The Sophos suite from a user's perspective

What do you like best about the product?
The products were fairly simple to deploy. The Sophos team assisted with deployment and ensured it worked as expected before handing us off to our threat response team.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I disliked was how Sophos completely revamped their central dashboard. I'm able to navigate fine now, but midway through our contract, the whole look changed and categories were moved around. I also think the central dashboard can load a bit quicker.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sophos is constantly monitoring our devices and network for anomalies or threats and taking action. They partner with our security team to resolve suspicious activities or compromises in our user's data. This gives us piece of mind and a barrier from malicious actors.

user-friendly interface combined with powerful security features, such as synchronized security with endpoint devices, advanced threat protection, and real-time traffic visibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
firmware updates can occasionally cause unexpected issues or require manual intervention.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Threat Protection – It blocks malware, ransomware, and intrusions in real-time with features like IPS, ATP.

Uncontrolled Internet Usage – It enforces web filtering and application control to prevent access to harmful or unproductive sites.

Remote Access Security – It secures connections for remote workers using reliable VPNs.

Network Visibility – It provides deep insights into traffic, user activity, and threats through an intuitive dashboard.

What is our primary use case?

I use Sophos XG as a channel partner, providing it to our customers for next-generation firewall solutions, Wi-Fi access points, and other security features. My customers include industries such as banking, manufacturing, IT, hospitals, and healthcare.

What is most valuable?

I regard Sophos XG as a superior choice among firewalls due to its advanced security, user manual, and control panel features, among others. The firewall offers effective policy management, bandwidth management, and group policy features from a sales perspective.

Additionally, customer support is highly regarded, with a technical representative swiftly addressing customer queries through the Sophos partner portal.

What needs improvement?

Sophos XG is reaching its end-of-life and end-of-support; therefore, the user count limitation of particular models should be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Sophos XG for around five to six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of Sophos XG as ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate scalability as ten out of ten, indicating that it is easy to scale up for a larger number of users.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support from Sophos XG is excellent. When my customers raise a ticket, a customer representative calls them immediately to address their queries. I rate customer service nine out of ten.

My customers see a return on investment and value for money with Sophos XG.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I consider the pricing reasonable; it depends on the model and license type, like one-year, two-year, or five-year licenses. Compared to other firewalls like Fortigate, SonicWall, and Palo Alto, I find Sophos XG cost-effective.

What other advice do I have?

I highly recommend using Sophos XG for enhanced security purposes and organizational structure implementation. Furthermore, I rate Sophos XG as ten out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Sophos Firewall is its comprehensive approach to security, combining advanced threat protection with simple management. The integration with other Sophos solutions and its intuitive interface allows me to have more effective control over the network, without complications. Additionally, the ability to adapt to different network needs gives me the flexibility I am looking for.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that Sophos Firewall can be complicated to configure at first, especially when it comes to adjusting advanced rules or managing complex policies. Although it has many useful features, the interface is sometimes a bit unintuitive and can cause confusion for less experienced users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sophos Firewall may have issues related to complexity in configuration and alert management, which could result in a steeper learning curve for me. However, this can also benefit me, as by facing these challenges, I can develop a deeper understanding of its operation, allowing me to configure more customized and effective solutions to enhance network security.

While Sophos Firewall offers strong security, it has some drawbacks, including potential performance slowdowns when advanced features like deep packet inspection are enabled. Configuring complex settings can be challenging for less experienced users, and its integration with third-party security tools is somewhat limited. The reporting features could also be more detailed for advanced analysis, and while the firewall is competitively priced, some advanced features come with additional costs, which can increase the overall price for full functionality.

Best Next generation firewall

What do you like best about the product?
Sophos NGFW is the best firewall. It is easy to use, easy to integrate, easy to implement. It has number of others features and the customer support is always available to provide remote support. The frequency of use is very less once the firewall is configured in the network.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing to dislike in Sophos NGFW Firewall. Ilike everything about Sophos NGFW

Our organization was facing alot of cyber issue. After configuring Sophos NGFW in the network. Our organization never faced any cyber issue.

What do you like best about the product?
Sophos is one of the best firewall recommended by one of our It consultant. What i like about sophos firewall is its easy to use features, Ease of implementation, The customer support & its easy to integrate. The frequency of using firewall is leass. As its does not required special technical ITR team to handle the firewall.
What do you dislike about the product?
What i dislike about sophos firewall is its some time support. We have to wait 1-2 days to get the support from sophos support team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were facing ransomware attack at regural basis. We have tried various cyber security tools to get rid of ransomware attack. One day our IT consultant suggested us to try Sophos firewall. Today is the day we have never face any cyber threat or any ransomware attack.

