fast and flexible
What do you like best about the product?
It's fast, and has a lot of power and flexibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
The configuration language is bespoke and has a relatively high learning curve.
Currently no good options if you need FIPS compatible TLS at scale with good performance on an LTS release (although that isn't entirely haproxy's fault).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Load balancing, routing to the correct service (currently with hub and spoke model), for redirecting and rewriting requests before directing yo backend services, for ensuring security related headers are added to all responses, also used in some cases to protect sensitive endpoints.

Great piece of software , works great out of the box
What do you like best about the product?
We've been using HAProxy extensively in both our production and staging environments, and it continues to exceed expectations as a high-performance, open-source load balancer and reverse proxy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some nice feature are still behind paywall

With minimal resource , can double up the throughput.

What do you like best about the product?
The support provided has been excellent, and the platform is highly flexible, making it suitable for a variety of applications. The team went above and beyond to help troubleshoot 502 errors during our migration from F5, thoroughly analyzing various aspects of the problem. They also developed effective workarounds to minimize the business impact and alleviate the issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not having plug and play UI for configuring the load balancer options and attributes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
After migrating from F5 to HAProxy, we noticed significant cost savings and found the platform to be highly adaptable for different teams. The configuration is straightforward and easy to understand, which made the transition smoother. Setting up load balancer VIPs and updating configurations has been simple, especially when introducing new functionalities to our applications. Additionally, the responsive support team at HAProxy has helped us maintain momentum, quickly assisting us whenever we encounter obstacles.

License support cost, internal managed service labor cost dedicated for F5 device maintenance

What do you like best about the product?
Coming from another competitor with closed source hardware products, the flexibility and value of HAProxy is unmatched in any other product we've tried. It's not just a load balancer, we keep finding new users for it every day.

Initial configuration can be intimidating, and the flexibility of the feature set can make it difficult to determine the best way to accomplish a given task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
HAProxy replaces a proprietary and costly hardware load balancing solution, in addition to providing advanced WAF and anti DDoS features. This helps us stay online and load faster.

It easy to implement, rock-solid, and can handle just about anything you throw at it.

Configuration is difficult for first timers but there are tons of resources to help.

Haproxy is a perfect solutions that to use Openshift and k8s environment. And it is so reliable for traffic.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is so complex synthax in configuration file. It may easier.

Our cluster taken traffic from end users. This product is getting easier to traffic.

Complex syntax, hard to read configuration files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In our kubernetes environments, Elasticity of HAproxy was very important. We can deploy and manage our own load balancers to inside of the clusters and outside of the clusters as bastion node to both control cluster and manage it

The accommodation of services and configuration is very intuitive and offers a series of benefits without the need for other adjacent tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
The less good parts are quite few, but the possibility of a file structure like json yaml would help with their integration into other systems.
