A good SVN tool but not too easy to make complicated things

  • January 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's integrated with Explorer, so doing simple things is a good tool. But it doesn't give an overview how my repository is
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to see how branches are and what's happen on repositories
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was simple to use Git on Basic functions as commit Pull and Push. But, it's challenging to use to follow team commits
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Is good o use alone when you don't need to make many merges

Best tool to work with code repository

  • December 30, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tortoise SVN is best among different tools available. We can diff between local and remote files, we can create patch files and color coded folder indication for different file types.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since I'm using it, I've not seen any major dislike. The only thing which is missing in Tortoise SVN, we can not manage logged in user details and see who is logged in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working with code on repository, regular commits and pull from the repository. I use it with assembla, to maintain versioning of code and bug fixing. Creating patch file for existing code.

Straightforward, easy to use and very effective version control tool

  • December 28, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Free to use, excellent documentation, open source. It is easy to see the status of files directly in windows explorer relative to their stauts in the repository. A massive community of software users makes it easy to find solutions to any questions that one may have. SVN diff is a very powerful tool that helps analyse the differences in different versions of a specific file.
What do you dislike about the product?
Preferrable to use the original theme and not the dark theme, using the dark theme led to crashes at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keep track of changes to all software development project files and folders. Baseline, tag and branch software methodically.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easier to checkin, checkout, merge, branch, commit, lock, compare files and folders relative to github or git or bitbucket.

Best for version controlling for any project and maintaining commits in repositories

  • November 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing I liked about TortoiseSVN is the folder Icons used which makes it easy to understand the changes made, and these are customizable icons. Easy code checkouts only by providing the repository URL. There is also an option to create a patch file for the file we are working.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no specific setting where we can see the credentials of the logged-in account, which makes it challenging to understand the logged-in account, some more scope of improvements in UI for better usability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used TortoiseSVN for the version controlling with the Assembla repository account where my project is uploaded. Regular commits to enhance the functionality of the project and fulfill the client's requirements.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it, easy to use and has good features.

What do you like best about the product?
TortoiseSVN is more easily to use than GIT, minus complicate
I like the difference view, and the revert functionality before Comit
What do you dislike about the product?
Revert functionality after Commit, revert all functionality committed after the functionality we need to revert
Must to revert only the functionality we select
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not big experience

Great Code management solution

  • July 13, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
SVN is a great tool for maintenance and management of code at the central repository wherein developers can merge the changes easily and the admin can generate builds for testing and release purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
We don't have a stash option to get the stash code to a local repo as we do in Git.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used SVN to maintain the code of our projects all in one place and also giving access to developers or other teammates is an easy process wherein we can give relevant access rights to the relevant persons.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is great tool for managing all your source code at one place

SVN promotes extremely simplified versioning.
Documents deployment.
Enough Help available on the internet.

Multiple directory options available.
What do you dislike about the product?
These are the few features I dislike:
Average conflict resolution.

You can add Check-in and Check-out requests.
We should consider adding an Email intimation facility.
You can also use unlinked project IDs.
This feature makes it less track-worthy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We faced the problem of version control. SVN seamlessly solved this issue.
SVN promotes collaborative ways of documentation review.
SVN also allows great methods of documentation management.
Single sourcing to multiple platforms.
