Great for reducing tax issues and headaches
What do you like best about the product?
They have worked with our company to come up with solutions that work for our specific tax needs. I like the customization of tax rules and applications that can help me achieve my specific goals/needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting the needed customizations can be tedious and take quite a while. You may need to speak with several different persons before you can find the correct one to help with your specific needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vertex is helping solving are sales tax management and returns preparation. The benefit we receive is that we do not have to have our employees stay on top of rate and rule changes; this is managed and updated for us. Vertex helps to keep us compliant with all the states and districts we sell and operate out of, they save lots of headaches.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Vertex O Series has the Leasing module so it's tailored directly to our business.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not really a dislike, rather just a learning curve to get comfortable configuring O Series.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cradle to grave automation of our sales tax process. Everything from upfront tax calculation at lease origination, to exemption certificate admin, to customized tax calculations for our customers, to return filing. We aren't quite there in terms of full configuration but we are looking forward to that day!

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is complex enough to handle complicated tax items but easy enough for users to navigate and use.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like we don't have good support on managing the software within NetSuite itself-this can be challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Marketplace facilitator rules and collecting filing sales tax in the USA and Canada.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Overall this is a good product. We use NetSuite with Vertex and the dynamic of managing the two systems to work effectively together has been the aspect we find most challenging.
Vertex O Series for Sales Tax with ERP
What do you like best about the product?
Integration is quite easy WITH ERP, with some Functional Configurations in ERP. Once the integration is done, the Tax request call from ERP TO Vertex and Sales Tax calculation and updation on ERP is seamless

The user interface of the Vertex O Series is something that can be improved.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about vertex is you can import and export data in different types, and you can prepare the return with ease. Also, there are various tools in vertex which makes your work much easier
What do you dislike about the product?
The major drawback is we can only import the data in XML form, which can be improved, and also the location tracking and codes, which sometimes don't, match with the website location codes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have worked on return preparation data importing and exporting from the vertex, and also, there were many instances wherein I have worked on TDS. It is really helpful when coming to prepayment and interest calculation and when we are preparing annual reconciliation for the state returns.

The ability to track tax certificates, expiration dates, and special tax situations (taxable vs non-taxable) and integrate with ERp system.

Vertex times out even while I am typing in data, so I have to restart

Tax/Non-Tax situations by product, PO or invoice are automated and reduces the need to make case by case adjustments.

API they provide is not streamlined but they are stable and simple.
