Better than other cloud picture providers

  • December 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use:

Downloading a folder that contains all of the pictures from a campagin is useful. Especially since it's a faster download compared to how other manufactureres provide the pictures.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way all files are stored in a tradional computer type folder system. Sometimes you have to go through 5 folders to find the picture you are after. If there was better organization tools this could help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having access to OEM pictures in quick and uniform way.

A tool whose effectiveness makes it easy to forget

  • December 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Optimisation and automatic generation of images adapted to each device. A real plus for easily optimising the user experience and the KPIs associated with CoreWeb Vitals. The solution is easy to integrate thanks to the wide range of frameworks supported. It's a tool that knows how to make itself invisible while providing real added value. It's becoming an essential part of our day-to-day business. The support team is very responsive, and I've used it to deal with invoicing issues and have always received a fast, efficient response.
What do you dislike about the product?
Monitoring of consumption and usage could be improved. The indicators are fairly poor. It would also be good to be able to filter out unhelpful bots that consume credits. Caching is very good, sometimes too good. It's quite difficult to make an image cache expire.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's very easy to manipulate existing images to adapt them to the new constraints of a design system. What's more, the optimisation and automatic generation of images adapted to each device is also a real performance booster.

A must-have vendor for any site optimization needs

  • December 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love Cloudinary's on the fly transformations which can be activated by writing only a few words on the image or video url. At my job we rely heavily on it for video and image optimizations. No other vendor comes close when it comes to providing this service. This allows images to load fast and keeps our google site speed scores in great standards. Cloudinary has some great advanced features as well as custom widgets, and advanced video cropping options. Cloudinary offers tons of options and has great documentation available online.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Cloudinary JS automatically updates. I would rather have control on when it updates as it can break things when using their widget. (This does not impact hosted images and videos that are in Cloudinary.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloudinary is always constantly improving its features on how it automatically resizes hosted images, and updates its widgets frequently which end up working great in the end.

Excellent DAM, huge flexibility

  • December 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is incredibly fast and has a huge amount of features that find assets very easy to find and create a wide variety of assets easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
The set up is key to creating finable assets. Sadly a lot of our products are similar to there isn't any automatic tagging that is useful for us. Their AI release isn't suitable for us either despite great hope.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast image storage for our website. I've found it to be really helpful compared to our previous platform and impressed by the new features that get released.

Good Features, Never had an issue with services and product

  • December 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The scaling and transformation of images
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability to compress images in bulk. It would be a great feature to pick a folder and say compress images down to this quality. This would compress the original image reducing storage costs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dedicated CDN to host images and perform transformations

Image serving for company web site through Cloudinary

  • December 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and robust cross-platform integration has made Cloudinary an indispensable asset for the online presence of Bass Pro Shops. Moving from Adobe Scene7 to Cloudinary was made easy by expert technical support and good communcation with Cloudinary's engineers. Several teams in Digital Production work daily in Cloudinary to support web initiatives and build product imagery for online and retail purposes. We literally could not function without Cloudinary.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complaints or dislikes are minimal. Asset searches can be a bit tedious and Cloudinary didn't have an out-of-box solution for a video sitemap. But, those have been minor concerns and Cloudinary has been quick to help us with any issues that have come up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloudinary serves as our image host for online sales. They were able to quickly and efficiently get us moved from our previous host, Adobe Dynamic Media (Scene7), and up and running with virtually no downtime.

simply best cdn

  • September 06, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use cloudinary for media cdn and it does the job very well. It is fast and secured.
I like cloudinary features like runtime watermarks generation, easy of resize images , supports all the image formats available and most important it is cheaper than other competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel that they should provide upto 50GB for free tier instead of 25GB bandwidth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It resolves our daily need of media CDN for storefronts.

A comprehensive API for easily uploading media files from server-side code

  • July 31, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Cloudinary is a cloud hosting platform for images and videos. It provides APIs for developers to host their images on the platform. I use it to build applications where images are hosted in the cloud rather than on local storage. This helps with optimizing and managing images efficiently.

How has it helped my organization?

For digital asset management, I store all my images on Cloudinary instead of on my phone or laptop. This allows me to optimize the images, reduce their file sizes, and use them across various social media platforms. Depending on the use case, Cloudinary offers different options to manage and utilize images effectively.

What is most valuable?

As a developer, I find Cloudinary valuable because it provides many opportunities for building applications. For example, I recently created an AI application that can read images and automatically generate captions, which helps in describing images or videos without manual input. Cloudinary's APIs support this functionality and enhance my development process.

One of the most beneficial features of Cloudinary is its asset management capabilities. I can tag and categorize images and videos based on their content, such as tagging videos where a person is wearing glasses. This helps in organizing and managing media effectively.

I have experimented with Cloudinary's automation capabilities, but I am still learning and haven't fully explored its potential. Currently, I want to use Cloudinary to improve user engagement with my videos, such as tracking who is viewing and interacting with my media. This is a feature I plan to explore more in the future.

What needs improvement?

I haven't really thought about what improvements I’d like to see in Cloudinary recently. One thing that comes to mind is the capability for hosting very large video files, similar to platforms like YouTube. Cloudinary is not as widely known for video uploads as other platforms, and it would be great if it had a larger user base for this purpose.

Apart from marketing and video uploading, I haven't identified specific features or functionalities that need improvement. It’s been a while since I actively used Cloudinary, and I’m just starting to get back into it. Once I’m more familiar with it again, I’ll have a better idea of any gaps or areas for enhancement. I’ll need to think more about this and might provide feedback later.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've known Cloudinary for over five years. I recently built an application using Cloudinary, so I'm familiar with their products.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find Cloudinary to be stable. Since it's a cloud-based solution hosted on various servers, it manages downtime effectively. The only minor issue I've encountered is occasional delays in generating responses, which might be due to slow internet. However, overall, I haven’t experienced significant downtime or stability issues.

How are customer service and support?

I’ve used several support channels for Cloudinary. They have a community forum and a Discord channel where you can ask questions and get help. The Discord channel is particularly active, with many Cloudinary experts and technical folks available to assist. There’s also Twitter for reaching out with any issues. Depending on where you ask, you might get support directly from the Cloudinary team or from other users.

I mostly use Discord for support since that’s where the whole team and other professionals are. They also host webinars to answer questions and demonstrate product features.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Cloudinary, I worked with other digital asset management solutions. Many of them required payment for accessing full features, which I found less appealing. Cloudinary’s free version offers a lot, and I preferred its UI and functionality, so I stuck with it.

How was the initial setup?

For deployment and initial setup, it was straightforward. You simply need to visit the Cloudinary website, create an account, and sign up using your Google or GitHub account, or with your email to generate a password. The signup process is easy, and I didn't encounter any difficulties. After creating an account, you can access and start using the platform immediately.

You can interact with the platform through its documentation and explore what it offers even before gaining full access.

What about the implementation team?

Regarding maintenance, it’s minimal. I don’t have to do much to keep it running. Once set up, Cloudinary continues to work well without needing frequent updates or changes from my end. The platform remains consistent, even with regular updates.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I’m using the free version of Cloudinary.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend Cloudinary to others. It’s user-friendly and doesn’t require you to be technical to use it. The UI and landing page are clear and provide all the information you need to get started, so you don’t have to learn programming to make it work. Overall, I’d rate Cloudinary a nine out of ten. It’s a great platform.
