Sumo Logic Review
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and navigate. Great parsing tools. Aesthetically please UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times it can take a long time to run reports. Limited data visualizations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most of the time I am able to run reports on logs very quickly in real-time.
Easy log aggregation and dashboarding
What do you like best about the product?
SumoLogic makes setting up log aggregation easy and quick, with plenty of integration points and configurable agents. Reviewing logs from disparate and distributed systems using their query language is relatively simple, but can get complex fast. In a world of micro-services it is critical to be able to query logs from all running apps and their dependencies in order to monitor system health and debug issues. Whether it is through rSyslog or installed agents Sumo makes collecting logs from many systems a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
The alerting management is not what I would expect from an enterprise product. We have many people logging in and creating alerts, and the only way to centralize them so they are manageable is to put them all on shared accounts. If they are created using individual accounts then they have to be migrated after a person leaves, which seems unnecessary. It is a blemish on an otherwise polished product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Holistic application awareness across the entire stack. Sumo has made it extremely easy to get logs from application, virtual hosts, databases, message systems and other critical infrastructure. It allows us to see correlating events and quickly deep dive during or after incidents.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a quick jump-start into logging, Sumo makes it very simple.
When it comes to Sumo, the 80/20 rule applies
What do you like best about the product?
Sumo Logic is an IAAS search service - that's it's best feature. Anyone who has had to administrate an on-premise log analytics platform knows what a god send having a hosted solution is.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Sumo Logic query language is sometimes difficult to use when trying to do more sophisticated searches. Multi-tenancy may lead to long search times when many other customers are using the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized log analytics. Allows focusing engineering efforts on business differentiators rather than "utility" services like log analytics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do analyze your search requirements. Sumo Logic handles most of the search analytics tasks for 80% of people. However, you need to enumerate your requirements to make sure you're not in the 20% of people. In that case, you'll probably need to go with the other "S" company.
Great product for tracking user interactions and errors.
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to segment data and get very specific in our searches.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the search logic is not very straight-forward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Help us track user data and find errors quicker when they pop up.
Sumo Logic Makes Work A Breeze
What do you like best about the product?
Sumo is incredibly fast and responsive to even the biggest of search parameters. I'm typically multi-tasking and it keeps up with every request I send its way.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to have more control over the pre-chosen time spans. Adding a custom time frame would make my work flow even smoother.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sumo allows me to support our customers by quickly diagnosing problems in API calls. It also helps see where our technology is consistently failing, which will lead to more focused changes and a better product.
