Does not work with Google AppEngine; UI change frequently.

APM is a powerful, intuitive analytics tool

  • July 28, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
APM has been an invaluable tool for monitoring and managing multiple applications running on the same server. Detailed stack traces allow you to quickly identify and fix the offending resources before customers are impacted.

This suite enables real-time performance monitoring at a glance.
What do you dislike about the product?
On the essentials tier, insights events and metric data retention is only for 72 hours. This isn't usually much of an issue, as any catastrophic service interruption is going to get noticed before 3 days are up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My use case was using this on a beefy VPS running a fair number of separate Wordpress instances.

Real, actionable insights into our applications' and server's status allowed us to identify bottlenecks and optimize our server configuration to eliminate slow response times and increase server throughput.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
DO IT!

This product is an incredible value for the amount of actionable insights you get for a relatively small cost. If you or your organization are looking for a low cost way to improve quality of service, you could do far worse then choosing New Relic.

Really good analytics platform

  • July 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to read graphs and charts. Easy to use UI
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe there could be more things that it could read. I'm still looking for an easy way to monitor memory usage
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
New Relic is just providing dashboard monitoring for some of our website hosting and infrastructure. We've used it to help diagnose speed and performance issues in the past
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'm not familiar enough with any competitors to say how they rank in comparison, but we get it free as part of the Pantheon platform.

Being able to track down a performance degradation down to the relevant code deployment and commit is a super useful feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
- The UI can be slow and overcrowded sometimes.
- Tracking performance in custom code can be tricky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to make sure our system is responding as fast as possible to our customer. We are using New Relic to continuously pinpoint performance bottlenecks and address them.

    Internet

Really useful for monitoring our websites server

  • July 21, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use it for website monitoring, to track errors, execution time, and call path. It is really easy to trace errors and to pinpoint what is going on. We are able to easily see why certain transactions are slow and able to make improvements based on that. The alerts for error rate have saved us a few times, they would go off and we found and fixed issues quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is a bit hard to use, and things are really hidden sometimes. It has a bit of a learning curve but once you get there it it very usable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted more insight into our website performance and errors. We receive actionable information around our webapp.

    Internet

A very powerful, flexible tool

  • July 20, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It offers a lot of useful tools to monitor your application's health. It has a lot of detailed performance data that lets you quickly identify problem areas and bottlenecks. The live alerts are extremely useful, too, allowing us to maintain uptime even outside of work hours or any time we aren't actively working.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's extremely tedious to pull any historical data, even something as simple as a single error that occurred last week. The sheer number of features also makes it very difficult to find exactly what you need at times, or even know if what you're looking for exists.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As mentioned above, we use New Relic APM to monitor our application's health and track down bugs as they appear.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take some time to explore and see which of the fancy charts mean anything to you. You'll thank yourself when you're trying to dig up critical error data later.
