Easy to work with and continually improving!

What do you like best about the product?
Datadog has continually improved its product to increase my visibility into my running application.

In addition to raw information, their correlation facilities provide an awesome way to navigate the entier application.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside to Datadog is that the raw stats do not always aggregate in an expected way. This can be discovered via early testing so that stats can be adjusted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility into my running application. This allows me to definitely answer, "Is My Product Working."

Ensuring bug-free software with Datadog

  • May 09, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
When it comes to monitoring our database servers and cloud applications, I love the reliability that Datadog provides. It allows me to work on my computer knowing that everything is running smoothly, while providing a safety net in case something goes wrong or starts to consume too much power. This way, I'm able to quickly identify problematic processes and fix them before any serious damage is done - which gives me tremendous peace of mind.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like that Datadog requires users to register somewhere else if they want to upload a profile picture. It's too time-consuming and unnecessary for me, as it would be easier not to submit an image at all than to go through the tedious process of creating or finding an avatar, downloading it, and then uploading it to their platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DataDog has helped me eliminate the surprise of server resource outages by providing proactive alerts so I can identify and resolve problems before they affect our customers.

Best observability tool by far

What do you like best about the product?
It is an all-in-one platform meaning that in just one place you'll have log management, APM, infrastructure metrics, RUM, monitors, dashboards and even notebooks so you can document everything you're doing and share it with your team.

It is generally straightforward, and the Datadog team constantly releases new valuable features to improve the user experience.

The agent installation is simple for every platform you'll need and has many options depending on your use case.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of a log management language (such as Splunk's SPL) will not allow you to get much information from your logs unless you configure them immediately. If you work in a big company with thousands of users and dozens of teams, it will be a painful experience trying to make them follow a logging standard. In this case, a log management language will be helpful.

The agent configuration lacks the option to set mandatory attributes or tags. This would help configure the agent properly, making every team follow a defined standard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For more prominent companies, it allows us to monitor thousands of containers and pods with an easy way to visualize their behaviors. This directly impacts how quickly the incidents get mitigated because we can easily understand where the problem comes from. This helps reduce the time of outages and save money because of the same.
