    Computer & Network Security

An overall good utility to setup feature flags in a new firm or project

  • June 10, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ld-proxy that aggregates requests & caches flag values locally, saving tons of round trips and is very easy to setup, usage history, flexible values using json.
What do you dislike about the product?
Annoying to change flags across environments (we have quite a few of them), even in the new beta view. No ability to fall back to "code defaults", as I must always define _some_ default which is always taken instaed of what's defined in code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly gradual rollout of features

What do you like best about the product?
I mostly like the "History" feature and the evaluations feature
What do you dislike about the product?
It's hard to change flag type, meaninig if in mistake I make an boolean flag instead of string I need to delete my flag and recreate it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using LD mostly to create a feature flags.

Using LD a lot for configuratuon purposes

  • June 06, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very useful to create simple configurations quickly based on a lot of variations.
Creating rules is somewhat simple and convenient
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing a lot if rules is not that easy, it becomes very hard when I have more than 3 variations in a single flag
I would like to be able to manage one flag based on specific criteria easier.
For example be able to manage flag per client,l as high level, and then create rules separately under this specific client.
Be able to view all flag values per condition (for example, what will be all the values for client)
Client connection to LD should be more stable
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Configuration for different clients abd environments

Experience with LD

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of creating and retrieving feature flags
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally, the flag values are cached and take awhile to update. This confuses me when I'm developing as I first assume something is wrong with my code or the way that I set up the flag.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows us to quickly turn off misbehaving features in production without redeployment.

Would like to see more support for an open source community and limited user time sensitive free trials.

LaunchDarkly is the most mature feature flag management software

  • May 22, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easily allows me to do everything related to creating and managing feature flags.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be a little easier to use, especially when changing environments
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LaunchDarkly is now trying to reinvent how services are deployed and rolled back using their bug detection platform which is really cool. It will benefit all companies discover bugs before their customer base does -- it is called release guardian!

Manager, Software Engineering

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
LaunchDarkly allows my team to iterate on features and experiment both internally and externally to ensure the best experience for our customers before fully releasing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Always needing to go to the website to create flags and then copying that into the code. A co-pilot or VSCode integration will be excellent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to deploy to prod continuously, but not release new features until they are fully baked and vetted.

Allowing us to experiment with a new release and have BETA releases and slow rollouts to see the affect of a new feature.
