R code

  • October 11, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
* Flexibility of R
* Nice and lightweight IDE
What do you dislike about the product?
* it does not provide simple ways to export outcomes in general (mainly graphics)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I conduct a lot of quantitative research. R and RStudio play essential role on running statistical tests, performing predictive analysis and creating graphics to report my research.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
RStudio is flexible, nice and powerful enough to enable conducting quantitative research. There is a bunch of libraries out there providing features for very different kinds of needs

What do you like best about the product?
The graphics provided by RStudio are optimal for presentations and visualizations of data. There are almost too many options for how to display information.
What do you dislike about the product?
You need to have a pretty good understanding of coding for RStudio to work well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using RStudio for research results and evaluation. It makes great graphics for posters and presentations.

What do you like best about the product?
This program is easy to use if you come from a computer programming background. It is straight forward and the data it gives back is easy to read. There are many forums on the internet that will assist users in learning the code.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning how to use the code aspect of the program can be cumbersome. It takes a lot of practice and repetition. Take time to learn the coding that you need to run your stats. This process often takes longer than running the data as things will not run unless the code is 100% correct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data analysis is often faster and easier for many people to understand after the coding process is learned.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take time to learn the coding that you need to run your stats. This process often takes longer than running the data as things will not run unless the code is 100% correct.

What do you like best about the product?
R is good for statistics and data visualizations
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike R's data structures for munging through the data
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Machine Learning purposes are popular in R, however Python libraries are more extensive

Nice interface of using R with lots of useful functionalities

  • October 10, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It provides a nice way to navigate through one's data as well as one's script. Various ways to package the script and present it together with the graph (using RMardown). Autofill of variable name.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have mostly positive experience with it. If I have to be picky (and this is me being lazy...), when using R on Mac, one can drag a file into the console to get the path to the file. But one cannot do that with RStudio console.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm still in graduate school (Brain and Cognitive Sciences), so I most it use it to analyze behavioral and neural data (mixed-effects models, etc.) or use it to run simulations (MCMC).

Great interface for using R

  • October 10, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature is the fact you can easily see the graphs that you make in RStudio. It saves the trouble of having to open and close multiple tabs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is difficult to figure out the correct size of an image for saving. Larger images cannot be easily visualized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
RStudio allows me to easily visualize the data that I have. It is also a great tool to teach those first starting to use R. For instance, it lets you see the data in a very excel like format.

Versatile program for data analysis and visualization

  • October 09, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
-Versatile
-Extensive library
-Active, friendly userbase
-Good quality figure output
What do you dislike about the product?
-Steep learning curve at first (as I had no previous programming experience)
-Can be hard to pinpoint errors in code from official error statements
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it to analyze the prevelance of fungicide resistance in tomato and potato crops for both local and international growers. The ability to analyze larger data sets was essential.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
-Do a few online, user-friendly tutorials if you are new to coding before getting started (I recommend CodeSchool to start with for a fun twist!)
-Familiarize yourself with common libraries in your field

What do you like best about the product?
I like how everything in the work space is organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really wish there was some color coding available to indicate object, vector, or whatever, like what they have in the SAS programming software. Overall, it was very difficult to learn R programming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is really useful for network analysis as well as a lot of other statistical stuff. My boss needed R programming to help with her microbiome research.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Beware of a steep learning curve.
