It's fast, and has a lot of power and flexibility.

The configuration language is bespoke and has a relatively high learning curve.
Currently no good options if you need FIPS compatible TLS at scale with good performance on an LTS release (although that isn't entirely haproxy's fault).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Load balancing, routing to the correct service (currently with hub and spoke model), for redirecting and rewriting requests before directing yo backend services, for ensuring security related headers are added to all responses, also used in some cases to protect sensitive endpoints.

What do you like best about the product?
That it supports advanced load balancing algorithms, SSL termination, rate limiting, DDoS mitigation, and traffic routing based on various conditions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up and managing SSL certificates manually can be cumbersome compared to automated solutions like Let’s Encrypt integrations in other tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps solve mostly microservice and api gateway routing allowing dynamic traffic management and service discovery integration.

I was convinced HAproxy is better than F5

No group management yet with Active Directory but I hear it’s in the pipeline

Been using it for load balancing. integrated HAProxy with NGINX to build a robust, scalable, and highly available traffic management solution. HAProxy handled load balancing and health checks at the edge

HAProxy config lacks dynamic reloading, requiring full restarts which is a bit painful sometimes

The multiple levels of control. Due to the lightweight nature the performance and reliability is great. It was used on a project in past time but also in some of my private pocs to showcase functionality.

Could be a steeper learning curve and can cause problems if configs not fully setup.especially for simpler setups.