What do you like best about the product?
Sophos firewall is stoping treats before they can spread, Sophos Firewalls: Automatically identify and block active threat, Prevent the lateral movement of attacks, Deliver immediate insights into compromised devices, users and application. Sophos firewall is easy to use & easy to implement. The frequency of use of sophos firewall is very high. The customer support is 24*7. Sophos firewall is easy to integrate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Theres is nothing to dislike in sophos firewall. i like everything about sophos firewall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sophos firewall solve our cyberthreat problems. Before sophos firewall our organization was facing lot of issues with the cyberthreats. There was ransomware attacks in our organization. Our IT team was not able to resolve the issue. Our Cybersecurity consultant has suggested us to shift our network into sophos. It has been one year since we are using sophos firewall and our network is safe now.

What is most valuable?

It has been a while since I have worked with the product in our company, and so I can't remember its most effective features.

What needs improvement?

The support service offered by Sophos is an area of concern where certain improvements are required. My company did not get enough support when, in our enterprise, we faced some issues with the product and needed support. For support, one has to go with the online community, and even then, it cannot be guaranteed that one will get the right support.

The support team's response time should be minimized. The support should be more available. I think that one has to wait for four or five days to get support. Business cannot stop just because of issues with support. The tool's renewal service was really good and straightforward.

Some of the working features of the product, like sandboxing functionalities, are complex for me to handle, especially since one has to buy them separately. You have to buy sandboxing features separately, but I believe that it needs to be given to a user along with the product. In my company, we couldn't find the detection features of the product. Though I did a remote code execution, and it stopped abruptly, it never showed where it actually stopped. In the area of reporting, there needs to be a lot of improvement in the tool.

Partner engagement is an area in which I feel there should be some improvements. Getting support or being able to deal with certain stuff when it comes to Sophos because of the OEM should be made possible. When an OEM is with you, you'll feel more comfortable doing business. My company started doing Fortinet a few days ago, but before that, we had Sophos. My company is moving away from Sophos because it is no longer needed. When it comes to the price or during some disconnection, my company doesn't get any support from Sophos.

I have been using Sophos XG since 2021.

I rate the technical support a six out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Our company uses Microsoft Defender, Kaspersky, and Trend Micro.

As my company has partnerships with Microsoft and Sophos, the best part we get is in the areas of support services and distributors as we are involved in the reselling business. My company also has to operate with some local resellers, so we get support from them at a good price from them, and even during deployment, we get some support from them. I worked with Microsoft in 2019 and stopped working with it in 2020 during COVID-19. I got familiar with many tools during COVID-19, so I can get the business prices of the solutions. If I keep Microsoft Defender aside, then my company does business with Trend Micro as well. Trend Micro provides whatever help my company needs, and the tool's team greatly engages with us and supports us. With Sophos, my company doesn't get any support. I think Sophos does not do direct business anymore. Sophos doesn't have any OEM office. If there is no OEM office for a product, the company can face a lot of trouble.

How was the initial setup?

I did business with Sophos in 2021. I think that last year, we got a Sophos Firewall deployed in our organization. The product's initial setup phase was straightforward.

The solution can be deployed in two days.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Nowadays, my company recommends Palo Alto and Fortinet. With Fortinet, my company is comfortable because it looks after our needs, and it is really helpful.

What other advice do I have?

The user interface of the product is good, especially since its customers are satisfied.

Sophos XG supports our customers' remote workflows well. As a customer-centric tool, they use it as part of their company.

The product can be recommended to SMBs. My company's people requested Sophos products for 450 people or endpoints, but we didn't get any response from Sophos. My company emailed an agent from Sophos, but we didn't get any response for 44 servers and 400 endpoints we wanted. I work at a hospital, so we didn't get any price quotation associated with the product.

The features of the product are good. It is not like Sophos told me something and its products were working in a different manner.

I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
Specifically the xgs3100 model, the gui interface is very simple and thorough. Setting up policies is a breeze. Alerts and statistics are very informative. Never had any issues.

Support, as well as migration team are very friendly and informative. MDR team responds quick to any anomalies in our network. and follows up until case is closed and we are satisfied.
What do you dislike about the product?
We havent found anything negative about using Sophos as our primary firewall solution.

Email filtering. Web filtering. VPN access. all points checked when using Sophos Firewall
