Added clarity to a confusing situation
What do you like best about the product?
I love how clean and simple the interface is. Setup is so easy, I got up and running within minutes. Without segment, our CRM platform would have no real idea of the difference between customers and leads. It allowed us to connect our WooCommerce store to our Intercom customer engagement platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
The MTU limit is a bit too low. Also, there's no mid-tier pricing for less than 10,000 MTU, and therefore the first payment package (Team, up to 10K MTU) is a bit too high for my needs. It's the only reason I've not been able to buy it yet. I don't need spaces for 10 people, there's just me, so I feel like I'm being forced to pay $120/m for features and seats I honestly don't need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The MTU limit, too low for the Developer version, and there's no solo package for Segment, as far as I see. Pricing is my biggest, and only issue, with Segment. It locked my workspace because I exceeded the MTU limit more than twice in the last 6 months, but what am I to do? I can't stop users from coming but I've only had 549 users over the last month. I don't see why I need to upgrade to a plan that caters to 10,000 of them. I suppose that's my main difficulty with the product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just prepare yourself for a price. We offer quite unique products so we don't expect millions of users, but we do cross 500 a month occasionally. If you do too, and you need Segment, it's probably going to be a heavy investment. IT starts at $120/m for 10 seats at my time of writing. Additional MTU over 10,000 is going to cost you even more.

Implement once, unlock broad functionality
What do you like best about the product?
Once you have Segment implemented in your codebase, it's extremely easy to add new destinations via their GUI to pass that data to other tools, e.g. Appcues for personalization, Amplitude for analysis, Zapier for automation, or Snowflake for warehousing. Some tools allow you to install via Segment, meaning you don't need to inject any additional JavaScript on your site. Whenever you can get something done without code, it's a product manager superpower.
What do you dislike about the product?
My main complaint seems to be one that Segment is already aware of and working to address. We have the ability to filter based on events, but it sounds like they want to add filters for property at some point as well. That's the beauty of SaaS—the product gets better over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Segment to implement our event tracking, which in turn powers our funnel analysis and our persona definitions, among other things. Segment events help populate our sales pipeline and allow us to track key conversions and cycle times as well.
Full control data
What do you like best about the product?
Its graphical interface is very well optimized.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cache is sometimes too strong and causes conflicts

Control the frequency of use of my app and offer products based on tastes
Segment Events Recommend
What do you like best about the product?
Segment is fast for integration, easy to handle and work with. All events are at one place and you can manage them easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
No dislikes for now, a bit more difficulties while trying to connect with Facebook App Events.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage all site standard and custom events via Segment. It's a core tool for our business and help us build and grow massive performance structures trough different marketing channels.
Best analytics aggregator out there
What do you like best about the product?
iOS integration is super easy and it has so many downstream integrations. I particularly like Segment + Apptimize integration for our A/B experiments. Any new events we send to Segment just magically end up on our Apptimize goals which is super handy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Couple of things missing that require us to still have other SDK's / Analytics platforms in place. For example Facebook SDK's `FBSDKAppEvents.activateApp()` and exit links for Adobe Analytics
We've also had at least 2 experiences with our segment service being down for a period of time. They handled it well tho when we spoke to them on the phone. They explained what went wrong, how they are mitigating it from happening again and they were able to replay the missing events for us.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding user behaviour so we can understand if the changes we are making result in more or less user engagement
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Better app performance than Tealium
Very convenient data bridge between app and 3rd analytical tools
What do you like best about the product?
1. Easy to see the raw data from the debugger
2. Easy to disable events from sending to integrations
3. Love the concept of the Personas

What do you dislike about the product?
1. Don't have integration with some popular tools like Pendo, AppsFlyer
2. Don't provide a way to bulk disabled events for one integration
3. For some analytical tools, still required mini SDK, it's against the concept of Segment, such as integrating with Firebase tool

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We usually used several analytical tools to take advantage of their cool features, but it requires to integrate their SDK and this takes much dev effort and make our app size big. With Segment, we only need to integrate one SDK to use most of the analytical tools with easy setup.
It would be great if we can control the raw data by ourselves, we can do further analytics.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using several analytical tools in one app, Segment can make it easy!
Easily integrate all analytics with one platform
What do you like best about the product?
The core value of Segment is the ability to write one integration and have it pipe to any analytics tool you want to use now, and easily sub in and remove new tools in the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not responsible for looking at the costs but I have heard that it is very expensive once you hit scale.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using segment to send analytics events to legacy data warehouses as well as a new data warehouse and some data viz tools. Having one integration reduces engineering resources needed to hook up all integrations for every new feature, and only worry about sending events to Segment, everything else will flow where it needs to after that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate if Segment is only needed for providing a level of abstraction over multiple analytics tools, if it is there may be less expensive ways of achieving the same outcome. Their advanced functionality (SQL based personas) are uniquely valuable though.
Great when tracking non-anonymous activity
What do you like best about the product?
Segment is great to have a standard API to have the dev team build tracking against. It handles it all for you. It also support server-side tracking instead of loading a dozen SDKs client side! It also has (almost) seamless integration with all kinds of downstream destinations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Segment's cloud mode means it uses API calls to send data to your destinations (like salesforce), so be careful with your API limits! There is (currently) no way to transform incoming data before sending it out to destinations (aka send "leadSource" to Marketo but "LeadSource" to salesforce).
The one issue is with the pricing model based on monthly tracked users which includes anonymous visitors. If you have a website where a large portion of the traffic is anonymous, using Segment here becomes prohibitively expensive and while its features for anonymous traffic are great (ad platform integration, single sdk, combining anonymous and known user data) it is hard to justify the significant extra cost.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
de-coupling dev implementation from data ETL processes, managing data flows. Data-warehouse implementation, data governance
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Billing is based on tracked users, even anonymous ones, so it is a lot more costly to use it for sites/apps with a large portion of anonymous users since that will inflate your costs. Our usecase is mainly handling logged-in user activity so we derive a lot of use from it.
Segment is good
What do you like best about the product?
It's really good for tracking user attributes
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't have enough flexibility for syncing to data warehouse
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking user lifecycle
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great!
One solution for multiple analytic data solution
What do you like best about the product?
Segment's community, which is very strong and Idea behind the reduce development cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
Super properties are not stable, unable to synch all required super properties in newrelic insights
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have solved multiple analytic data integration after using this. Without any issue we are getting data in insight and ga using this.
