Would certainly recommend Segment
What do you like best about the product?
As a developer, I use the debugger the most. When I am implementing new events I can add them to the code on my local machine and see them come straight through into Segment while I am testing. I have confidence that this data is reliable once pushed to production.
Their customer service was fantastic, they proactively offered me a customer success implementation call to do a health check on our implementation. This was followed by a more technical call with Segment to run over one more complicated issue, which we worked together to resolve. Their team were knowledgable, flexible and easy to work with.

What do you dislike about the product?
It is not so much a dislike and I would suppose that this issue is really out of the hands of Segment, but we had a little issue with the Google Analytics 4 destination not being fully functional for our implementation with server side events. Like I say, this was a limitation to GA4 being in beta, but the Segment GA4 server side destination isn't so I was expecting full functionality there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We now have a single source for all events coming through from our website. We have managed to shift our teams mentality from "everything is in Google Tag Manager" to understanding that Segment is the single source of truth for all events. With Segment, adding new destinations is easier than before, especially with the easy to use debugger.

A reliable customer data platform that helped us scale
What do you like best about the product?
Using Segment through the years saved us the time required to connect and sync data between different tools. Easiness of use, perfect documentation and the ability to debug events in Segment makes it a perfect tool for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the fact that, from our point of view, there are several tools that we still can't automatically connect to Segment like Recurly, or Chartmogul for instance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Segment to send product data to different business tools our company uses on a daily basis. Segment is especially helpful, as it automatically 'translates' data we send, so that there are no errors when data is delivered to a particular destination.
Excellent, easy to use CDP platform with a lots of useful features
What do you like best about the product?
I like the easy-to-use UI that Segment has. Another thing is the personas feature, easily merging anonymous with known user data without any interaction with the user.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the debugger feature in the sources which is showing only the latest events, so if you are searching for a past event it's difficult to find it there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a unified customer view is the most valuable thing for using Segment. We are targeting people based on the Segment data and it has been really productive.
User tracking platform with many integrations
What do you like best about the product?
Segment is easy to use and integrate with your applications and third-party software. I mostly like the number of integrations it provides, it's special features like Personas which make it easy to work with user data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mostly steep learning curve when it comes to working with Segment for the first time. There are also missing data warehousing source and destination connections, mostly relational databases. For example, on-premise SQL Server (Azure SQL is present). From classic relational databases, only PostgreSQL connection is present.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Tracking user actions in a mobile app
- Using personas to track user information from a Data Warehouse and act upon it
- Integrate with Customer.io for engaging with users

Segment is a super helpful customer data platform
What do you like best about the product?
It helps us to streamline the event tracking process (via connections) and manage user segments (audiences) from a central place. Thus, it enables us to create a single source of truth for our customer data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The connections have predefined limits. Within those limits, you can do a lot of things. However, sometimes it might be helpful to adjust some behavior via the UI in order to make things more useful for company-specific use cases. One example would be the user id that is used to connect to external tools. Most of the time this is fixed. It would be nice to adjust that.
Another thing is, that Segment Personas is only available in the business plan. It would be super helpful to have this available in the team plan as well.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Streamlined even tracking process. Everything is piped through Segment -> we have a single event tracking library we need to use
- A single view of the customer that can be defined within Segment personas that can be synced to other downstream destinations. This gives us a common understanding and definition of user segments throughout the company.

Best CDP in the business
What do you like best about the product?
Easy installation, wide integrations coverage, very developer friendly, excellent support, consistent new technology delivered, single platform for your event stream data
What do you dislike about the product?
The personas feature is limited because of how many custom traits you can add... also it's too bad they don't give you multi-touch attribution out of the box and sync it to your CRM for you
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving having a single way of defining events and making all the data flow properly for our key growth toolsets. We have saved 100s of engineering hours and were able to have a sophisticated martech stack quickly.
A beautiful tool for making sense of your data and getting more out of it
What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to collect data from multiple sources and sending it to the rest of my tools automatically with little to no configuration. No need to worry about how to shape your data to make it work for every tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found anything missing yet, but I've only scratched the surface. I'm currently leveraging page and identify events only.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm getting more out of my website visitor data by enriching it with Clearbit and sending richer profiles over to my CRM (HubSpot) and my web analytics tool (Google Analytics).
our company would be somewhere else without segment
What do you like best about the product?
very easy to setup and track all kind of events, great documentation, and finally all data in one source
What do you dislike about the product?
yes! sometimes the documentation is onconsistent: eg about the naming convention for events
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
beinging fragmented data from all kind of different sources (website, platform, etc.) into one dwh
easy to use, great for frictionless marketing
What do you like best about the product?
real data stream, event tester, easy configuration of new sources and destinations
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of PII coming in, it would be more helpful to understand why events fail or have issues. I noticed recently that we had 20k events fail last month in my monthly summary. It would have been great to get some automated messages there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
start up mode = moving fast, all the time. Segment is easy to configure and let's us do all of our marketing analytics.
The Nexus of Our Analytics Events
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part of Segment is all of the partner integrations. It makes it fun to use and integrate with new systems.
Also
- Analytics Schema Unification
- Debugging tools
- Event filters
- protocol violation views.
Big high five to your product team. You guys are creating the right paradigms.

What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Segment had a Unity SDK! Don't you want more game dev clients?!
I also with the protocols were a little more friendly to navigate at a high level. It's be nice for new analysts to see it all at once and get a sense of an app's analytics - but there's a lot of clicking involved currently.
I wish push notification integrations were a little more evolved/cleaner.
More user deletion / CCPA / GDPR options would be helpful too.

First and foremost - Schema fragmentation!
Eliminating excessing site tags across applications - this is awesome.
