Great for Reporting
What do you like best about the product?
The program is easy to use and navigate. There are multiple reports already made, saved in easy-to-find folders. What adds the most value is the fact that you can go in and run your report, edit the fields, filter as needed, and then save the data to your favorites folder so it will just be a quick refresh next time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes when there are many records the program will run slowly. This happens with most programs, so it's not really an issue. Just be cognizant of how much data is needed and try to filter it down to decrease time spent waiting for an export.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about the product?
The data abilities are decent and you can get to the data you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes too long to run reports and is sometimes difficult to use multiple universes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly doing analysis for supply chain. I can get the data I need to support other departments and customers
Business Objects
What do you like best about the product?
I like that both internal and external colleagues have user-controlled access to different folders/reports in BO. I also like the automated report feature that auto-emails reports to a set distribution list.
What do you dislike about the product?
I expect auto-distribution to be reliable, so it's annoying when reports are not received via email as expected, and there is no error message alert to prompt the database analyst troubleshoots the problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to automate many operational aspects through reports that are auto-distributed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure that there are quality mechanisms already in place in case reports are not running or auto-distribution as expected.
Reliable Centralized Program
What do you like best about the product?
Data is reliably in consistent locations and easy to identify. Fields give you list of values if value is unknown. Easy to see real time changes and activities. Document flow is easy to monitor and track within the doc flow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Calculations can at times be inconsistent and unpredictable. System has trouble interacting with other systems if integrating multiple platforms.

Spend lots of time investigating how it will interact with other platforms if you have existing systems or implementing other platforms.

What do you like best about the product?
Used this at my last position. Very concise and efficient with a number of useful customizations to report to the end user. Definitely helpful in day to day operations
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit of a steeper learning curve to begin than some of the competition as well as being somewhat more expensive. Not a deal breaker by any means though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were using this to help manage our sales team and manage and analyze the data that came out of their normal daily activities to help inform our strategy.

The UI is clean and modern. It's incredibly easy to navigate.

I wish that I could have more export options. Right now they are limited.

I'm able to support the back-end projects started by our BI team here.
BO Web-Based Version
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to schedule reports to run and export to a directory.

The web based version seems to be slow and a bit clunky.

We utilize Business Objects for reporting as this is the only software we have liscensed to extract data from our accounting system.

Business Objects is a useful platform, but may take some time to understand the inner workings.

I like the fact that BOBJ is very refined and has been around for a long time which separates it from other vendors. Things are very thought out and organized in a way that is easy to use.

The best thing about SAP Business Objects is the reporting architecture.
The universes are best part you can think of for building any reporting framework.
even if you do not have separate reporting database, universes are like building your virtual reporting DB(if you can afford reporting load on your application database).
we use if a lot for reporting on all enterprise applications and this tool helps a lot on analytics.
the other supporting tools like BODS etc. helps build a better reporting environment.
