Powerful tool, with a tricky implementation
What do you like best about the product?
Segment allows us to define events and properties one time for use across multiple platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Segment has been difficult to implement perfectly vs. our database data - where there are different entry points.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows us to easily power our marketing tools and enables our marketers to spin up new channels without the help of developer resources.

Very sorted and saves a lot of bandwidth and resources
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of implementation of events. Plug and play any new destination. Protocols helps us keep a close tap on the efficient implementation of the events even when there is no QA.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing is slighltly on the upper side, especially post the acquisition. If this can be worked upon then rest everything is very good. Very reliable service from them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unified analytics for my platform. Help create a data lake for my events (in addition to sending them to other destinations). Help maintain an events library.
The go to for instrumentation/tracking
What do you like best about the product?
Great compatibility across different sources and targets for piping data between different parts of the data pipeline. Perfect for instrumentation of tracking events.
What do you dislike about the product?
Settings can sometimes be a bit difficult to interpret without consulting help articles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Segment helps us pipe data around between ios/web/android to different data sources like Redshift/Amplitude/etc.
Intuitive UI
What do you like best about the product?
I am not an engineer nor a data science geek, but I have found Segment pretty intuitive. Also, accurate. The learning curve for a newbie was about 5 minutes and then I felt unleashed to figure out many other features.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's yet another system to have to log into. But it's been a dependable backup with other software that is not functioning quite right. I keep it bookmarked at the top of my screen, and when I log in, I feel like anything is possible. But I have to log in, that's all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I constantly need to check instrumentation to be able to look at customer behavior analytics. It's essential to find points of friction in actual customer behavior (it's part of my job in content design - to see where users are getting stuck).
Very powerful tool to bring CRM to the next level
What do you like best about the product?
The real time data and computing capabilities
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of ability to use Segment to send messages directly through CRM platform
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Real time data
Best Website Event Analysing tool
What do you like best about the product?
The segment is easily the best application available in the marketplace right now to analyse the website data. The easy-to-use UI is super helpful in connecting all our tracking applications to the website.
What do you dislike about the product?
The segment is a bit expensive compared to its competitors. It is hard for a small startup to allocate that much money for data analytic tools while Google Analytics and MS Clarity do it for free.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Segment to track all the events on our website from User signup until the time they log out of the panel. It helps us to understand user behaviour in a meaningful way and the experience more smooth for them.
Segment data is invaluable to us
What do you like best about the product?
Honestly, I don't have to think about Segment much beyond the initial instrumentation in our product. It's integration into rich UX experiences like Amplitude and Looker make it a great tool to work with.
What do you dislike about the product?
The handoff to Amplitude can be a bit wonky at times. Filtering out, or filtering in new events can take a long time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Without Segment, we'd have to instrument multiple tools in our product. With it's rich integrations, we're able to instrument once, and deliver data where we need it most.
The tracking foundation for any SaaS
What do you like best about the product?
Segment is an infrastructure, a tracking framework and a data hub all at once. It has been the cornerstone of our product data and operational data operations since the very beginning.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even though it provides much control, it still requires strong ownership to keep it clean. Having someone in charge is also essential to control the privacy stakes and the pricing (which can get very expensive).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves tracking management and makes dev work much easier when you have multiple tools to send data to. In essence, it makes everyone much more productive, tech and marketers alike.
great tool could use some updates
What do you like best about the product?
Segment powers our whole analytics platform. Its great for integrations with braze, amplitude, and redshift
What do you dislike about the product?
the UI is pretty bad. Segment does not make it easy to navigate from protocols to connections. Their web experience is pretty bad too as I'm unable to have multiple screens open when trying to compare tracking plans or destinations.
The most frustrating part is getting access to an export of my connections. Segment doesn't allow you to do this and their only response is using postman to send a get request but this doens't allow you to get an export of all your destinations.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Segment solves the problem of understanding what actions users are performing on your help. It solves many problems around this as it helps drive communications and analytics in downstream tools
Had to switch to Rudderstack. Unsure if Segment was the issue.
What do you like best about the product?
My favourite feature is the live debugger. I like how Segment can control what to send. One of the best things would have to be the ease of use. One of the best CDPs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing. There are many other CDPs which provide better or more competitive pricing. The pricing should be lenient like Rudderstack and price more on destinations instead of MTUs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowed me to capture all sorts of customer behaviour from my website. I used it in conjunction with Amplitude. It was very useful until I found out I'm getting incorrect events post which I had to switch our CDP. I am unsure if the issue was with Segment or Amplitude.
