Intuitive Program with Hands on Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
The software is very straightforward and user friendly. Customer service is very hands on and responsive. They truly try to dig deep to discover root cause of any issues we may encounter with the program properly interfacing with our ERP. Our ERP system is highly customized, so they work closely with us to meet our unique busniess needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the software is not always compatible with how highly customized our ERP system, but we find work arounds.

Vertex has helped us with unique tax calculations on medical devices.
Disappointing product and support
What do you like best about the product?
Joe that help implement Vertex and Rachel over in the premium returns department.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once you save a configuration you are locked out of vertex for an indefinite amount of time where you cant add anything. This causes problems when exempt customers try to place orders.
You have to open a support ticket to get anyone to talk to you. The team drags it out days/weeks and never sends helpful information.
I was left to fend for myself during go-live week 3 months ago and are still dealing with issues.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
None. Vertex was supposed to make my job easier but it is causing more work.

What do you like best about the product?
I could see how this would have made a possitive impact in our indirect tax function. Technology used to automate processes would have freed up time from managers.
What do you dislike about the product?
The implementation team was from the start a big issue since they did not take the time to understand our business and how we operate. Vertex treated us as simply another number and not as a star client that one would expect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At this stage vertex is not solving problems, six months into the implementation we are still batling to fix bugs in the system. We hoped that by now we would have had a fully operational tax determination system.
How would I funtion without Vertex!
What do you like best about the product?
I am so thankful for Vertex Returns On-Deman! It is easy to use. Once a month I upload the data and a few clicks my returns are ready to file. No more manual excel files and monthly rate lookups. All the forms and prepays are there for whatever forms are needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hoping that Vertex finds an easier way to log into Vertex Returns On-Demand than waiting for an email code to log in. Hoping for the password to last longer than 30 days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently, on a very old ERP system and Vertex Q Series. Hoping to upgrage to Vertex O and have the entire suite or products working together ( SAP, O Series, Returns OnDemand and ECM/Wizard). I know its a dream but I will continue dreaming!
I use Vertex to upload tax data and review/approve tax returns submitted through Vertex.

How easy Vertex is to navigate, and I can always find what I'm looking for.

I sometimes found it a bit challenging to find specific answers regarding questions on how to set certain things up on Vertex.

Vertex is solving the problem of help with tax compliance matters and making it easier to file sales and use tax returns.

My staff raves about the software and all its different features. We know that we can rely on the fact that the forms and rates are current. It's very user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
When uploading notices to the platform, there isn't an option to put them in the associated tax period. It might help with the organizing of these notices.

The software offers an efficient way to manage our compliance. It also generates reports to assist us in monitoring and aiding future projections.

What do you like best about the product?
Vertex experience and reliability. We have been using Vertex for over 10 years now. Vertex continues to provide the needed tax calculation consistently.
What do you dislike about the product?
It appears that system maintenance appears to be increasing in frequency which always brings about some concern on up time. Maintenance is good but frequency does raise some concern.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Vertex On Demand allows for a central tax engine with minimal requirement of IT support such as loading monthly rate updates etc.

Helpful and knowledgable
What do you like best about the product?
When I've needed to reach out for help, whether it's help from my rep or customer service, they are quick to respond and make sure I'm taken care of. They are great at explaining solutions for issues that I have.
What do you dislike about the product?
The system is a little hard to navigate. I will be utilizing the Vertex University courses to get a better understanding of the different screens and how to properly create reports, etc.

Vertex provides up to date sales and use tax rates for us to quote and later collect from customers when they make purchases.
