    Sreekar A.

Very efficient CI/CD tool.

  • January 14, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Narrowing down CI/CD configuration to just one file i.e. .gitlab-ci.yml.
2. Integration to container orchestration engines like Kubernetes very easily.
3. Can even integrate very easily with other CI/CD tools like Jenkins
4. Variety of runners like to run pipeline jobs.
5. Clear and great documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Could be better if the upgrade process of GitLab is easy from one version to another version particularly with respect to the Postgres Database upgrade process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our CI/CD workloads run great and this helps us in building our products faster. Due to the easy CI/CD configuration in the gitlab-ci.yml file, we are able to concentrate more on the product building than the ci/cd configuration that needs to be done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would advise folks to use Gitlab as it has all the components in it instead of using different tools to manage the software delivery process. It has version control integrated, CI/CD, auto-devops and many others.

Makes SCRUM Life Easier!

  • January 13, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fantastic for version control, team integration, and continuous deployment all in one place. The interface is user friendly and intuitive, and the charts make it easy to keep up with project progression.
It's easy for the team to review code, add comments, and commit any needed changes before merging. The use of branching and the related visuals also assist with merge conflicts.
What do you dislike about the product?
a lot of the more premium features that were free in the past seem to be locked behind a pay wall now. It may be too intimidating for users who are not familiar with scrum and agile methods. Jenkins.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
version control, collaboration, team communication, deployment, continuous integration and testing, pipeline testing, storage of documentation, and it keeps stakeholders and developers on the same page.

What do you like best about the product?
Being Gitlab an open source project complete transparency. Best thing about Gitlab is that it provides complete DevOps workflow cycle. Now i don't need to integrate mutiple services to my DevOps cycle.
What do you dislike about the product?
My main pet peev with Gitlab is it's user interface. Sometimes it's confusing to navigate and it alot slower. And build times seems like take more times than they should.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly gitlab provides a complete DevOps cycle. It reduces complexity. As of don't think that it provides as much cost benefits to as much i thought but still it fullfils its purpose well.

GitLab for Repository Management and CI Pipeline

  • January 09, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Repository Management has been made easy and it has been utilized as a Continous Pipeline.
On check-in auto build process can be managed and email for success failure can be setup also.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool can be made useful for Continous Deployment also which can make it more useful.
If Continous deployment part can be added to it then it can become a single tool for managing code, integration and deployment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Source code repository management is managing the code repositories for us.
On submitting the code in repositories, all CI processes get managed automatically. And Junit tested jar/war file is available for deployment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would Recommend GitLab for everyone to manage their resource source code.

What do you like best about the product?
We can access all the aspects of a project, view code, pull requests, and combine conflict resolution.

Good & affordable platform for startups.

  • January 05, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When we started back with Gitlab a few years back, this was the only platform offering free private repositories for unlimited users. This was the deal-breaker for us as being a startup, we can't afford to spend too much on tools at the start of our software development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Recently they have renamed master branch to 'main,' and this is causing little confusion among our developers who are used to working with master. But I think this is not a big issue we will adapt over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are automating our development and deployment workflow, and a built-in issue tracker and webhooks came in handy when integrating with our internal support software.
