Best for programming and development

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Ubuntu is open source and easy to use with fewer system hardware requirements. It is affordable for beginners who going to make a career in computer scinece.
What do you dislike about the product?
All is good but most of the things on ubuntu are need to be done by the command line, this is going to be difficult to set up their system for newbies. Less option of applications to install like other operating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I am a developer, I can't afford high configuration laptop during college times. So Ubuntu lightweight OS is good for development. In the programming world, Ubuntu is also known as programming OS and supports most development tools (IDE). It supports machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning, it is worthful to use.
It is also secure so in my company is the most useable OS.

I’ve used Kali Linux and Ubuntu for 6 years now

  • March 17, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The main problem about Ubuntu is installing a virtual box.
I do not know why but there so many things that are left for only the user to do.
Though there are help online but users would want more support especially the new users.
For us experienced users, it's ok
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the fact that Ubuntu is now concerned about the normal windows desktop-like features in its UI.
I feel the old terminal look was the best.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to code my python scripts, to run bash script and also to implement automation on a network using cron and crontab

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Unlike Windows, Ubuntu does not use a lot of resources.
The best part is, you can use it as CLI (Command Line Interface) like a system server and as well as a desktop for normal user.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some user may find it not user-friendly. Especially Windows PC users may have difficulty if they suddenly switch to the Ubuntu desktop. So, desktop computer experience can be improved to make it more user-friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Ubuntu Server to configure several Webserver, Network Monitoring Servers, NTP server for the network, etc.

It is very easy to find solutions in the Ubuntu community if you are stuck or hit some issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
All network administrator should use the Ubuntu.

Ubuntu-not better than kali

  • January 20, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is like about Ubuntu is its operating system which is after all Linux. The command shell matches that of MAC, so very easy to use on both platforms and operating systems. Along with that, the UI is great for scripts and python.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing I dislike and that too if I compare with other variants of Linux is that as a Cybersecurity Analyst it is not as efficient as Kali Linux with various inbuilt tools for penetration testing. However, it is still easy to install it from the command line, but it does consume a lot of time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a new bee in cybersecurity, it is always easy to start with ubuntu as the easy Linux operating system. With easy and flexible UI it is beneficial to manage a Virtual machine with low memory storage and less RAM as compared to other variants. Python becomes easy in this system with easy compatibility. Also, the notes features is amazing and easy to use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are new to using Linux, I recommend using it. However, nowadays KALI Linux is the best variant to use.
