Easy to use and has good features like control panel, system settings, and backup

  • August 30, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Windows 10 is mostly used in our production system. We are a TV station with some software depending on an operating system. This software won't be able to start or manage in other operating systems. We were forced to use Windows 10. Since we updated that software, we switched to Windows 11.

Journalists and headquarters are using Windows 11. Some PCs in the international department use Windows 10 because some scripts and certificates still don't work as they should on Windows 11. Little by little, day by day, we are updating our software and switching to Windows 11.

What is most valuable?

I like the solution's control panel, system settings, and backup.

What needs improvement?

Windows 10 has a lot of Microsoft Widgets and preinstalled software we never use.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is a very stable solution.

I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Around 20 users are using Windows 10 in our organization.

I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also work with Windows 11. The hardware and operating system is easier in Windows 10. It is more fluid and easier to work with Windows 10 than on Windows 11.

How was the initial setup?

The solution’s initial setup is easy. Installing the operating system and setting up everything takes around one hour.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution’s initial setup an eight out of ten.

What was our ROI?

The solution is very efficient and provides value for money.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution’s pricing is reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

I am satisfied with the updates of Windows 10. I would advise users to choose Windows 11 because updates and support to Windows 10 will end soon.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Makes it easy to access the taskbar section and browser tabs

  • May 09, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 makes it easy to access the taskbar section and browser tabs. Additionally, I can easily access and use applications. I find the task manager valuable, as I can quickly access it and turn off applications I don't want to use. Having a default Windows security feature makes it easy to engage.

What needs improvement?

The solution could have AI-driven functionality and voice integration features.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is fair and takes 30-45 minutes, depending on the PC involved.

What other advice do I have?

Every few days, a new Windows update is released. It contains errors. It's often sold out, so it's hard to get. It practically sells itself. It's the go-to for PCs, and it's stable. It's worth a couple of hundred dollars for users.

Windows 10 includes features that allow it to run with various types of products and envision their capacity, so be sure to save it.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Easy to use and offers good performance

  • May 09, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company just to run my applications, especially the ones that are compatible with Windows 10. In our office work, we use the tool for emails, presentations, browsing the internet, and some other similar stuff.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution is the notepad.

What needs improvement?

My problem with the product stems from the fact that it does not ask for your opinion or time when going for an upgrade. I feel that the product just starts the upgrade abruptly. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement in the product. I would like the product to reduce the frequency of updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for about six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a very scalable solution.

In the APEC region, around 1,000 people use the product in the company. At a global level, there are around 2,000 people using the product.

Whether there are plans to increase the use of the product or not is something that depends on the plans that come out from our company's headquarters.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I have used Windows 7. In the past, my company used to use Apple macOS, but since we wanted to standardize everything, we moved to Windows OS.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase is pretty straightforward.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

The solution can be deployed and can be up and running in 30 minutes, after which I can directly use the tool.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company has opted for a volume-based license.

What other advice do I have?

The performance offered by Windows 10 is better compared to the one offered by Windows 7.

The security framework offered by the product is not good enough for our company, and this is one of the reasons why we are using an additional product for endpoint protection.

One thing that I don't like about the product is when I present the product to our company's client. The clients find that they need to update without any dialogue box appearing for them asking whether they want to update it or not.

To those who plan to use the product, I would say that they need to be careful while using free Wi Fi access.

With regards to whether the solution supports hardware compatibility compared to its previous versions, I would say that one of the reasons why my company moved to the cloud was for compatibility, but in general I know that there is a need to refresh technology after five to eight years of its initial purchase.

In terms of the benefits offered by the product, I would say that it is very easy to use and is very user-friendly.

I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

A stable operating system with Active Directory configurations

  • May 02, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

How has it helped my organization?

I prioritize stability and performance, so I'm accustomed to the Windows interface. When I attempt tasks on Linux, it feels unfamiliar to me. Prolonged usage, familiarity should lead to efficiency.

What is most valuable?

Active Directory configuration for administrators makes it very easy to manage the environment in companies or universities at an enterprise level, making it possible to do everything.

What needs improvement?

The solution could improve the availability and compatibility of applications like Linux. Additionally, refining the file transfer process to ensure smoother transitions between different applications or systems would be beneficial. Lastly, ensuring seamless compatibility with common file formats like PowerPoint presentations could enhance user experience and efficiency on Windows platforms. It should have less frequent updates for the UI and threats. I started with Windows 95. Sometimes, there are changes in the user interface, so some services and tools are in different places than in the previous version. It takes some time to get used to it.

The solution should improve the Windows startup process by allowing users to customise which components launch at startup is a valid one. This would give users more control over their system's performance and resource usage. Implementing a feature that allows users to easily manage startup programs and services, perhaps through a dedicated settings menu or a startup manager tool, could address this issue. This way, users could disable or enable specific applications and services according to their preferences, optimizing their system's performance and startup time. Additionally, providing clear information about the impact of each startup item on system resources could help users make informed decisions about which components to enable or disable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows for 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

I rate the solution’s stability eight or nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution’s scalability is good.

I rate the solution’s scalability ten out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The IT department, specifically the ICT team, provides support for this. Several people are involved. They manage the computer rooms, including installation and updates. A new installation is required every year because students change. I manage computers, adhering to organizational rules.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is fast.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You need to pay for a license for Windows 10 every month.

What other advice do I have?

Windows Defender aims to provide users with a secure computing experience, and it's advisable to keep your system updated to take advantage of the latest security enhancements.

I use a computer with only four gigabytes of RAM. There are ten nodes in my notebook. I plan to buy a new one with a huge RAM memory, but currently, only four gigabytes work in one node, while eight gigabytes work in an external computer. The system startup is very slow because the newest version of Windows requires more memory. Many services are running. It should change how Windows starts. Some components, like Skype, start automatically with Windows.

The solution's configuration is easy.

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
