Collaborative development has become more secure and efficient for our team

  • December 04, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

As a developer, we can work collaboratively, and Windows 10 is also good from a UI perspective. I chose to rate it an eight because I have faced issues when updates come in, which can be annoying. Another main issue is background apps running, so that is why I rate it eight.

What is most valuable?

We are already using Windows 10 as our operating system, so we clone our repository in Windows 10 and develop using some Microsoft software by installing them in Windows 10 as well. Windows 10 mainly helps us in our day-to-day developing works and debugging.

Windows 10 is a good operating system for a developer in terms of device encryption, which means full device encryption, so it is a more secure way to keep our data protected. The Windows 10 antivirus systems are excellent, and it is a secure solution. It also gives a good user-friendly interface, so it is easy to work with, and we mainly use Windows Sandbox, which is a lightweight, isolated environment to safely run unknown apps.

Windows 10 helps our team collaboration more because we have OneDrive and SharePoint for sharing our resources. OneDrive is for sharing common folders among team members and network shares folder. Windows 10 also helps us to use Microsoft Teams for group chat, video calls, and we can share our resources and have easy meetings and virtual meetings with clients abroad. It also supports VPN, which is mainly used at the organization level because we can manage our regional data easily.

Device encryption is a main priority for us as developers in a FinTech company because we have the most secure user data, so it is good to have encrypted data to manage our data. The device encryption is a good feature to keep the client data encrypted and secure.

Windows 10 is mainly providing updates for security and UI changes, so the security updates are very useful for us as developers, and even for personal use, the updates are excellent.

What needs improvement?

We have faced some issues with Windows OneDrive because if one developer has a folder in a common OneDrive folder, it took some time to show it to others. It becomes somewhat difficult to work, as there is latency on that, so if you update that, it will be more efficient and useful for the developers.

My main focus on Windows 10 is the giving of regular updates, so it might take some time to update Windows, which is also mandatory. As a developer, when we are working with Windows 10, if it takes more time to update and restart the PC, it affects our efficiency at work. If we could stop the updates on a regular basis or if they were delivered faster, it would be easier.

As a developer, the frequent updates are too annoying for working on it, so it would be better if we stop the frequent updates and only provide the most important ones. Performance issues over time due to background apps and programs piling up and using an SSD instead of a hard disk are also concerns.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have started my journey with computers, and I started with Windows 10. It has been more than fifteen to sixteen years that I am working with Windows, and for Windows 10, I think I have been working with it for around three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is stable for my daily development work, providing frequent security updates and user-friendly updates, which are excellent. My only concern is that updates take too long during restarts, which can be annoying, but otherwise, Windows 10 is a good solution for developers.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Windows 10 has good scalability and we rarely face issues. I think the only issues we encounter are with updates and background running apps. In other aspects, as developers, we can focus fully on our work without pressure or concerns about issues on our own PCs, making Windows 10 a good scalable solution for developers.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Windows 10 is excellent, but I have not directly worked with customer support because, as an organization, we meet with IT support, and they coordinate with Windows customer support. So I do not have much experience with that.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Linux alongside Windows 10, including Ubuntu and Kali Linux, which are not as user-friendly compared to Windows 10. As a software web application developer, user-friendliness is more efficient for us to work on, making it easy to focus on our tasks rather than the operating system. Windows 10 is a very fast operating system for developers, and that is why I switched.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Windows 10 Pro is very good, but I do not know how the pricing works at the organizational level because, as developers, we are using the solution, and the pricing details are handled by the IT team. So I do not have much experience with that.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

In evaluating options, I have used Kali Linux and Ubuntu and then switched to Windows 10 due to its user-friendliness, secure manner, and excellent Windows Defender. Additionally, we can easily use Microsoft Teams and OneDrive for shared folders, which is another reason I switched to Windows 10.

What other advice do I have?

If a newly joined developer is confused about choosing an operating system, I would advise them to use Windows 10 because it is a user-friendly operating system. A new developer can easily adapt to it, and security-wise, Windows 10 is good, so they do not need to worry about personal data or anything because the encryption levels are excellent. At the organizational level, we can work collaboratively on OneDrive and Teams, which makes our work efficient. I have rated this review an eight out of ten.

Has supported system deployments and improved multitasking through reliable virtual environments

  • October 23, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

My main use cases for Windows 10 are phased out currently, mainly involving deployment of user systems and setting up Active Directory.

What is most valuable?

Hyper-V optimizes hardware usage effectively; it doesn't sap all the resources from the computer and works very stably.

Windows 10's Task View feature for multitasking performs efficiently for putting multiple windows in one screen.

Windows Defender antivirus contributes to security management in my environment.

The initial setup of Windows 10 is straightforward.

What needs improvement?

I cannot think of any areas that could be improved or additional features for Windows 10 since I have been using Windows 11 for a while now.

Better support for Windows 10 would be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have approximately three to four years of experience with Windows 10 and IIS.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is reliable and stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of Windows 10 rates as a solid nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't used their support system extensively, as I primarily use Reddit or Stack Overflow for assistance.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Negative

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Windows 10 is straightforward.

