Free DB is best DB :D
What do you like best about the product?
FREE. No kidding, a database server this awesome and free pretty much sums it up. Needless to say the stability of MariaDB is phenomenal.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's very hard to find what to dislike about MariaDB, i guess just the fact that it's not as scaleable like the NoSQL counterparts? But then again i understand why it cant be so there's that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use MariaDB as an alternative to MySQL
I like how it fixes bugs faster than MySQL
It's very very stable
So easy to transition from MySQL to MariaDB
I like how it fixes bugs faster than MySQL

So easy to transition from MySQL to MariaDB
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're using MySQL, switching to MariaDB is just a breeze. If you're hesitating to switch, dont, coz it is like MySQL only better.
Great free database
What do you like best about the product?
Probably the best open source database I have used so far. Provides lots of flexibility in writing queries. Also very easy to set up.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation on version upgrade is not very clear.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been working on MySQL as teaching assistant for undergrad course. Upgrading to MariaDB has made things much easier to me and students as well.
Open Source relational database with Enterprise features
What do you like best about the product?
The simple fact that this is an open source product is enough for me to like it. The reliability, ease to deal with, and the flexibility it provides is another point that I like about MariaDB.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can´t find a reason to not like this product. It´s a mature product with origins on open source projects and going through the biggest company alive then, which was acquired by the biggest company alive now. It has a past, present and bright future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All of our applications that require a relational database make use of MariaDB, this includes local and web solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy, fast and reliable relational database with several options for management.
Great Experience
What do you like best about the product?
We used MariaDB to make use of Galera clustering. We found the command prompt and logging to be better than that of MySQL. Also, new features usually come faster to MariaDB. Extremely stable to use in Production systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. There are a few caveats that need to be covered. It was intended to be a drop in replacement for MySQL but the project has deviated from MySQL since 5.5 release of MySQL. So care needs to be taken while migrating as issues are expected. It is still a smooth transition all and all if you are not using any legacy features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using MariaDB as our SQL Database for our backend application. We are happy with the performance and the stability it provides to complete our business goals.
MariaDB
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about the database manager is that it has the facilities and advantages of a paid one since it was derived from MySQL, but instead, this is a free option.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are hardly any things I don't like, but if I had to choose one, it would be the fact of having to uninstall MySQL and install MariaDB. However, the migration is straightforward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team and I created a webpage at the University with this manager and also, later at work, due to budget constraints, we decided to use MariaDB instead of other paid options.
Open Source MySQL
What do you like best about the product?
It's a great piece of software for a database. Easy to deploy and use using SQL. Open source too which is always a perk. It has more advanced features than say it's parent, MySQL, so it's much superior to it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can't scale like other solutions, but should be easy to transition if your needs grow too big. It''s good for a centralized database and small to medium sized setups. Depending what your needs are of course.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using it to store customer information. I have come to realize it's ease of use and how well it worked.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should help to support the open source community by using them and supporting financially.
Easy and useful
What do you like best about the product?
I think that this DB manager is really easy todo install and to use. It is available in most of platforms and It is similar to MySQL.
What do you dislike about the product?
MariaDB is a relational DB, cause you cant use It to work with non relational data, but It is not a disadvantage, you only need the correct DB manager to your data type.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When you need a light DB manager for relational data is a great option. It is easy to install and to manage.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Useful and easy
Excellent stable database and easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Stable and easy database in administration and installation
What do you dislike about the product?
The disadvantage of this database is that it only works with InnoDB
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gain in cost and performance by using the cluster and reducing the machines that followed
The future of MySQL
What do you like best about the product?
It has all the potential of MySQL and greater support from developers than MySQL. It is very easy to migrate from MySQL to MariaDB.
What do you dislike about the product?
It still lacks its own tool with a graphical interface to manage the database.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to set up a cluster with this database to improve the performance of our application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Right now, along with Oracle, they are the best relational databases to set up in large-scale projects.
MariaDB
What do you like best about the product?
MariaDB is essentially the same as MySQL, except it is community managed. Having said that, MariaDB is great to work with and it’s security is sufficient for our purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
As it is community managed, MariaDB (unfortunately) receives less updates compared to MySQL. Also, it is not the easiest software to get set up and secured for a production environment (whitelist-only connections to the database, etc.).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MariaDB, being so popular, makes it easy to integrate with applications. Also, most software available that requires a database connection supports MariaDB (ie. application support is superb compared to something like Microsoft SQL).
