The most recognizable CDN
What do you like best about the product?
Akamai has a large network of edge servers (they claim to be within 1 hop of 85% of users), and they do provide very fast load times to end users. They also provide some useful analytics about traffic and site visitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their console isn't very intuitive, and they are a little slow to provision resources behind the scenes - certificates can take days, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a good CDN, they reduce load on our servers and speed up delivery to the end user.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Akamai is a good CDN, but they are not very agile. You definitely have to plan out changes to your properties in advance.
Great CDN with lots of performance improvement tools
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and other tools that Akamai provide, such as Ion and Image Converter. They really leverage the concept of faster content delivery by providing great tools to optimize delivery and performance for end user.
What do you dislike about the product?
Control panel is very ugly and sometimes hard to use. It really needs a better interface and become lightweight,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Caching content to provide a always available static website and usage of Akamai WAF to protect our endpoints.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Akamai has a great support and features. It is easy to configure and provide a lot of features to optimize not only content caching but also end user performance (view Akamai Ion). It is worth the price payed,

What do you like best about the product?
Akamai is our prefered choice for content delivery, we have a number of customer that we have written bespoke software for and every occasion Akamai has provided us with exactly what we want, it is easy to use and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial configuration of Akamai is difficult to understand and the API a bit difficult to configure. We also had initial problems with large images and videos failing to load, which required some additional development work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With writing bespoke software for a number of clients we wanted a solution that gave us all the requirements that could be used for every client requiring a CDN. Akamai provides this and so far it is the only one we use, making our development much easier.

Akamai is a great solution for providing delivery of content to your web applications, it is the product of choice and has fulfilled all our requirements. It makes storing and serving large amount of content much simpler than storing on your own servers

good at configuration on what need to cache and more training material, It has all the configuration history and easily to rollback and re-configuration

Haven't found how much time will take when clear the cache one time

cache all the static file used in program, such as images/css/js/html; It's really fast for the web access performance for a global web site

more configuration and training materials online; The GUI is easy to use;

What do you like best about the product?
Upload the content once and distribution across the network is fast and seamless. Also the CMS dashboard is very helpful and very easy to use even as a beginner into CDN products
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing much really. The only concern at the time was the cost but Akamai CDN was a good service which justifies the cost to management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Content hosting/distribution across the US region. Benefit was enormous since the distribution/availability was robust and seamless.

Very good and robust service and infrastructure. Cost may be a little high but it is well worth it in the long term.
Best Tool to keep your CDN Up and Running
What do you like best about the product?
Provides a great insight on how your data is consumed. Provides your Commerce application a personalized and optimized experience to the customers. They are the best in business with exceptional service. Provides tools that can overcome mobile application performance. And, its quite easy to set it up.
What do you dislike about the product?
They are not cheap; especially if you want to consult with them. And, some of their services require quite a good technical person.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using it on the eCommerce platform which can provide a customizable and optimized experience to customers using both Desktop and mobile platform. It helped us get an insight of the customer base that accesses various categories/pages at different times.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a CDN management tool that has reporting features, Akamai is a great tool. It provides a great set of tools for mobile experience which is where eCommerce is heading to. You will easily claim the fee with a much more stable/optimized application.
Amazing service
What do you like best about the product?
It is one of the easiest content delivery network to use. You just pay for the CDN setup some DNS entries and then you are good to go. I really like the easiness of akamai.
What do you dislike about the product?
I will say it is not for small startup because you can't customize its features and services, you have to choose from the provided service which are not many.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are online music application and after using akamai we saw noticeable boost in loading time of web application.

I would recommend this service to big companies not to startups.

What do you like best about the product?
Very powerful, offers a lot of services. I used it mainly for video livestreaming. I think at the time it was one, if not the only one, offering HLS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the amount of services can be a little overwhelming. It requires a very technical person to setup.

You must research their suite of services to see how to best utilize them given your content infrastructure.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working to provide greater capacity for Black Friday and holiday workload for retail organization. Using Akamai solutions helped us to exceed our revenue targets for holiday and to ensure no downtime for our eCommerce website.

Ensure that you have a strong technical account contact and that you have a strong team. Suggest visiting with Akamai leadership to outline goals/objectives to gain executive support.
Great resource for hosting large Documents and images for web application
What do you like best about the product?
Akamai provides a single location for storing and proving fast easy access for our millions of large documents and images needed for a web application. Having them in a CDN allowed us to almost forget about them and needing to move them to storage and back them up.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had initial problems with users having firewall issues accessing akaimi servers when requesting documents, and took a while for our network team to resolve this.
