What do you like best about the product?
Because one of the most popular DB in the market and the support to this DB is a lot more than any other DB. We also integrate to cloud with different languages support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Actually, everything was fine except, not worked well with huge amount of data. We needed to optimize in case we receive a lot more data we have planned.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Health information related problem that we have been working on. Unfortunately, I can not give more info about the project because of terms. But I can say that mysql did good job in the system circle.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to build up something that easy to use and easy to development, mysql is the right choice. Also, if your team is consist of a few developers, mysql can satisfy with development process and and straight forward build up time. Postgrsql and Oracle can be other alternatives but the investment to this product can save your life and money in long term scheduling.

Good database management experience with MySQL

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Have used MySQL in the past. Has awesome indexing and searching capabilities. Really like its embedded database library.
What do you dislike about the product?
A major limitation of mySQL is with respect to foreign key referencing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used mySQL to help build a patient management system for a hospital. This helped in the creation of a much convenient (all-in-one-place) database that contained all patient information available at a single click!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good and easy to use database development tool, especially for new developers like me.

If you are using SQL use MySql

  • November 28, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to install
Good for designing a smaller db
Fast enough for most websites
Work more then 4 years without any special maintains in one of smaller apps (its retaining backwards compatibility)
What do you dislike about the product?
It is structured as any SQL db (I prefer no-sql)
not suitable for non text\numbers saving
not great with times and dates
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Human resources survey service, easy to use database, fast enough for our use and had a very convenient GUI extensions (workbench was my favorite), was very easy to use for the less experienced coders in our group
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great starter project, most projects I saw was suitable to at least start with this type of db, instead of starting with a hard to setup and maintain db.

MySQL Review

  • November 17, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Good features and easy to implement.
Cost of license, set up time is very minimal. Takes few hrs to set up a DR solution or multi master replication system.
It's simple but also offers many knobs to tune.
Platform independence.
Big data using MySQL as the operational data store for Hadoop and cassandra
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing specific at this time. Too many patches coming out recently, not sure that's a good thing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
implementing In house OLTP systems.

I use MySQL for data processing, cleaning, etc.

  • November 17, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Clean and understandable user interface. Plenty of 3rd party support/interface with popular data visualization, analysis, and processing programs. Very easy to pick up and teach.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are two forms of MySQL you can download. Just the platform OR the platform with all the connections to 3rd party software. Making sure you get the correct one is annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MySQL has significantly speed up our data cleaning and analysis process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great if you need to interface with other programs.

MySql or not to MySql

  • November 01, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Okay I generally start with this, but it's free!!! And so simple!!!! I started using Microsoft SQL Server back in 1999 in my first real job and have been on friendly terms with it ever since. However MySql has been there and thereabouts for a while and for the past 4 years or so I have not seen any reason why I should go back to paying. The utilities are excellent, the stability and upgrades can't be faulted, and it's light.
What do you dislike about the product?
Genuinely I have no dislikes. To be extremely extremely picky, the login box on MySql Workbench ( a GUI utility just like Enterprise Manager) sometimes hangs. But so what. If Microsoft could claim something like that was its weakest point, we would be overrun with Bill Gates shaped uber robots and no other OS would exist.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using MySql as production db servers for all my clients. Alongside saving the client money on licensing, I can so simply configure all the tools, redundancy and backups I need. I don't think I can warrant going back to Microsoft SQL Server for our products.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have even thought about it, give it a go. My bias lies in that I am a convert to Debian and the like, so free = good with me all the time. We run a number of db servers across our estate but (fingers crossed) the mySQL instances just don't give me hassle.

Stable and cost effective DB system

  • October 31, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL has proven that it can be a serious choice for enterprise level software. I find this product intuitive in a lot of ways -in terms of interacting with it as a user. It has been growing although not as fast as it needs to to be competitive. Some great things working for MySQL: They have been making code more modular. In MySQL 5.6, they moved one of the crucial locks ( the LOCK_open) in the MySQL Server to modular code which has the potential to improve performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features that allow MySQL to compete with noSQL technology are slow in coming. It lacks in maturity somewhat and some of the features I expect to be implemented by now are not there yet for example user security.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its cost effective. We used it for small to medium scale operations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Has potential
