Great for logging, but sometimes difficult to integrate with other data sources
What do you like best about the product?
Sumologic is able to collect all of our system level process data. This makes it easy for software teams to analyze datasets.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have difficulty getting Sumologic data to "play nicely" with other data sources. For example, forwarding is difficult with hosted collectors - which we haven't been able to find a good solution for besides ETL through the API.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Sumologic to analyze system level logs and understand how our software services are performing in real time.
Ease with logs using SUMOLOGIC
What do you like best about the product?
The structured & easy to read format of logs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The query to filter logs, is bit difficult to learn at first instance
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for log analysis. Since the logs are in structured format and easy to read, it has helped us to quickly locate the logs and solve the issue, which in turn has improved our SLA and error solving capabilities.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommended as it provides ease of use. Saves time while going through logs and is more structured.
Newbie to log parsing, finding SumoLogic very intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to perform groupby functions and parse logs into actionable information has been great. My regex and SQL experience feels relevant despite not being familiar with server logs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish scheduling alerts and integrations wasn't buried behind so many menus... :(
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Checking day over day file transmission from data providers, catching SFTP sessions that have been left open by accident, etc.
Great UI and API access
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to learn logging and syntax. Able to gather very important systems info
What do you dislike about the product?
Cannot make more complex charts/graphs in the UI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Operations Analytics. We have been able to diagnose issues in our tech and third party vendors in an almost real-time environment .
Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to start by typing what you want to search.
What do you dislike about the product?
Prompt for different categories are not very intuitive. Menu structure is sort of odd.

Incredible product - reliable, powerful, and great UX
What do you like best about the product?
Sumo is incredibly dependable. As someone who has helped maintain our own ES cluster in the past and use kibana in place of sumo logic, it was always a pain trying to keep things up and running, and ensuring no one was going to run queries that would bring the ES cluster to its knees at times. Sumo is incredibly dependable and reliable, even with very large sets of data and very expensive and large queries. The different visualizations it gives out of the box give us the insight we need for so many things.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sharing queries and learning the query syntax can be a bit of a learning curve. I wish sharing were a better UX, although once you figure out how to do it it works fine. The query syntax for any service like sumo (ES, etc.) has always been difficult so I don't think it's any worse than others, just challenging at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We pipe all log data from all of our different services into sumo to allow us to get insight into how our system is running, troubleshoot issues, and even run customer research to understand how users are interacting with our application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Having a managed service for this allows you to focus on your business and its problems.
Powerful yet simple tool
What do you like best about the product?
The various ways to aggregate data. Scheduled searches keep us on top of issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need non-personal folders for more logical sharing. It's a pain to have to remember which human created a search or dashboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Real time tracking. We have been able to stay on top of issues.