I have participated in the deployment of Windows 10 multiple times.

What other advice do I have?

Windows 11 operates somewhat slower than Windows 10, particularly with the UI.

I cannot identify any improvements Windows 11 offers over Windows 10, as it seemed to be an unnecessary upgrade.

I rate Windows 10 eight out of ten.

Performance and slowness are areas that could be improved in Windows 10. Sometimes the system experiences slowdowns.

The only issue I face and can remember is related to performance.

I have not contacted Microsoft support and cannot think of any relevant experiences.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not had the opportunity to work with other operating systems such as Linux.

What other advice do I have?

I am not fully involved in technical work, and I may not be the most qualified person to provide feedback.

Regarding licensing, I am using Windows 10 through my office and am not familiar with the details.

I am not sure about virtual desktop functionality.

The system is not integrated with other tools.

I make use of the Edge browser and Chrome.

User appreciates ease of use but desires improvements in pricing and update process

  • July 01, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Regarding features such as Cortana voice activation, I am not using that; it is not AI, it is more similar to Siri in iPhones.

Regarding the initial setup, it is not difficult to set up Windows 10 on the laptop; it takes a few minutes. Regarding the benefits from using it, I would consider it is a cost-effective tool, though it might be a bit overpriced if I am aware about prices at all.

What is most valuable?

The most beneficial feature of Windows 10 that I would share is that it is popular among users; it is easier to use for a common user because of its popularity.

For the integration of Windows 10, I have no issues with that, and I utilize features such as Windows Hello and BitLocker. Regarding BitLocker, I use it and I am satisfied with that. I have not faced any issues in terms of false positives. I utilize the Edge browser of Windows 10 or use different browsers.

What needs improvement?

I do not find Windows 10 compatible with my applications as I am not using any legacy applications.

Regarding my experience with Windows 10, I was annoyed with updates that constantly make my PC restart. Additionally, the user interface could be more intuitive because it is sometimes too hard to find specific items.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding stability, I have not experienced any issues at all.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Regarding scalability overall, I can increase the licensing amount easily when there is company growth or when new people join.

How are customer service and support?

Regarding complications with Windows 10, I am not contacting Microsoft directly as I can manage to solve issues by myself.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Negative

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not difficult to set up Windows 10 on the laptop; it takes few minutes.

What other advice do I have?

I do not use the virtual desktop feature.

In terms of using a specific browser, it is mostly individual choice; it is not mandatory to use a specific one.

I think Windows 10 provides enough value for the money that I have to pay for it. In terms of support, I have never contacted a technical support team.

Tool integration has worked well and deployment process remains straightforward

  • June 24, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

We have embedded our tool in Windows 10, so we do R&D through that for security integration with BitLocker.

It is quite easy to set up Windows 10, as our tech team looks after this, and since we are an OEM, we have many tech specialists. The deployment and running of tools is not an issue.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Pricing is an issue, as we have been looking for an AWS service that is cheaper. I have been looking at some other tools, and that will happen in the next month since we have our licenses for this month.

What other advice do I have?

We use Gmail and Outlook a lot, and other than that, we use Drive and nothing else.

We do not work with Cortana voice commands.

You just have to ask for permission. I do not handle all this.

Outlook works for us, and we mainly use Outlook and Google, and it is working well for us.

It is the time thing itself, because we have time-intensive activities, so time zone differences affect us. This is me just trying to frame what my tech team has told me.

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Windows 10 an eight.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

What is our primary use case?

I am working with Aras PLM.

We are using Aras PLM, Windows 10 and Jira.

Teams has very good features.

We are using soft phones.

What is most valuable?

We are using Aras PLM, Windows 10 and Jira.

Teams has very good features.

It is more comfortable and it is widely used everywhere in India. Almost 80-90% of people are using Windows 10.

Microsoft Firewall is activated, but no other edge tools.

What needs improvement?

There is an issue with using Outlook, as you have to acquire a license. The basic version offered by Windows 10 does not allow direct preview of emails, requiring downloads instead. If they could allow email preview in the free version without downloading, it would be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with this solution for the last five months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The system is very fast and quick.

How are customer service and support?

I have never needed customer service support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used any previous solutions.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have researched Oracle Agile PLM and Aras Innovator on my website, but feedback is not yet available for these solutions. I was wondering about other tools, particularly in the area of testing or test management.

PLM is the main focus.

Aras PLM is a US-based company that can be found through searching.

The company name is spelled A R A S.

I rate this solution 9 out of 10.

User experience improves with straightforward application upgrades and effective security features

  • May 13, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am familiar with Windows Server and Windows 10 to an extent, but it's Windows 11 now, so we don't have too many Windows 10 left here. There are a couple of computers that are busy all the time, so I couldn't upgrade them.

I am using Windows 10 within the education system, so our licenses are educational. Windows 10 is pretty much a thing of the past with a few computers as an exception.

What is most valuable?

