Tested in a POC environment
What do you like best about the product?
Adding DB to the stack to find performance issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Systems team did not find the interface user friendly. They had no experience with SolarWinds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to diagnose and issue with our SolarWinds NPM database and reconfigured the hardware setup.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good product that requires more diligent training of staff.

Everything is broken down with time based stacked graphs

The expense if you have a lot of databases

Quickly find out where the problem is.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The price gets bigger if you have many databases but it's one of the best tools to quickly isolate where the problems are in your database with wait times. Easy to find the query where all the time is being wasted.
Easy to read and Monitor Database
What do you like best about the product?
The detail that DPA provides, very easy to setup, easy to integrate with our current monitoring system. Easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Web Page that the DPA uses is visually bland. Should be more colorful.

able to identify processes that are using memory and have discovered issues with disk speeds

What do you like best about the product?
I liked being able to monitor SIDs on database instances.
What do you dislike about the product?
A small dislike but it would be the cost of the product. Oracle instances come with a premium cost vs SQL instances.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This will be beneficial for those with minimal database experiences. In tough situations, it is good for a non DB person to be able to dive into this product and see potential issues like long running queries that need to be killed that cause service degradation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This product is great for a team that wants to add it to their Solarwinds Portfolio, especially if Database monitoring is a need. There are other Database monitoring tools, but this will allow a small IT team to have one pane of glass for troubleshooting.

I love the start screen which immediately shows instances/queries need to be looked at.
What do you dislike about the product?
I could use a feature where it would allow me to email detail deadlock report.

DPA is an amazing resource
What do you like best about the product?
The quickness of resolution of our issues as well as the transparency it gives across teams. We can dig into what the root issue is easily with DPA. The monitoring feature is second to none and allows us to find the issues when comparing to a baseline.

There is really nothing that I dislike so far about the DPA.

We use Solarwinds DPA to track performance issues in our environment. It has been a great tool so far.

Implement this analyzer as it will greatly benefit your organization.
Great insight to real time stats
What do you like best about the product?
The most beneficial aspect for me was the storage stats. Having a real time chart to read reads, writes and latency allows us to have a more proactive approach to response times.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't too much to dislike however adding more administrative control functions would expand on the product's functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visually seeing trends in peak performance utilization has allowed for more scalable maintenance plans.

The product does everything as advertised and more.
Great Insight into your databases
What do you like best about the product?
Charts and diagrams are always the best way to demonstrate to people who don't understand the details what's going on.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not 100% integrated into Orion yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Proof that SQL Express is not usable for production systems
Been using Solarwinds DPA module for 3 years
What do you like best about the product?
I love the detailed information you are able to pull regarding the databases, their servers and the whole virtual environment. When syncing with NPM, it helps complete that "single pane of glass" view of your environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently, there is nothing I would say I "dislike" about this product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to see where our problem/latency spots are with our collection of Solarwinds products we have applied to the environment.
