    Computer Software

Experience was good

What do you like best about the product?
Nature of use, I liked the most in ubuntu. There are lots of Unix os available in the market but the most useful is ubuntu because it is easy to install and use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Frankly speaking, the UI part I disliked the most in UI. When I was using this os, I used to optimise it for my own convenience as it's ui was not good for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There was a library in my project, which becomes the reason to use ubuntu as that library can't be used on other os. That was the open source. Ubuntu solved our problem and made that library usable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I don't think that advice will work here. As a developer we know that Unix provide us more convenient environment to code and use them

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is virus-free and it supports a lot of software where anybody can use. Since 2015 I am using Ubuntu which is user-friendly, free of charge, high security and it's compatibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even though Ubuntu is very user-friendly to us it has some drawbacks such as it doesn't support new games, you have to install it manually, and you can't play MP3 audio files as it is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
as I am Lecturer I am using daily for teaching-learning process all over the semesters in all courses like Electrical workshops, advanced numerical methods, power system protection and control etc.

Best OS for developers

  • December 21, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is a very straightforward OS to use. I especially like the flexibility that the terminal offers especially as a Software Developer. It's my go to terminal to use on Windows (bash)! The best use for Ubuntu I've been privy to is the VM and server capabilities. I learned about VMs and their usefulness on Ubuntu and from then, I've been well versed in virtualization.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can take a bit of getting used to, so there is a learning curve to consider when getting into Ubuntu. It helps that I got an introduction to Ubuntu from a young age, but it's not as user-friendly as Windows or macOS. It's more for tech-savvy persons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu helps you experience the true power of computers because of their flexibility. The most significant benefit of using Ubuntu is having complete customization or building new software because it's easier to manage your dependencies on Ubuntu. You also have bash's powerful scripting capabilities at your fingertips.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I urge everyone to get into Ubuntu if you're serious about computing. From networking to hardware to software, there's nothing you can't do in Ubuntu once it's related to computing.

I wanted a desktop alternative to Windows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Verify that it has all of the features you need before switching.

  • December 18, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its very fast, low processing required runs with low RAM. Easy to use, fast installation of any debian package. Providing solution in almost very aspects. It gives us a soft glance and graphically its design is really best. Its reapository alsot everything which a normal user requires.
What do you dislike about the product?
It consumes bettary as comapre to windows, do not good with gamers.
In order to use ubuntu as a server, the response times are very slow. It takes time to boot up as compare to centos. No doubt centos is really good at booting up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has very higher bootup process which takes time to bootup the server and running services on checkconf. Secondly ubuntu heatup the processor which triggers the turbo engine and extra fans.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fast for running not good with boot up processess

Ubuntu: everything you could ever need

  • December 16, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is really easy to use, installing software is also very simple. The community is really active, so there's always someone who had Ubuntu-related issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some apps are not available, and alternatives are not as good. That's a problem with linux in general, but ubuntu alleviates it a bit by having support for many applications. The OS is also hard to customize.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most open-source software and development is on Ubuntu. Any developer needs Linux, and Ubuntu is by far the easiest way to have Linux. Ubuntu comes with all the toolchains necessary to write good software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know how to manage a disk if using another OS. Otherwise it's well documented

Best in Market for Developers

  • December 16, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part about using ubuntu is that you have a user-friendly interface and active websites solving issues or queries of users.
The system is robust compared to all the other operating systems out in the market. I would recommend developers to you it.
What do you dislike about the product?
A new user might get puzzled if he mistakenly changes permissions of files and folders, which might give them nightmares to fix.
You will find solutions on the internet that would be helpful to overcome such common mistakes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have worked on ubuntu since I started my development career; it's easy to use.
You need to run commands to install pretty much everything.
It saves development costs as it's open-source.
