What do you like best about the product?
I like how quickly it can be configured and how you can integrate with systems like Salesforce and Snowflake and many more systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
The logging mechanism of segment is not ideal. If something fails, it is hard to debug as it doesnt store all logs.

Commecting with our customers real time from our website to our Salesforce instance.

Easy Aggregator of analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
What I do like the best about Segment is how easy it's to integrate multiple analytics sources with multiple outputs/apps/websites.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike the most about segment is first of all the price, secondly their Mobile SDKs lacks of integrations and are not really stable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We implemented Segment for aggregating multiple analytics tool like mixpanel and google analytics, plus multiple outputs like mobile apps and websites.
Segment allows us to easily manage where our data goes.
What do you like best about the product?
Segment allows to see all our connections sources and its respective destinations. It has a wide array of integrations that are incredibly easy to set up with a few steps. It also allows us to see exactly when a particular attribute or event last occurred. The team at Segment is also very friendly and helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Personas feature is on another paid tier and does not allow for a free trial. It is also very expensive compared to industry standards. For companies with a huge amount of users, the payment structure could be better aligned to allow for testing or incremental use or have a pricing scheme based on the use of its features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Segment connections feature allows us to skip the integration process with many of our customer support platforms and easily send user activity in real time. One use case is it allows us to instantly send tailored email campaigns to our users based on their current activity.

Client side integrations lack some features compared with cloud integrations

Unification of tagging plans through a single point for tracking information
Debugging is fun with segment
What do you like best about the product?
You're able to walk through the debugger in real time to see segment events coming in. There are basic filters such as track, identify, group that you can search for. I think it is neat that Segment acts as a one-stop service. It receives events from multiple sources and also outputs events to many different destinations.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would appreciate it if there were more advanced filtering than just searching for strings. Also, sometimes, my server would send events to segment would sometimes I don't see them in the debugger if there were a large number of events bombarding segment. Finally, sometimes you don't see old events in segment. It is unclear what the lookback window is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are tracking users who use our website. We have placed segment events in both our front end to ascertain certain metrics such as free to paid conversion rate and determine whether experimental features we roll out in our websites should be temporary or permanent features.
Definitely a go-to tool for CDP
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that you can connect data sources & destinations in less than a minute is just plain crazy.
What do you dislike about the product?
In terms of corporating data quality segment should provide better software then just rule sets & post-functions.

We didn't want to send data to 10 different places while doing the integrations and we wanted to run the events by segment
Great tool for event implementation
What do you like best about the product?
Debugger for verifying events.
Able to see the schema for complete events implemented.

What do you dislike about the product?
Mostly everything is there. There should be some custom dashboard which we can make according to our requirements. Any mechanism to share failed events reports on email would be very helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly everything around events implementation is sorted with the segment. Previously debugging of events was quite challenging but after segment any team member can test these events.
Segment integration helps us keep data up-to-date when being passed through our CRM and DWH

There are a lot of integrations available with Segment which makes onboarding new softwares easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
I work w/Segment peripherally so there's not much negative that I've seen. I'm sure the data folks may have a different opinion during setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently trying to connect our B2B lists with Braze and ensure Segment is passing data back and forth accurately.
Good CDP tool for companies
What do you like best about the product?
Helps companies with complex set-ups to connect to different tools. In one single integration can manage many products (apps, webapps, scripts) with different tools (crm, tracking, cloud).
What do you dislike about the product?
It's an expensive tool and over costs are pretty high. If you go above the MTUs allocated for the month, you can end up paying the same as the contract only in penalites.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have different products and apps depending on the country. The Tech Team cannot manage to make individual integration with marketing tools such as Braze, Appsflyer, Google Analytics, so we use Segment to integrate and control everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Customer Support can take some time to respond. If you don't have a technical background, it might be difficult to go through the tool and get something out of it. Needs training.
