Robust but lacking incentive

Ubuntu server is robust and dependable. Our team never has to worry about a system update breaking our deployment. Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, also provides support in case something does go wrong. That lifeline is essential for our business operation.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is essentially Debian with extra steps. There are no major features that Ubuntu on the server side provides, but does have some caveats, notably the inclusion of "Snap" packages. Snap packages are meant to be helpful, but can often conflict with non-Snap packages if not careful. Their inclusion should be an explicit opt-in by the user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team needed an operating system to deploy our applications on, from payroll to in-house technology solutions. Ubuntu server has been excellent at its job, providing a stable platform. It runs many applications such as Docker, Portainer, and NGINX flawlessly. This reliability allows us to dedicate our resources to other matters.

An easy-to-use solution for desktops, MCE with Kubernetes platform but lacks support, stability and scalability
What is most valuable?
Ubuntu Linux is easy to start, and MicroK8s is easy to deploy. Plug into the back-end storage and networking is also easy.
It is good to start with 3-4 nodes, but hard to scale. For production grades like 20 or 100 nodes, we go with the RedHat for on-premise.
What needs improvement?
The support team is not good and needs to be improved. The user community is excellent and helpful, but some questions are unanswered. Also, stability and scalability could be improved.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Ubuntu Linux as an end user for six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The tool could be more stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The product’s scalability is not better. RedHat is better. We’ve more than ten users using this product. We plan to increase the usage when there is a requirement or specification.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is easy. Deploying OS is fast and takes less than a day.
We can do the installation on a small scale without consultants, but when it comes to scale.
Ubuntu is an OS. You need the specification, storage, network, IP, etc., and deploy it by orchestration or just do the standalone installation infrastructure.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
If the customer wants to start, there is no license required. It is all free, but they must purchase the production license.
What other advice do I have?
Mostly, the product is on-premise, but in some cases, we managed to deploy applications in the cloud.
The solution is easy and simple to start because of complete documentation. When you go for production, we must purchase the hardware and OS license.
Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
Good for testing applications and that’s about it
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's very simple to use. Nothing fancy and when we had to test a couple codes in our testing phase of our application, we were able to do it in a jiffy
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that it is something that has to be installed by support team. So there was a time lag because we had to until manually install it in a new joinee's system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to run our application's code in our ubuntu server. As a devops engineer, we have to constantly monitor and continously integrate changes and we were able to quickly run our code during testing phase and make any changes.
Useful Open Source Endpoint OS
What do you like best about the product?
No license cost. Does not require more hardware resource. Works well with even 2 GB RAM. GUI is simple and easy to use. Performance is good and system boots fast. Inbuilt Security features are ok and even industry standard AV may not be needed. OS is stable and patches are not released frequently. Works well in call center industries and most of the crm and click to call products can be integrated. Internet browser is ok
What do you dislike about the product?
Industry standard business applications do not work. Cannot integrate with Active directory. Industry standard av are not compatible. Technical support is a challenge. Training is needed for staff before they can use. Cannot control the OS centrally and audit trail feature is not good
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using for staff who are taking incoming and doing outbound calls for customers and they access only one or two applications. We are using the OS for one of the IIFL group companies
