Data instrumentation doesn'thave to be complex.
What do you like best about the product?
- Segment is easy to use, saves many engineering hours with their native integrations,
- Easily data distribution to many supported destinations and data warehouses.
- Has an incredible account management, customer success and support teams.

What do you dislike about the product?
- Not that dislike but something for consideration, the development/test/production environments are merged into one workspace, this is complex as sources are not as clean as these could be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Product Data collection and instrumentation.
- Product Data categorization, standardization and distribution.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is always important to consider the roadmap, where the company is going and investing. For us Segment has been a great partner and we have been able to support each other as we scale our programs.

Tools that help little teams do big things
What do you like best about the product?
The entire on-boarding process was amazing, extremely helpful, and got us rolling in much less time than I'd had imagined. Additionally, the ease-of-use of the platform overall has been incredible, allowing one person to implement the entire event-ingestion portion of our platform single-handedly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to report here. All of the problems I encountered were on our end, and Segment was always happy to help where they could to handle them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rapid implementation of event ingestion across multiple clients to multiple sources with ease I have not felt from any other platform I've worked with. This has made collecting new events unbelievably simple, and sending data to new locations something that can be done in minutes, instead of days.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a simple solution that plugs in with minimal efforts, is simple to administrate from there, and hyper-flexible, I cannot think of another product that delivers nearly as well as Segment.
Great for multiproduct companies
What do you like best about the product?
Not being a developer, its amazing to have the ability to quick set up new destinations and filters as you deply new business solutions on "the front". We track a ton of product data on it and send to our CRM's and product analytics tools to use their logic and since we are expanding our portfolio, Segment makes it easy to reduce friction on getting usage and health metrics/reports out of those tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe we could have a more easy and accessible. It can be very expensive specially if you use for freemium products with long sales cycles. Also, at least on our plan, the support is very inexpressive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centering all product events in one place, making CRM data up-to-date and in real time, using to create health and opportunities alerts on the CRM (based on product usage).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Segment does not have a pretty good support or documentation that is very comprehensive so if you do not have ANY developer on your team it might be hard at the start. But after a few months the system is pretty easy to use and straightforward on its features.

The ability to connect all the platforms that we use to sync the masterdata across platforms./

It is really hard to figure out and i worked on implementing it with their team to understand it.

1. Not able to filter events before sync with team plan.
2. There is no open source start kit to display the tracking data using the segment data model for data presentation, and need to use commercial platform.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Great way to structure data collection and send to other tools
What do you like best about the product?
The combination of a great way to gather data on users and their actions, with the massive list of other tools it integrates with. It allows us to simply and quickly try out different tools, as the time to set them up is so low, as they can get all the data from Segment. This also allows us to be more flexible in changing the set of tools we use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like many SaaS tools, the pricing goes up real fast for all features, even for a small startup, and so we have had to rely on other tools for things that we could have used Segment for had the price for the full functionality been more reasonable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1) Allowed us to develop a consistent method to get data on users from their first web site visit to deeper interaction in our app.
2) Enabled us to reuse this method across many different tools, and thus reduced the switching cost between such tools.

I love the way in which Segment integrate all our data in a single source of truth

Sometimes is pretty difficult to show data to our managing directors, should be pretty good if you have some reports based on personas or connections

All my customer data and analytics is now solved with segment
Easy to Deploy and Powerful
What do you like best about the product?
Automatic assignment of anonymousId and the association of that Id with a user Id after an identify call. Rich set of possible sources and destinations.
What do you dislike about the product?
UI can sometimes be slightly non-intuitive and difficult to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collecting data for experimentation. Have realized improved targeting through Persona traits.

I've had a so-so experience with customer support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Inorder to capture all info, we put in proxy servers. Support on how-to hasn't been great - we've bene working with support on over 2 weeks now with no more information than when we had first started.
