Allows you to track all the events on your WEBSITE with a centralized solution
What do you like best about the product?
With Segment you are able to track all the events happening on your website, with a single integration, you can track from audience metrics to performance metrics or even events happening in the video player.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with other tracking solutions is far from being ideal. One of the great advantages of Segment would be to track everything with a single integration and send the information to the rest of the monitoring/tracking systems but unfortunately, most of the cases data is not accurate or consistent, so integration of other third parties are requested.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Audience Tracking, User behavior tracking, Video Player events tracking. Tried also some integrations with Youbora and Google Analytics but so far we haven't been able to completely remove integration with this other third party as we are not getting all the data with only Segment integration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good if you look for an event tracking tool, not so helpful if you want to use a single integration to send the data to other monitoring/tracking tools it might be the case that data is not 100% consistent. I recommend to investigate if integrations with your other third parties are already working.

Since it has flexibility, you will need to use it to familiarize yourself with the platform

What do you like best about the product?
The tracking script is excellent and a massive improvement on trying to use google analytics.
It doesn't have a big impact on load speed either, which is useful.
You can send data to multiple destinations, which is nice.
The audience remarketing lists can be useful, although I have found better ways of integrating existing audiences with google advertising. The javascript tag is really good.

You have to pay through the roof to see the value of the software
I almost prefer just using google tag manage.r
The cost for monthly user pricing is insane.
All of their 'AI' stuff is a bit markety to marketers.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking user interactions in the app is probably the best thing you can do with Segment.
our app has a lot of in-app purchases, so at every purchase location we can use a descriptive marker to create an event and send it to segment, and then use that data in intercom and other apps for very granular marketing.
Our app is written in Vue, so the analytics.js javascript library and the simple analytics.track work very well to create descriptive events.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be prepared to pull out the credit card and commit long term. Don't be afraid to negotiate. They sometimes offer you good deals, but you've really got to work for it. They won't just throw you a good deal. Keep in mind that Google Tag Manager is free.

The UX interface is very friendly. Segment is easy to customize depending on your business requirements, and it has a lot of integrations.

There is nothing I could think of right now.

Collection of the data is really easy to do with Segment.
Even with just two Destinations, Segment is valuable

Simplicity of aggregating event data from our Frontend app as well as backend. Also, that you have a genuine Free tier for startups starting out.

Nothing comes to mind actually; the core reason we use it it is performing well on.

First and foremost, aggregating our data from multiple sources of our app to be able to see single conversion funnels on Mixpanel

Segment is not just valuable for aggregating the data of multiple third party platforms, but even internally for synthesizing your own data. It can be your core foundation for synthesizing your Frontend and backend events.

I have solved many issues within 10 minutes using segment

It is very simple and useful to use. I recommend to other start using segment from today it fixes a lot of manual issues and gives a professional experience. I was using GTM for a while, even though it is easy to use but I don't reach by requirement and will confuse a lot of times. However, I have found a segment fortunately and it has a lot of features like we can connect the source and destiantion. The overview is very simple and clear to understand the connections between source and the destination which saves me a lot of time from other tools. So, I decided to use the segment because of its simplicity and ease to use. Additionally, we have a lot of categories under the catalog which helps everyone to connect for their preferred source. You can add new users from your organization and give limited access to review or change anything but not publish anything without your knowledge. This helps every organization to keep their clients Dashboard only to review and not to publish and avoid publishing mistakes from other users.
The special functionlity on segment is you can watch if there are any errors or issues in the integrations using health tab. This is really helpful for everyone these days as most of us using at least one integrations.

Amazing CDP product to help understand customers
What do you like best about the product?
The integrations with various data sources and destinations are easy to set up and are very reliable. The performance of the tool is also very good in terms of speed. In addition, the debugger is quite nice in allowing us to view real -time data for triage and spot checking.
What do you dislike about the product?
We did have an issue in late 2020 or early 2021 where some of the data failed to load to our destination causing some of our critical business decisions to be delayed, however the situation was rectified very quickly and the support team was responsive and understanding.

Segment enables us to understand our interaction with people on our website quickly and thoroughly.