The value of Windows as an operating system lies in how applications are easy to find and upgrades are simple. You can upgrade the Windows operating system easily and the applications continue to function, so it's a good option for desktop.

Linux is not such a good option based on the fact that we are running Windows domains. Integration of other operating systems and systems with Windows are difficult. We are running a number of iMacs and there are problems whenever users have to access their Windows shares.

What needs improvement?

I cannot think about anything with Windows that doesn't satisfy or meet our needs. Of course, whenever a newer version appears, we know that the older version at a certain time shall be discontinued. Whenever we have time, we look for the opportunity to upgrade. We practically do an initial upgrade, we see how that computer behaves and then go ahead and upgrade them.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have experience with Windows 10 since it came on the market, probably a few months after.

How are customer service and support?

In general, I would rate Microsoft support as good. The Office 365 support is good, it takes a while sometimes to point to the problem, but they're good. On a scale of one to ten, I would give them an eight.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding the pricing for Windows 10, they come with the hardware that we get and we have the upgraded licenses, so the price is good, but it's not the pricing that you usually get per device. It's campus price. Educational campus pricing is volume licensing, so educational prices are better.

What other advice do I have?

There were valuable features in Windows 10 that I remember. It did the job that I needed, and it worked okay.

The security features in Windows 10, particularly Windows Firewall and Windows Endpoint Protection, were valuable for our needs. We are using an XDR, a detection and response system, which is still in its infancy. It is deployed all over and we get information from those systems through an agent and through a web interface, we get warnings. We supplement whatever Windows offers, and we are considering getting E5 licenses and going to Microsoft Endpoint Protection. Everything on our computers should be controlled through Azure Office 365.

Overall, on a scale of one to ten, I would rate Windows 10 as a nine.

Users have recommended the current operating system for office tasks and appreciate the consistent performance

  • May 12, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am mostly working with Windows 10. I am not working with Linux operating systems such as Ubuntu or Oracle; I primarily use Windows 10 operating systems.I work with Windows 10 only, but I also work with many other Microsoft solutions as well.I have been working with Windows 10 for almost 4-5 years, as I've been on Windows as long as my organization updates the operating systems.I use Windows 10 for my day-to-day office work.I will be honest; Windows 10 as an operating system is something I'm used to, and I've never worked on any other operating system apart from Windows 10, except Linux for a very small period of time. I recommend Windows 10 for all company sizes because it is used across the board, and I don't foresee it being a challenge. Windows 10 is the market leader, while Linux finds its use cases in very specialized roles.

What is most valuable?

Clients prefer LeanIX capabilities, especially around diagramming, because they are super easy. LeanIX is still preferred, but Ardoq is gaining traction.I find Copilot to be a very good and wonderful product. I use Copilot to capture meeting notes and get summaries and bullet points, and it is a wonderful tool.

What needs improvement?

I would improve Windows 10 by having fewer updates and addressing the warnings for restarting laptops when updates are installed automatically at the backend while I'm working. They can probably install updates during nighttime when I'm not working, as Apple does a fantastic job of it.Microsoft can improve their Teams product because everybody uses Teams, and it's very clunky and unfriendly in terms of scrolling back, downloading files, and moving back and forth within the different teams.Improvement is needed in boot time since once it gets dated and more updates come into play, booting time increases, which can be a pain from an end user's perspective. My final rating for Windows 10 is probably nine, as I've given it an eight, but the boot time issue and Teams not being great is a concern for me.I have two points for improvement regarding boot time and Teams.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Windows 10 for almost 4-5 years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

In general, the initial setup for Windows 10 has been good; no worries or issues there, it takes its own sweet time, and that's okay.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of the product an eight.I have never used Microsoft technical support; I've never used it at all.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For scalability, I would rate it a nine or ten because performance-wise, Windows 10 has never given me those issues; however, I don't do heavy work with the operating system.

How are customer service and support?

I have never used Microsoft technical support; I've never used it at all.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

In general, the initial setup for Windows 10 has been good; no worries or issues there, it takes its own sweet time, and that's okay.

What other advice do I have?

I don't consider myself an expert on Windows 10; I'm just an end user for the operating system based on my experience.I'm not the right person to ask about Windows 10 security; my friends who are into security and identity management tell me that Windows security is not that good, and I honestly don't know about it.I would recommend Windows 10 to other users without hesitation. My overall rating for Windows 10 is 9 out of 10.

Windows 10 is the operating system for our entire organization.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 provides integration capabilities and operational efficiency. The user interface, ease of deployment, and pricing are appreciated. It is the most common operating system, and people like it as there are no particular problems or issues.

What needs improvement?

The areas of firewall, antivirus, and similar features could be improved as they are not very strong.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows for many years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

No major problems; right now, deployment is pretty good.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't faced any major downtime issues.

How are customer service and support?

Our organization is quite satisfied with Microsoft's support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Installation is pretty good with no big problems.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Windows is considered overpriced, especially given the normal software functionalities.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Apple products are much better, but they are more expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I would prefer to remain anonymous. I would rate the overall solution an 8 out of 10.
