How from MacOS I moved to Ubuntu

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was an interesting decision, I started to work on macOS once I got my job, to work on Linux is the best but MacOS all the time prevented me to do basic things, mac performance was really bad and I was really suffering while I was working on mac, so I tried to find a strong PC but with Linux OS, so that's how I met ubuntu. It's simple lean works fast, I have a really good performance and for work, it's a really good OS
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu is not an enterprise it's a mix between open source plus community who developing it, I was opening a ticket by myself once I was getting random bugs with my headphones or keyboard or Bluetooth module, all of that stuff wasn't happening on MacOS bc there's a huge company behind with many tests and teams who check all of the different use cases with all of the different types of devices
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu really good OS for servers or desktops, most of the time I'm using a desktop version and we have servers running on ubuntu, I can say that developing on ubuntu is much easier than mac, year after year that OS getting more and more tweaks wich really helpful and changes UX from that system, I am programmer so to work with IntelliJ, VS code all of the cloud stack very easy and fast than Windows

Go to operating system for the developers

  • August 16, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Ubuntu is a free and open-source operating system. It is incredibly user-friendly and has an excellent support community. It also has a great selection of apps and software, making it highly customizable. The fact that it is based on the Linux kernel also makes it one of the most secure operating systems available.
What do you dislike about the product?
I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 and I'm not very impressed with the desktop environment. It feels very laggy and unresponsive, and I've noticed a significant drop in my system's performance. I'm also having a hard time customizing my desktop as I'm used to, which is a major disappointment. I'm considering switching back to the previous version of Ubuntu 20.044, as I think this one is just too sluggish.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is an open-source operating system and a popular choice for web development. It provides a secure and stable operating system that is easy to use and maintain. Ubuntu also has an extensive repository of software packages, allowing developers to quickly and easily access and install the software they need. Ubuntu also has support for a wide variety of languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, PHP, and C++, making it an excellent choice for web developers. Furthermore, it has a robust and flexible system for setting up and managing web servers. All of these features make Ubuntu an ideal platform for web development.

Ubuntu for running real time applications

  • August 13, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is one of the best Linux Distributions, In Linux when I used to install or update software it is good to know what packages and libraries are installed with that and it's all listed out before doing any operation in the terminal without blandly installing all like in Other Windows OS, and in most companies, applications are running in Ubuntu only I believe, whenever some service down due to some reason, it is fast to login, and running easy Linux commands to find the root cause and up that service.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compared to other OS there is less software in Ubuntu like Video Players, Games etc and required more Secured Software in Ubuntu Software Store.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is the first Linux Distributions I used to learn and practice Linux commands and helps to debug errors faster, After this, I get more comfortable and learnt Docker and Kubernetes commands easily.

  • August 12, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Ubuntu is still a open source opreating system and free to use. Secondly it is very light os and required minimal hardware requirement to run. Most importantly it is much better from the security point of you. for IT professonals, web developer it is best platform to work who loved to work with commandline instead of GUI like windows.
What do you dislike about the product?
Still all the software are not available for ubuntu that is the minus point and you have to be familiar to Linux commands to make smooth working. And some software like photoshop can't be used on ubuntu. Execpt these issue it is best opreating system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In an It company choosing ubuntu cut the very large cost on windows licence and it helped us to create a secure environment due to its valid and good security policies and also get rid it of from many virus attack on computers.

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When I try to install the new os ubuntu I liked the user experience and it is one of the best, after using ubuntu I never used the previous OS and I deleted that. And it is open source too, easy to install and it doesn't require advanced knowledge experience with Ubuntu we can use if we know some basics command, security is one of the best features they provide.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, but sometimes when I try to install new software and it will take more time to respond, and also better to add some most used software in the ubuntu software store.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The best about ubuntu is free/open-source, for older laptops, we can also install ubuntu and use it like a pro and its compatibility with hardware are best, it recognizes the vulnerabilities during installation of new softwrae and in my IT experience, most of the my application run on ubuntu server.

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The boot speed of Ubuntu is fantastic. it is user-friendly and secure Linux Compared to windows you can say it is 10 times faster.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit less support for native games. the number of open source games is also very less. the upgrade process can be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is faster so it is saving my time. The other big problem is licensing. As it is open source, for startups it is cost-saving.

Powerfully versatile

  • August 08, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Combine the usability of a good interface, and being able to manage things from the console with all the versatility that Linux can offer as an OS. That you can be managing a server, a laptop or a desktop without noticing the difference.
What do you dislike about the product?
Office automation programs are very limited compared to those with a proprietary license. More robust programs are needed in this sense so that the OS can be used more widely in the business world.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is much safer than other operating systems because there are no viruses that overshadow its performance. In addition, it is much safer in terms of information consistency and access.

Fast and Easily Approachable OS - Ubuntu

  • August 07, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Ubuntu is its accessibility through both GUI and terminal. One can do amazing tasks by just accessing the OS through terminal and everything is now available through GUI also including the Software center in comparison to Windows. Moreover, it's open source and free.
What do you dislike about the product?
The upgrades every 4 years are hardware dependent. The EOL support should be extended up to at least 6 years and it should be readily available for usage and should be promoted in organizations and schools and colleges.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solved many problems starting from my college to the current date today. I started with python development in 2015 and up to now, I am using it. I had also installed a robotic operating system and much other development was easily approachable with Ubuntu OS.
