What do you like best about the product?
Teradata handles complex queries on massive datasets without performance issues. I also really appreciate its integration capabilities with Python, which we use extensively for orchestration and automation tasks. It adds a lot of flexibility to our workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI feels outdated and not very intuitive, especially for users outside core data teams. Documentation could be clearer and more example driven. It might also be quite heavy for fast iteration and experimentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teradata plays a key role in supporting our anti money laundering efforts by powering the ETL pipelines behind our risk alert system. We use it to process large volumes of transactional data, generate financial indicators, and apply complex business rules to detect suspicious patterns across both national and international operations. Its ability to handle heavy joins, aggregations, and inflation adjustments via Python integration at scale, ensures that our risk matrices are both timely and reliable. This directly improves our compliance positioning, reduces manual workload, and enables faster response to regulatory requirements.

What do you like best about the product?
It is a robust and stable data platform that efficiently handles large volumes of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
That too many technical skills are required for the use of the platform. It should evolve to functionalities with natural language.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In Teradata, we model our business processes so that through them, KPIs and OKRs are constructed, which define the current and future state of the business.
Using Teradata as a BI Analyst
What do you like best about the product?
The possibility of performing large-scale data analysis from different sources. Teradata performs as expected in the development of our business models. It allows the BI team to analyze big amount of data, develop models and test them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Operating in the cloud with Teradata requires initial configuration or integration with AWS. Teradata studio performance could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Teradata to connect from different sources, to analyze data and create business models. Therefore, it is an important contributor to our analytical modeling process.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Teradata Vantage is its scalability and performance when handling large datasets, combined with the flexibility to operate both on-premises and in the cloud. It’s particularly valuable for complex analytical queries and workload management.

What I dislike about Teradata Vantage is its steep learning curve, especially for new users. The interface could be more intuitive, and some advanced features require significant technical expertise to fully utilize.

Teradata Vantage is solving issues related to handling large volumes of data efficiently and providing high-performance analytics. It’s benefiting us by improving query performance, reducing data processing time, and enabling more accurate, timely decision-making across the organization.
Harnessing advanced parallelism for top performance while embracing cloud trends
What is our primary use case?
Teradata is primarily used for data warehousing across all customers. My clients have built-in applications that use Teradata, and their use varies from customer to customer, depending on the industry and database size. The primary function is as an OLAP analytical ecosystem.
How has it helped my organization?
Scalability is excellent because of Teradata's parallelism. It doesn't impact operations when nodes are added. This allows customers to expand without migrating the entire database or system.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable aspects of Teradata are not specific features. Rather, it's the overall performance, particularly parallelism, workload management, and parallel computing. Teradata effectively uses parallelism to the granular level, performing better than other databases.
What needs improvement?
Teradata is somewhat late in adopting cloud technology. They need to focus on the adoption of cloud to remain competitive and target customers who prefer not to invest in capital expenditures and seek a more flexible, operational expenditure approach.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have worked with Teradata for around 15 years, from Teradata version six to version 14.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Teradata is highly stable. The workload management and software maturity provide a reliable system, unlike some newer cloud software that can exhibit misbehavior.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Even if an organization starts small, Teradata offers the flexibility to expand by adding nodes or more storage, especially in cloud environments, without incurring downtime or taking systems offline.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support from Teradata is quite advanced. However, like any support service, there can be delays. I rate the support as eight out of ten because of their technical expertise.

During my career, I've been involved primarily with Teradata, and some clients are migrating from Teradata to other technologies.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup process is rated as eight out of ten. It's straightforward. That said, when migrating databases from other systems, challenges arise in redesigning the code to optimize parallelism.
What about the implementation team?
The implementation is managed by a separate customer service group within Teradata, not by me or my group.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Teradata is high-quality at a premium price. Initially, it may seem expensive compared to similar cloud databases, however, it offers significant value in performance, stability, and overall output once in use.
What other advice do I have?
New users should focus on understanding Teradata's parallelism and write their queries or codes to utilize its full potential. Knowing how to use workload management effectively is beneficial.

Like the presentations, round tables. Very informal, very helpful to see how the software works. To hear the good use cases for CLoud migration and AI.
What do you dislike about the product?
Location is great but it is nowehere near the airports which is not convinient for many of us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating a visibility of the data flows. Like Data DNA a lot. It could benefit sunsetting some legacy systems and data flows.
